I can sew, so when I take something to a tailor, I am usually looking for downright wizardry. I had a vintage jacket, of some unknown material, that was a hot mess (it feels like suede, but is machine washable, so obviously is not suede). This jacket needed many of the seams reinforced and the interior lining repaired. I shopped around extensively, because I didn't want it to emerge from the tailor looking a different kind of hot mess (a good wizard is hard to find). Having the repairs completed was a surprise gift for my partner and this jacket was his fathers... so, big deal. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Sew Perfectly -- the jacket looks brand new. It's impossible to tell where the work was done. The price I was quoted (which was the same price I paid) was very reasonable... much lower than prices I have paid for jacket alterations at other tailors. I was given a reasonable turn around time, and my items were ready on schedule (for fun, I also had a pair of pants hemmed -- they are impeccable). Five stars, earned. read more

Was in from out of town for a wedding and had a wardrobe malfunction on the way to Arizona. Looked up Sew Perfectly as it was across from my hotel. I walked my jacket over around noon and was told they could get it to me at 5pm the same day! Was in a bind for a dinner that evening and they totally bailed me out. Very professional and friendly. Lee is amazing! I used her for all my wedding needs! She hemmed my wedding dress and did the bustle for less than I would have paid at David's Bridal, she fixed my husband's suit last minute with no extra charge a few days before the wedding (which was incredible, I was so stressed about it being so last minute... you know men! But she did a great job and was really nice about it!), she made kimonos for my bridesmaids FROM SCRATCH (no other place in Tucson would even consider it -they were a bit pricey, $375 each, but she did a great job), she made fabric butteries for boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen, AND she made table squares for all my tables at the reception! Lee did excellent work hemming 2 pairs of new slacks. She honored my request to save the extra material in case I needed new belt loops in the future. Mine seem to wear out and become frayed- probably because I drive a lot. Her establishment is very tidy and organized as other reviewers have noted. My work was ready on the day and time she promised. I also had a patch sewn on to a backpack- I don't think she had ever seen a Grateful Dead patch before :) The patch was placed perfectly and I couldn't be any happier. I can only comment on the work I had done. I would imagine that she would deliver the same level of service for women's alterations as well. Her rates are very competitive especially when you consider how promptly your alterations are ready. Our family is relatively new to Tucson and I am delighted to have discovered Sew Perfectly. I only felt being insulted by the woman who pin my dress. All I did was suggesting a little loser in the front and tighter on my back, because before that I was standing bow-backed. She just quickly removed all pins and said I'm too difficult and she'll never make me satisfied. I felt so shocked because I thought we were happily communicating with each other and I thought she is very professional. What a bad temper! If she couldn't stand customers giving their opinion she should said that before we started pinning! I asked her what did her mean that I'm difficult, I'm happy with the way she did. I think maybe she didn't mean that since she doesn't speak English well. Then she started to say my dress requires too much work and she couldn't do it, by using a rigid attitude. It's so awkward! She also said I wanted too perfectly which I wasn't. We've only started to pin 5 minutes! And now I feel it's ironic when she said that because the later on I found the store name is sew perfectly. I brought 4 items to sew and she didn't ask if I'd like to do other items. She didn't say goodbye when I walked out of the door. It's the worst customer experience I've ever had! The tailor is so humble and down to the earth. I like her personality and hard working attitudes. I bought a vest that doesn't fit me at all. I wear either small size or extra small. I have no words to describe my experience with this shop. My wife has used them to alter her interview suites but more importantly she recently used them to repair her wedding dress which had been originally altered by a tailor shop associated with the bridal shop where she purchased the dress. My wife had gone in for her final fitting at the bridal shop and she came away extremely disappointed. With only a week to go before the wedding we were in dire straights to have the dress altered correctly. My wife remembered the amazing work that Lee had done on her suits and she decided to take the dress to Lee. Lee went above and beyond to make sure the dress was looking as good as it could by the wedding day. She had Kelly come in for a couple of fittings and worked late into the night to get the dress repaired. When she finished her work she had repaired the mistakes that the other shop had made and my wife looked stunning in the newly altered dress. This place is great! I had to have a prom dress altered six days before my prom. I read the reviews about Sew Perfectly on here and I decided it sounded like a good place. Lee was able to remove several yards of fabric from the bottom of my dress and turn it into a corset (the dress was a couple inches too tight) in the back-- in only three days!! The price was great, especially given how much fabric needed to be removed. When I went to pick up the dress she even steamed the bottom for no extra charge! I highly recommend This place. Lee does an excellent job pinning and fitting. She is a perfectionist, which is exactly what I wanted. The alterations needed for my evening gown were complex. I am petite and the gown was designed for a tall person. She found some unevenness in the original dress, and she also corrected some alterations of their own in my second fitting. Beware! They charge double what everyone else does. And the items they were to take in were still too large. One zipper was bulging due to poor workmanship, so I had to bring it back to be corrected. I am beyond pleased with the service I've received here. I've brought several button up shirts and pants that were expertly tailored to my body and preferences. Most amazingly, she took in 3.5 inches through the hip section of my new leather jacket. I have disproportionately wide shoulders and have never had a structured jacket that fit me properly. In my thirties I decided to finally go for it and get a leather jacket that fit through my shoulders and try to get it tailored. She did such an amazing job and even lined up some very tricky seems in the back. It looks like it was made for me. I didn't think it was possible to have a jacket that wasn't right through the back and shoulders and/or baggy around my hips. She's also done repairs for me like fixing a button, belt loop, and hole in the crotch of my husband's shorts. Everything was perfect and well priced. And I got things back faster than I expected even though I said there was no rush. I used yelp reviews to guide my choice and am happy to agree with all of the glowing reviews. She's amazing at figuring out how to make your clothes fit their best, answers questions helpfully, and is so nice. The shop is welcoming and run efficiently. I needed to have a dress taken in, and brought it to Sew Perfectly. The owner had me in my dress and was expertly fitting it within minutes. She gave me the option of picking it up any time and we decided on a date a week and a half after I dropped it off as I didn't need it immediately. The day after dropping it off, I found out I actually needed my dress 5 days sooner than we agreed upon. When I called Sew Perfectly the owner told me it wouldn't be a problem to have it done (much to my relief!) and when I picked up my dress, it was absolutely perfect. I've never been to an alterations place before and this was a wonderful first experience! I asked for the slit in my dress to be brought up 2 inches and for it to be ironed and it only costed me about 22 dollars- which was a small price to pay for the beautiful workmanship! The slit was identical when I came to pick it up, I couldn't even tell where they had done the alteration. It was very timely as well- I was able to pick it up 2 days earlier than I needed it on short notice. I will definitely be going back for any other alteration needs! read more

Lee has been doing alterations for me for awhile. Lately, I gave her a new challenge: I have several silk jackets that I really like. Unfortunately, they were purchased in the 1980's when I was working...which means that they had extra large shoulder pads and were extra long. Lee put in smaller shoulder pads, lifted the shoulder seams, made the pockets smaller, shortened the length, and adjusted the lining to match the changes. Essentially re-making the jackets. However, I now have jackets that I can wear again and at a cost a lot less than buying new jackets. If you need a very good tailor, Lee is the one. read more

I just had my wedding gown done with Lee, the owner of Sew Perfectly, who is an absolutely wonderful seamstress and a delight to work with. I consider my wedding dress to be the most important garment I will ever have someone work on, so I was extremely nervous about getting it altered (and it needed a lot of work!), but she did an amazing job. I found her shop after having been to another seamstress in town that made me very discouraged about the work the train would require to bustle, in addition to fitting the dress by taking it in at the bust and waist. The dress has 6 layers of fabric sewn together with intricate lace detail, and where others expressed that it was practically impossible, Lee was confident yet extremely careful. She found a very secure and beautiful way to arrange the bustle and did so in a way I am extremely happy with. She should take great pride in the work she does. She is very clear with what she will do, and does exactly that. She even found a creative fix to a last minute change I wanted and made it look flawless. She is so good, one of my bridesmaids even ended up having her tailor some work pants on the side!
