Craving something Asian and Yelp pointed us to Asian Kitchen in AV. We lived 5 minutes away years ago and never checked this place out. Totally regretting it! We came here Sunday, 3-ish pm. We were the only patrons and had dibs on any table/seating. There is a nice outdoor patio for eating outside. The establishment is very clean and welcoming. Booths are spacious and there is a good size bar in the middle with bar stools and a big t.v. to watch sports or news. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and polite. Got us water and fried wanton chips with an orange sweet sauce. Ordered: - Yang Chow Fried Rice - Orange Chicken - Sesame Balls Overall? Delicious! Best orange chicken we've eaten and the fried rice was so good. Sesame balls had red bean and so tasty! Props to our female server who came to talk to us and made us feel so welcomed. We really enjoyed our late lunch. We will put this restaurant on our rotation list!

Great service and excellent flavorful roast duck with garlic eggplant and rice. A beautiful local Chinese restaurant here in Laguna Niguel has plenty of parking and fresh hot delicious dishes for your hungry guests and family. Lots of takeout orders today for the big game and fight tonight on UFC. Nice clean restaurant and restroom available for paying customers here. Beautiful Laguna Niguel has some amazing views all along the highway and hills to see the big blue ocean. Bring your big appetite and get your tasty bites here tonight. Really good Chinese restaurant cuisine made fresh to order so please be patient with staffing because big boss just went home today and they got limited service staff here tonight. Two lovely ladies working here. Thank goodness not too busy on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Enjoy and order something special for mother's day.

4.5/5 - My partner came here with friends and said it was really good, except for the rice. Naturally, I had to try it myself. We arrived around 4:30 a.m., and they had a happy hour dinner special, which was quite affordable. The portions were a decent size! I ordered the Sichuan beef, which came with your choice of white or brown rice, along with hot and sour or egg drop soup. My partner went for the shrimp chow mein. Definitely ask for the wontons, hot sauce, hot mustard, and chili oil - adding these to the soup makes it sooo good. We also shared a family-sized salt and pepper calamari, which was huge. I will say, the rice was a bit of a letdown =( more like Uncle Ben's than authentic. However, our server was super fast, friendly, and checked in on us throughout. They also have a patio, so they're very pet-friendly! Overall, a good spot if you're looking for good happy hour deals!

We went here for lunch last weekend with our two kids and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable, feels very clean and modern. Our server was lovely and so so friendly and just the right amount of attentiveness without being too much. The food was so tasty and sharing plates of entrees was perfect. The hot and sour soup was so delicious and so were the pork buns and fried dumplings. We will definitely be back. So glad we found this place .

FOOD: The food here is great! Most ecverything I've had here is good! The only thing that I would say was okay, is the soup dumplings. I've tried a variety of different dishes in the few times I've been here, so I would recommend it. The Ma Po Tofu is really good! I enjoyed that a lot. On our last visit, we had Cashew Chicken, Green Beans, Vegetable Fried Rice, and Chow Mein, which were all good. They also give you wontons and a sweet and sour sauce when you first sit down. SERVICE: The service is pretty good. Been here a few times for a fundraiser. The last time we came, our server was nice, but not overly friendly. He just took our orders and brought our items, but didn't have any conversations with us. DECOR/AMBIANCE: Its a nice restaurant with seating inside and outside. There is a bar inside with seating around it. There is a unique feature of a garage door that opens up to part of the outside patio area. Thought that was interesting! I'll definitely be back here for more food! :)

There were six of us this evening and we sat at a round table that had a fabulous Lazy Susan in the middle so it was easy for us to share our food. Ken was our server and he cracked us up so many times he was so much fun. The food for us was outstanding. You know it's a good restaurant when everything you order has a different flavor sometimes it isn't that way but this was great. We had mushy pork, chicken with mixed vegetables, combination, fried rice, wonton soup, and egg drop soup. Everything was great and we will come back again...and again...and again

Friendly service, nice ambience, but food was just ok. I had the Szechwan Beef; a bit too salty and sauce-heavy for me.

Is it just me, or has something changed with the quality of the food here? The last two times we visited, the dishes just weren't hitting the way they used to. (shrugs) Anyone else getting the same vibe? In my opinion, it went from great to just... "m'eh." And that's disappointing because I used to really enjoy the food here. Even though it was on the pricier side, it delivered - until recently. To be fair, the service and ambiance are still great. But the overall quality of the food seems to have dipped, and when you factor in the cost-to-value ratio? SMH. I don't mind paying a bit more for excellent, flavorful dishes, but it's harder to justify when the food feels middle-of-the-road. We haven't returned since those last two underwhelming visits, though I'm tempted to give Asian Kitchen another chance. Still, I hesitate based on our most recent experiences. (sigh) Hoping it was just an off period, because when this place is good - it's GOOD. Fingers crossed it gets back to that level. - Big Aloha! Food: 2 Ambiance: 4 Service: 4 Value: 2

I've seen this restaurant for a few years now and finally got around to try it out. We were so glad we came here tonight. Great food, good service! We were seated immediately after we checked in. Smaller restaurant with about 8-10 tables inside. We noticed there were also several outside on the patio when we left. I had the seafood clay pot, which came with fish, shrimp, calamari, tofu, and mixed vegetables. It was very delicious. The calamari was super tender, the fish was very well seasoned and tasty. Tofu was perfectly done, golden on the outside and still soft on the inside. My husband had the honey walnut shrimp and it was very good. Service was nice. We had Ken as our server and he stayed in the top of everything, bounced back and forth between all tables and also trying to bartending. They have few other staff in the restaurant but I believe they are food runners since I didn't see them taking orders nor serving like Ken. Definitely a must return.

I've heard so many good things about this restaurant that I had to try it while in the area. I visited Asian Kitchen with family (who live in the area and already frequent the restaurant) for dinner. First and foremost, we had an amazing server, he was super attentive and kind! As for the food, everything we ordered was serious sooo good! Im not a huge fan of American Chinese food but this place definitely changing my mind! Please give the orange beef a try, trust me. The beef was tender, crispy and saucy, love the flavor! The green beans still had a little snap, great garlic flavor and went really well with the beef! And you can never go wrong with beef chow-fun. Lastly, we got sesame balls for dessert! The portions were generous and everything was delicious! I highly recommend and don't forget - try the orange beef!

The biggest problem is unfortunately the thing with the restaurant's name on it. The xiao long bao used to feel delicate and deliberate. On this visit, nearly the entire basket had already leaked before we touched them. Once a soup dumpling loses its soup into the steamer, you're basically eating a steamed pork dumpling with an identity crisis. The wrappers also felt heavier than I remember, with thick pinched tops that became dry and doughy. The pork filling itself was decent, but the overall construction just felt rushed. The boiled pork and chive dumplings had the opposite problem of what I want from a dumpling wrapper. Too much dough, not enough filling experience. The chili wontons were considerably better because the wrappers were thinner and more supple. If that texture showed up across more of the dumpling menu, I'd probably feel very differently. There are still good dishes here. The rice cakes were chewy and satisfying and disappeared quickly at our table. Bok choy was simple and solid. The pig ear had good flavor and texture, although ours leaned salty and a little softer than ideal. What pushes this down to two stars is everything surrounding the food. Ordering and paying are heavily pushed through QR codes, yet the system isn't particularly intuitive. I tried paying through Apple Pay with Amex several times before realizing it simply wasn't accepted, with no useful explanation on screen. Service feels similarly detached. Everyone appears extremely busy, yet getting help with ordinary things can be strangely difficult. During our visit one of my kids spilled water beside the table and we were told it could simply be cleaned after we left. I'm not asking for white glove service, but sitting next to a puddle while eating is an odd solution. The restroom situation doesn't help. You have to retrieve a key and head upstairs into an older restroom that feels completely disconnected from the otherwise modern ordering setup downstairs. That's ultimately my issue with Sunny Dumpling House now. There are pieces of a good restaurant still here and a few dishes I enjoy. But the execution has become uneven, the service feels increasingly automated without becoming easier and the dumplings themselves are no longer good enough to compensate for it. I'd rather have fewer systems and better dumplings.
