Came here with the passport, huge whiskey selection which I love, and the reason I came! However, the ambiance needs some work- was super dark and the music was so loud, I had a hard time hearing the bartender. Overall, I liked the staff and my drink was great. The bartender told us a lot about his favorite whiskeys (that I hope to try someday). One is named after an Irish castle! I'll come back for happy hour to give them a second chance. read more

Came in for my birthday on Sunday with another couple and my wife and were honestly underwhelmed. The menu was incredibly pricey and the bartender didn't seem overly interested in serving us/offering up any suggestions. I'd coordinated our reservations (that weren't needed as it was almost empty) and she was very nice, but the prices and lack of customer service left all of us very disappointed. Bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful in our selection. Gave us a few tastes to find out liking and picked out a few for us to chose from. Great great atmosphere. Warm and comfortable feeling. The happy menu is great. Everything is $5 and the Gold Rush was an excellent back to the bourbon neats. Played a few games of pool before the crowd rolled in. I enjoyed the ambiance and drinks at Seven Grand, but had a very poor experience with the over-zealous bouncer. The bar was very crowded so I'm not sure if he was just overwhelmed. In any case, the way he handled himself was completely unacceptable. He aggressively approached me and accused me of throwing something at the pool table. I explained that he must have confused me with someone else, but his mission was already set. He refused to leave me alone and quite frankly, I had no interest in sticking around at a bar where I clearly wasn't welcome, so I went to go gather my belongings. He then followed me around, got in my face and continued to harass me, yelling at me to get out. Again, I explained that he was mistaken and he incessantly got in my face and yelled at me to leave. He wouldn't give me a legitimate explanation as to why I was being kicked out. I left. Never have I been spoken to like that and don't wish that degrading experience upon other customers. Shortly after, two more people from my party also got booted in the same manner. Not a good experience to say the least and I'm very disappointed that this type of behavior is considered acceptable. Seven Grand is a great bar with pool and generally friendly staff. But after this experience, I won't be spending another dime on this establishment. I have no interested in being berated and talked down to. Treat your customers like human beings and maybe you'll get repeat customers. read more

First off, let me say that the whiskey, whisky, and drinks selection here is MASSIVE. Coming from an avid whiskey drinker, the bourbon bible (bourbon list) was very impressive. I rated Seven Grand 2 stars for our specific experience here with the staff. I had asked for a specific Japanese whiskey. The waiter, who ignored us for 70% of the time, mentioned that he had A Japanese whiskey for me to try. 20 minutes later, a different person (maybe the bartender?) comes over with 2 different whiskeys. He doesn't explain them, nor does he give me the names of them. Fast forward another 30 minutes, the original guy comes over and apologizes and asked if I liked what he suggested. To which I replied I did not try them because I don't know which is which or what I'm required to pay for (since I only wanted 1 expensive choice). He ended up dumping them out and getting a re-pour. Finally explained that it was a half pour in each. This whole situation left a very sour taste in my mouth. All in all, I like the vibe, the whiskey list, and I think if they were not as busy we would have had a better experience. I may be biased but I don't think I'll be going back next visit to Denver. read more

Wife and I are into whiskey and have been to many whiskey places. We went to 7grand in San Diego and were blown away with the selections. So excited for 7grand in Denver. I spent time researching their online whiskey menu and was excited with their choices and prices. Got to the bar around 7:30pm on a Friday so it was easy to get a seat at the bar. The whiskey list in the bar is completely different from the online menu. They had none of the whiskeys I had picked out. And the prices were much higher. The girl waiting on us said the online menu is not accurate???? So please management fix the online menu. We left and went to a different bar. Anyway. From my brief time there, it seems like a cool place for mixed drinks and they do have a lot of whiskey. Just don't expect to find the Pappys or BTAC's or Parker's Heritage, etc. Even though they are on the online menu, at this time they are not in the bar. read more

We popped into Seven Grand on Easter Sunday around 4 pm, excited to finally give it a try. There were maybe 10 patrons total, so we sat down at the bar hoping to strike up a conversation and try something new. I told the bartender that we're going to Scotland this summer, and mentioned the names of some of the regions we'd be in. I asked if there were any killer whiskies he recommended from those areas, as I wanted to try something new and get a little educated on Scotch. His response, verbatim: "Honestly, I don't know a whole lot about whiskey from there, I would hate to give you the wrong impression of it, I mean, you're going to Scotland anyway so I feel like you should just experience it in person." Um, what? I thought this was a whiskey bar! Like, their whole THING is whiskey! Okay, so even if he was new, no mention of "hey let me grab ______ s/he can tell you more than I do" or, "it's not from Scotland but I highly recommend..." - no, nothing! I ended up getting the whiskey sour which was tasty, but very weak. There was also a highly inebriated group playing pool and absolutely screaming at the top of their lungs, which was mildly disconcerting, but not anything the bar had control over. All in all it was a super disappointing experience, especially since we thought a quiet afternoon would be a good time to try some different whiskies. No plans to return :/ read more
