I went to Jessie Gatlin for a much desperately needed curly haircut and she is truly the answer to all of my hair prayers, maybe even my hair fairy godmother (except her hair magic does not expire at midnight!). I spent a year getting maintenance trims while growing out an undercut, so I was overwhelmed with ideas for how I wanted to revive my hair once it grew out to an acceptable length. I figured I'd give some broad ideas I had and defer to her judgment once we met and bless her, she totally understood what I was going for within mere sentences! I've never felt such immediate trust and comfortability in a stylist. It's insane how much you dont realize your hair impacts your self esteem when it's been in a state for some time. I could feel my personality getting bigger (or rather, coming back) as she cut off all this length and I watched her transform my hair. My cup truly runneth over with joy once it was complete! I felt like a whole new woman and I could not stop checking myself out. Hell, I'm still checking myself out! I truly did not and still don't know how to act since. I've been riding this high all week, and honestly I may never come down from it! Not just a sign of a fantastic haircut, but of an even more fantastic stylist. I honestly cannot recommend the hair "stylist" I saw - Madison Parker to anyone. When I got there and asked for just brown all over color she goes "I can definitely get you there but did you have a budget?" I go, "No as long as it looks good". She then bleached my hair for about an hour and left me alone for mostly the whole time to "take her break" (This was after I mentioned I only want healthy hair - my main priority and asked for just a shade lighter wanting to go from my virgin dark dark brown to brown). I was somehow there from 10am-5pm (which she said she could finish by 2pm) but for some reason still didn't have the time to style or fully wash out the toner which took me 3 showers to fully wash out days later. During the process I could see clients and other stylists staring at her getting bleach everywhere and looking concerned. It is now day 5 and I already see blonde streaks coming through my "brown hair". Mind you I STARTED with dark dark brown hair. So tell me how this fits in the equation? I have gotten this service monthly in the past and it only took about 2 hours and costed around $200-$300. I started crying after 4 hours of being there and endless amounts of masks and washes she put me through which I assume she knew she messed up and fried my hair to the max. I then get to the counter and Madison says "ok that will be $700" after tears had finally stopped streaming down my face. I told her that is ridiculous and was not mentioned at all about where she thought the price range was going to be - which online it quotes $200 for haircut and color. She goes "well you did say you didn't have a budget but best I can do is $600". So if I did say I had a budget would she have not charged me as much and not taken advantage of me?! I explained to her all I got was over fried hair - uneven toning and a "chop" not even a haircut since she didn't have time to thin out the ends which I supposedly "could only get dry". I have never had such an experience at a salon, I would run far away if you're reading this and no wonder she had such an open schedule! She even mentioned "I see every one at this salon getting things done in a couple hours and I think how do they do that?" Maybe because they have a clue of how to work on hair and what they're doing. I don't know if she took advantage of me not having a budget to purposely drag out the process to charge me per hour or if she has no idea what she's doing. Either way her time at Seven Four Seven will hopefully be short lived so she doesn't do this to other people. And when I reached out to the owner Sydney, instead of standing up for a loyal customer (use to see Amanda regularly but she had been sick) she kept repeating "well unfortunately there's nothing I can do about a refund since they make their own pricing". And Madison Parker makes all of her customers sign a waiver so they can't sue her or demand money back. So what I got after getting into contact with Sydney, the owner of Seven Four Seven, she feels as though the people that work there and represent her as a business, can scam innocent people as long as they pay her. This whole experience was honestly the worst I've been through involving what's suppose to be an exciting experience - getting your hair done nonetheless paying $600 to get your hair done for over fried hair. I got a recommendation on Facebook for Jessie at Seven Four Seven Salon, and she EXCEEDED my expectations! Her knowledge on hair and curls were incomparable to others. She was SO kind and extremely personable during the whole appointment! The salon in general was also adorable. The environment was extremely cozy, and very clean. Although I can't speak for the other stylists there, I'm sure they're just as great. I couldn't recommend Jessie more though. I came to do my hair with Lexy Vazquez works in Tacoma which was recommended for her experience with curly hair. Went in wanting to get a balayage. The more she looked at my hair did not think it was a good idea to go lighter due to being damage and having a lot of breakage. Of course it's not something I wanted to hear but wanted to work with her and see what could be done during the appt. We agreed on doing a hair cut, touching up my roots and do a treatment for the damage. She started by cutting my hair stepped out and when she came back she said she wasn't going to do my hair. Denied me services for me being "unhappy" on not going lighter. She's worked in the hair industry for 10 years and assumed I was unhappy for not getting a balayage. She felt in her gut I wasn't going to be happy with the results because it wasn't what I went in for. I've been told by multiple stylists they can't do certain things on my hair and I've always been okay with it. I'm not going to argue because they are the professional ones. But this time she wasn't being professional at all and went based on my mood/attitude. Keep in mind I waited 4 weeks to see her and I've only had 4 hours of sleep. Drove to Tacoma from marysville to be deny service. I was very calm throughout the whole time I was there. Tired from working 12s for the past 3 weeks. Hair cut was free but that doesn't take away the time I spend on the road and the lack of sleep to be able to get to the appt. I do not recommend her to anyone else. You either need to go in chery bouncing off the walls or she will denied you services. People that know me I'm very quiet and calm, don't complain of much but this was definitely my first and I did not feel it was fair to go based on my personality or to assume I would be unhappy by the end. She has definitely not meet different type of people and only sticks to a certain kind. read more

I received a haircut here last year July, I don't remember the ladies name who cut my hair but I was scheduled for 10:15 and as I arrived I walked up to the front door and I saw people inside but the door was locked so I thought to check another way in. One of the hairstylist came out at the alley door and told me to go around to the front and enter through there. I was like okay, thank you! As I walked in, I was laughed at because I tried opening the locked door. While I was getting my haircut, my stylist didn't talk at all to me besides asking how I wanted my hair styled. I kinda felt somewhat judged?? Unless that was just me. Once my haircut was finished, my stylist rang me up and I left. The haircut was overall okay.
