So I go and have a coffee/walk for 30 minutes and no one is there and the sign is still up when I return. Breaks are necessary and there has to be a more considerate system for customers while allowing for those breaks. I really want to spend money in this store, it's so cute! There were really nice stickers and postcards. After exploring the store for several minutes, we picked few magnets and stickers. Staff members were friendly and interacting with guests. Everything in this shop made for a great gift, from stationary to stickers to apparel for all ages, and even Portland themed children's books. The staff were super friendly and helped look in the back to get me more sizes in the children's shirts. This was a nice stop for souvenirs without paying airport prices.

I find the best candles here--Rachel Beyer candles are lovely and perfectly scented. We stopped in here after playing a round at the Wonderwood Mini Golf. It had been hot and cramped and we really needed a drink. The door was being held open by a line of people and usually that is a great sign. Being busy is awesome for the business and I am glad they are so popular. It was a weekday, probably around 11 am and there were just so many people in line. It was really cute inside but SO chaotic. There were tons of kids screaming and at times it was difficult to tell where the line really was. After about 5 minutes of the line not moving, I started to get a slight headache from the noise and we agreed we would have to go somewhere else. It was probably for the best as all the indoor and outdoor seating was full so there would have been nowhere for us to eat even if we had braved the line. I think when a business reaches this level of popularity, it's important to put systems in place to keep patrons from feeling crowded and overwhelmed and it's definitely something they might want to look into in the future.

The shop is maintained beautifully, and my group was greeted warmly by Catherine who was working the store during my visit. She gave my group a thorough explanation of all the specialty salts available, and explained the differences in cultivation & flavor profiles of fleur de sel, sel gris, flake, smoked, and shio salts just to name a few. I loved trying the chocolate salt! We also learned about all the different origins and makers of the chocolates available as well. Catherine was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to detail, she made the shopping experience feel fun and comfortable. We ended up purchasing the black truffle salt, sel gris, hana flake salt, the meadow's own backyard blackberry patch & strawberry dark chocolate bars, a few other dark chocolate bars, some of the delectable small individual chocolates at the counter - and we couldn't resist also buying the cutest tiny fairy star salt spoon, too. Wandered in on a sunny afternoon with zero expectations and stayed a good 20 minutes making several laps around the store. In the center is a large tree structure adorned with dozens of adorable cat stuffed animals, with leaves made of huge paper globes in rich teals and purples, and hanging flower lanterns. The walls are filled with cat pictures, many original art from local artists. in fact, many of the items in the store are made locally. They even conduct workshops where you can make some of them, like the hanging flower lanterns. There are notebooks, hair clips that look like a cat, figurines, keychains, scarves, tote bags, and various purses, wallets and crossbody bags. For the kitchen there are bottle openers, coctail stirrers, coffee mugs and the cutest cat spoons that hang into the mug. Yep, bought a silver one! The art - various paintings, prints, note cards - is fun & whimsical. I loved the Purrmaid and the octopus with a cat head! So creative. The owner is delightful. She and the other owners created an inspiring space that encourages one to browse and marvel, and lets you do just that without any pressure. I told her how much I loved the shop and made a point to say, it's not just for crazy cat ladies. And then pondered over that terminology when people who have dogs, and won't go anywhere without them, are not called crazy dog ladies. She loved that perspective. Loving cats sometimes gets a bad wrap, but in this shop, crazy cat ladies, cat lovers, or anyone who appreciates creative art and gifts are welcome and can find enjoyment. I left with my new cat spoon and a tortoise shell cat clip for my hair, which I proudly wore that night!
