Another great dinner at China Moon. We returned after a not so great experience. I'm not sure if that was just a one off night, but the management team reached out. Tonight we opted to have the crabby wontons, and the potstickers to start. And then for our entrées, we had chicken fried rice, Kung pao chicken and the steamed fish. Both the appetizers were served hot and fresh. They were crispy and not greasy. It was the first time trying the steam fish. It took a few minutes longer, which was fine and it was served in a beautiful platter presentation. It was delicious. The fish melted in your mouth. And the sauce was delightful. When we placed the order for the chicken fried rice, we were asked if we wanted soy sauce added to it and we said yes. I thought that was just a normal ingredient, but I guess I was wrong. It tasted delicious. There were a few pieces of white meat chicken that were chewy. It is tossed with rice, egg, and perhaps a green, leafy, vegetable lettuce, perhaps it tasted good, but it wasn't my favorite. The kung pao chicken is a classic dish with red chili pods, peanuts, and chicken and a brown sauce with zucchini. I thought it tasted great. There was a perfect amount of caramelization and spice, except my companion thought it tasted a little burnt. Overall, the meal is very good. We always return. Service was great as always. Parking out front. Nice casual environment. Lots of takeout orders as well.

I had not been to China Moon in over 5 years. I remembered it being delicious but it was not so. The food was expensive and just ok. The service was great but I'm not sure we'll be going back.

Visited China Moon on the week of Chinese New Year and they had a Special Menu for the celebration. We come here every couple of months when craving Chinese food since it is convenient located near our home and we are so happy that service and food is always pleasant and pleasing. Even though restaurant is always busy we have never had to wait no longer than 5 minutes of wait time and food is always worth the wait & the staff is so friendly and welcoming they make you feel at ease. Ambience is cozy with dim lighting not much of privacy separation from other guest if you're not seated at inner booths located in the middle of the restaurant. Overall restaurant is fairly tight and small for the amount of seating they have, but I guess understandable for the demand & how popular it is. Are go to order is fried rice, lo mein noodles, walnut shrimp and sometimes orange chicken or beef broccoli. And we always like to start with wonton soup always delicious. Food is always fresh and serve steaming hot.

China Moon in Laguna Niguel is a highly regarded, family-run restaurant serving American-style Chinese cuisine, that is a cozy, reliable spot for fresh, high-quality, non-greasy dishes. Popular for its attentive service and dishes like sesame chicken and crispy duck, it is popular with locals.

Ambiance very nice decor, clean bathrooms, needs some pleasant Asian music. Staff. We felt service was not consistent. They seemed to have enough staff for the small eatery but we didn't see them much and they always rushed off very quick. Food. We didn't not like the food. 1. Ordered pot stickers. Because the small bits with us were hungry and wanted something to feed and occupy them while the good cooked. This food took literally forever. We finally got them and they were good but needed a little more flavor or salt. 2. We wanted to order the rest of our food and my daughter finally stopped the woman and said can we order lunch. 3. Strange things. No fried rice. No egg flower soup and won ton soup Is a $2.00 upcharge. 4. Hot tea is $2.50 a person. ! 5. We ordered lunch specials. Orange chicken (1 hot 1 mild). and white rice. One won ton soup. 2 hot and sour ( needed salt) or more seasoning. Cashew nut chicken and rice. 6. Lunch came. Both Orange chicken came with the hit dried red peppers in it ! We pulled them out and it still tasted mild so the bits could eat it anyway. However. The orange chicken was dried out hard lumps. Reminded me of cooked chicken feet ( I don't eat that). It wasn't good. 7. The cashew nut chicken didn't have a chicken sauce, it was dark and just a butload of soy sauce. The chicken was dark meat which I don't eat. The sauce was awful. We told her to take it back and take it off the bill. 8. The won ton soup was good actually with lots of vegetables. We will try another restaurant next time. Hoping for good Chinese food. It's hard to come by these days. Or maybe just go for Thai.

We wanted a more quieter evening tonight so we decided to visit China Moon. Not a whole lot of people in the restaurant when we got there. Service was good and food was brought out quickly. Fortunately we got there a bit early because the dining room was full in less than an hour later. I had my usual, three ingredients taste, sautéed shrimp, beef, and chicken with mixed veggies. This dish is always good. The shrimp was a bit fishy but not too bad. Hubby had the cashew nuts chicken. The flavor was good but it would have been better if it was made with white meat. We do not like dark meat chicken. We checked with our waitress Lucy later and she confirmed that it is dark meat. Lucy suggested that we can request for white meat next time and the kitchen can do it. Lucy has been there a very long time. We have had her a few times before and according to her name tag, she's been there since 2009! Speaking of being loyal. Overall, we had a good meal. Thanks Lucy and all other staff in the dining room, especially the food runner. He was super fast in bringing us what we needed: our food and the chili sauce! They are all very nice and efficient.

We were down in Mission Viejo and were craving some Chinese food and saw this place had good reviews. Living in Irvine/close to garden grove. I would say this place is no where near good Chinese food. My crispy noodles barely had any shrimp/chicken. The chicken was over cooked, while the zucchini was under cooked. The whole thing was pretty salty. I also ordered the hot and sour soup, which didn't have enough spice or vinegar in it to make it sour. Overall the food was really salty and disappointing. They were pretty packed for a Sunday evening. They are pretty short staffed, so it took a while for our food and check to come out. They were friendly though. Sorry South OC, but this isn't good Chinese food!!

The art on ceiling inside restaurant is gorgeous. Stop by for a look!

The food is always so good here. Don't skip out on the xiao long bao. It's yummy. The servers are really sweet and patient. They recommend some of the best stuff too. The restaurant itself can be a little loud because of how busy they get. So, if you hate noise, order for pick up. Bit, don't snooze on this place. It's a hidden gem!

Unfortunately, this visit didn't quite live up to our previous Seasurf experiences. We ordered the shrimp ceviche mixto, calamari, and poke nachos from the happy hour menu. The poke nachos were the standout and tasted just as good as we remembered from other visits. Flavorful with a generous portion of poke, and easily the best thing we ordered. The other two dishes, however, missed the mark. The calamari seemed over-fried and the calamari itself was much chewier than it should have been. The shrimp in the ceviche mixto also tasted overcooked and chewy, which took away from the bright, refreshing qualities that make ceviche enjoyable in the first place. One thing I will say is that the happy hour still appears to offer some solid value. We noticed a lot of people ordering the fish tacos, and at around $3 each, they looked like one of the better deals on the menu. We didn't try them ourselves, but the portions looked generous and they were definitely catching our attention as they came out of the kitchen. Will try that next time! Given how consistently good our experiences have been at the San Clemente location, I'm willing to give this visit the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to an off day rather than a larger issue. The poke nachos were still excellent, and Seasurf has built up enough goodwill with us over the years that we'll likely be back to give this location another shot. Hopefully next time the execution is a little closer to what we've come to expect from the brand.

She also gave fantastic recommendations, and everything we ordered came out timely and perfectly prepared. One thing that really stood out was when I asked if they happened to have truffle fries, even though they weren't on the menu. She explained that they normally only serve them during happy hour, but she offered to check anyway...and to my surprise, she was able to bring them out for us! That small gesture meant so much and showed how willing she was to go above and beyond for her guests. To make the birthday celebration even more special, she brought out a beautiful tres leches cake with a candle so we could all sing happy birthday to my cousin. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the moment feel truly special. After we paid, we had the chance to chat with her, and it only confirmed what we had already experienced throughout the meal--she is such a positive, uplifting person. She's the kind of employee who lights up an establishment and makes people want to come back. We left talking about how wonderful she was, and she played a huge role in making our celebration so memorable. The food was just as amazing as the service. We started with the crab and spinach dip and the bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer, both of which were absolutely delicious and the perfect way to start our meal. I ordered the Caesar salad with steak, and it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Everything we ordered came out fresh, timely, and exactly as expected. From the appetizers to the desserts, every dish was excellent and made the experience even more enjoyable. FYI if you're going to get any appetizer the CRAB & SPINACH DIP + THE BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP IS THE WAY TO GO!!!! The ambience is perfection, beautifully decorated with lights. As for the food, just don't go into it expecting Selanne's Steak Tavern or Mastro's. I specifically wanted halibut and ordered the panko halibut. The fish itself was good and not overly fishy, which I prefer, but overall it felt more like an upscale fish and chips dish than a true fine dining halibut entrée. The potatoes were good, but I didn't care for the pasta at all. It was very dry. The salad tasted good, but it was nowhere near worth the price. It had maybe two tomatoes and a light sprinkle of nuts. At $13, it felt extremely overpriced. Would I come back? Probably not. For the price, I expected more, and the fish was really the only thing I genuinely enjoyed. That said, it is a nice addition to the area since there honestly aren't many places around like it. The biggest downside for me was really the side dishes overall. The pasta and salad just didn't match the pricing or the level the restaurant seems to be aiming for. I also wasn't a fan of the music. The atmosphere would fit much better with more of a Frank Sinatra style instead of what sounded like generic 90s elevator music in the background. Overall, for the area, it's a nice spot. But for the price point, there are definitely better options.

We came for a birthday and everyone was so kind and wished them a happy birthday. I've been here before and everything I've ever had was delicious. The artichoke and kale dip was perfect. The chips were light and crispy and was the perfect vessel for piling on loads of the dip. Out table inhaled the chips in under five minutes. Out of the baby back ribs, pork chop and rib eye I have to say that the rib eye was so tender, so moist and so flavorful. I might have to order it every time I come back. We were so full we didn't get any dessert but they still have the butter cake on their menu. So I'll definitely have to get it again next time

Restaurant is nice with some booth seating in the back and even some outdoor seating. Parking itself-there's a small lot next to it but it's almost always full so you can do some street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. When I last came here, we ordered the red pepper hummus to share and I ordered the French dip! It was excellent as per usual and the service was good. One critique I would have though is that one of the people in my party was a vegetarian and had ordered a veggie burger. The people bringing out the food accidentally swapped the plates of someone else in the party who had ordered a chicken blt when placing the dishes in front of each person. Unfortunately the vegetarian did take a bite of the chicken blt before realizing it was not the veggie burger and spit it out. It is what it is and was an honest mistake. But, maybe confirming the dishes before placing it in front of the person would be good. First time it's happened but we hope it doesn't happen again because we love this place!

As a local gringo, sure--I wouldn't mind a few pictures on the menu--but honestly, it doesn't matter. Just pick something and go for it. Everything I've tried has been excellent, and you really can't go wrong. What makes it even better is that it's truly family-owned and operated. And I mean that literally--you'll see them in the front, in the back, and serving tables. There's something special about that level of care and pride in what they're doing. It's incredibly important to support places like this, especially in South Orange County and particularly in San Juan Capistrano. Restaurants like this are what give the area its character. Take your time when you go--make it a date night or bring family when they're in town. If you want real, authentic, fantastic food, this is the spot.

There is some outdoor seating available but it's definitely more of a grab-and-go spot. Parking on the other hand was a bit challenging. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The service was friendly and quick, which I appreciated. We ordered two bowls with salmon and tuna. 1 had the OG sauce and the other had the OG sauce mixed with wasabi. The OG was a little bland for my taste but it was still enjoyable. The wasabi mixed with the OG was definitely more flavorful. Given all the hype I was expecting a bit more flavor overall. The fish itself was fresh and good quality with no fishy aftertaste. The rice, however, was a little dry. The portions were also smaller than I expected for the price and the extra charges for toppings can add up pretty quickly. Overall, it was a decent spot to try if you're in the area but I personally wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. Good quality fish but it didn't quite live up to the hype based on my experience.
