Lady who worked there is the expert with bridesmaid and wedding dresses! She is very knowledgeable and knows how to fix a ruined dress! I had a bridesmaid dress with a hole in the back from being dragged on the floor and there were some dirty spots as well on the dress. I panicked and went to this place and in a couple of hours, the lady texted me saying the dress was ready! She ended up sewing over the spots and she did such a fantastic job covering the hole and cleaning the dirt! She charged me a very fair amount and I was extremely grateful for the work she did on my dress. I highly recommend this place for any tailoring! This woman is the expert! read more

Miracle worker! The tailor at Sew Sweet saved the day. Family members flew to MA from FL to be in a friend's wedding. The bridesmaid's dress was damaged en route - holes and ground in dirt in the middle of the dress! Horrible, but the miracle worker here saved the day. She took our emergency call and bent over backwards to have the repair done in a few hours. Just in time to leave for the rehearsal. We felt the amount she charged was more than fair. So grateful for her good service and talent. She turned around a very stressful situation. She has also saved me in multiple stressful situations, and has been more than helpful. As for the pricing, I have compared her prices to other places and haven't noticed Sew Sweet to be particularly expensive. I also believe that the pricing reflects the high quality of work and therefore I will continue to be a happy loyal customer to them. The tailor used wax-based chalk and stained a gown. She quoted us a price of $130 to hem a 2 layer chiffon dress. We took our business elsewhere. Sew Sweet Tailoring was an absolutely incredible tailor. Not only did she ensure my wedding dress looked perfect for my big day, she absolutely went above and beyond for one of my bridesmaids. I called them on Thursday afternoon to ask about alterations of my wedding gown for my Saturday morning wedding knowing that the request was outrageous. We decided to have our wedding last minute because my mom is very sick and we really wanted her to be a part of it. The people at Sew Sweet agreed and had my dress finished the next day. I brought my maid of honor dress here to be fitted. The size I had originally bought (online) was very big, she explained what alterations were necessary and it was going to be a big job. Since I was still dieting and actively losing weight I asked her how long would she need to fix the dress if I sent this one back and ordered the smaller size? she said two weeks. I was able to send back the dress and get it back to her with much less work needed. I liked that she was honest and was willing to wait for me to try the smaller size. She wasn't pushy about just making the alterations to this dress so she could charge me the higher price. When I got the smaller size I went there and tried it on and it needed typical adjustments, straps and bust line. The dress is heavily beaded, she worked wonders altering it. I was so pleased when I went to try it on when it was ready. That was in May, I just brought another casual dress to her to fix for me that I shrunk out of, I trust her work with and expensive formal dress or something casual. read more

My dress came from the BHLDN in Watertown, MA - which does not have any tailoring services available - leading me to Sew Sweet. I realize that most people think this is expensive. This is usually because it is in addition to something they already bought and now they still have to alter it. Buy it right the first time then. This is a business. They need to make money in order to stay in business. If hemming pants would be so simple, then do it yourself. I have been here many times, from simple hemming to altering jackets. Just now I have my daughter's prom dress in there. Sure, we paid a lot of money for the dress already and I know it will cost quite some money to have this taken in. People simply don't realize how much work goes into that. What might seem simple to some, can be a job that takes hours. Do you complain when the plumber or the electrician charges you? I found the prices reasonable and the services excellent and I know the prom dress is in good hands. I don't need a tailoring all that much, but when I do, this is the place to go. read more

I went in to this shop with my 18 month old twins to get their pants hemmed for my upcoming wedding. The girl helping us was nice and worked quickly which is helpful with two of them running around. I was told the pants would be ready on a tuesday, 4 days before my wedding. I couldnt make it in tues so i went by late wednesday afternoon and was told she hadnt done them yet. Luckily they were done thursday but i was a bit annoyed since we had a lot to do thurs and had to add an extra trip in. The two pairs of pants came to $30! I was shocked but should have known. This bad review is not for quality of service, but for the prices. I recently had two pairs of $15 nursing scrub pants hemmed. Shame on me for not asking for a definite price quote when I dropped them off. When I picked them up yesterday, she charged me $14 per pair. I paid $28 to have simple scrubs hemmed an inch, when I paid $30 to buy both pairs of pants. I left Sew Sweet with an uneasy feeling in my stomach and a lump in my throat, knowing I had been completely taken advantage of. Even though she's a skilled tailor, I can't recommend her services because of the bad feeling I was left with. If you have money to blow, then go here, but there are plenty of tailors out there who will do just as nice a job, and will charge a fair price. read more

Brought my over $300 north face jacket to be sewn because it had a rip on the sleeve. I was told it would be sewn together and when I received the jacket back, I noticed a patch on the sleeve which I thought was fine. Until I tried to belt my jacket. I realized the belt had somehow been twisted and wasn't buckling correctly. Then it dawned on me. They used a piece of the belt to patch the rip. Now my jacket will not belt because the belt is too short. Would've been nice to be told ahead of time they were going to slice and dice my jacket. Had been using them for alterations in the past but will not be using them any longer that's for sure. read more

Brought in a dress with zipper to be repaired and they were able to accommodate me and have it ready by the next day as I was leaving for vacation. I'm not sure how I felt about this place. When I first came in to try on my wedding dress, no one helped me zip up the back so I waited for someone to come help me. I wasn't given a quote on how much it would cost when I came in. (I didn't even think of this until friends and family said they should have). Then they told me it would almost 4 weeks until I had my second fitting and then like 4 days before my wedding to pick it up! So I called to see if I could change the dates, the girl said she would call me back and never did so I called back the next day. They did however get my dress done before they said they would which I am grateful for! But the cost of the total alterations was a bit too much! $450 dollars for a small take in on the sides, (my dress was a size 2, and I'm a 100lb girl), about 3 inches hem on the bottom, and 3 bustles. They told me they would add cups, but when I picked up my dress they didn't. My dress DID come out very awesome I must say! But Not sure I would come back here again. read more
