I was born in a small village just outside San Diego, called El Cajon. It was referred to as the meth Capitol of the world in an X Files episode, which is a pretty accurate portrayal. Anyway, this does not really pertain to my review so I'll skip ahead. My family is into health and fitness and I started going to fitness shows and working out at about age 25. Which also does not pertain to my review so let me jog ahead. (I forgot to mention that I moved to Los Angeles, Studio City in 1997.) I only just got back into the gym after a three year hiatus and the only reason for the long break was recreational drug use. Which I'm not proud of, but hey, I'm back. I've now been working out for just over a month and I finally discovered this great little store. Sexy Nutrition. I'm not a huge fan of GNC, and prefer smaller shops. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have not tried the pre or post workout shakes yet, but I'm looking forward to it. read more

Walk by this place all the time on the way to the gym. Stopped there today feeling groggy, but knowing I HAD to workout. Thought I'd stop in and ask for a quick pre-workout drink. He won't try to up-sell you on stuff you don't need and takes a personal interest in repeat clients and those that sign up for the Total Body Transformation. They also draw blood for medical tests and work in collaboration with doctors, so this is much more than a vitamin store. Ive worked out all my life on and off and never even thought about supplements, thats was until i talked to jason at sexy nutrition. Yeah he is a nutritionist, and had all the certificates, but more importantly he takes the time to understand your eating and working out habits. He instructed me to first do a cleanse for 30 days ( wasn't pleasant, but definitely worth it). I avoid these places like the plague. I usually get the condescending, " I know way more than you guy" that looks at me wondering why I'm even in here. Jason made us AN AMAZING protien shake and then took time out of his night to help us identify health struggles we are having and gave us recommendations on what to do. Mind you all we bought was 1 protien shake and we never felt like we were being told anything just to buy something from him. It was the opposite. He also took the time to remind us that we look great and our fitness journey was not about how skinny we could get but how healthy we could be. Ha! I LOVE this place! Basically an unremarkable supplement store latching on to the neighboring gym and trying to funnel in business with an obnoxious maze of dayglo placards, tables and other sundry marketing gimmicks, juxtaposed and scattered around as intentioned obstacles on the pathway leading to said gym. Of course, the abundance of poster pictures of the ubiquitous and narcissistic Roland, sexy person extraordinaire, serve as irrefutable evidence that if you purchase items here you too will have a physique to match. Important I guess if you really want to look like a saline infused Michelin man, sexy to some I suppose. There are occasional lab coat wearing employees, trying to look qualified and scientific and holding out trays of samples, looking a bit like a cross between the Six Million Dollar Man doctors and the "brain food" selling groups of the 90's... "...we have the technology" Personally - just IMHO, if I have to know about nutrition I don't attach a lot of credibility to "gym talk" specialists, and if I need supplements I find them at a fraction of the cost by shopping online at the many vendors - Amazon, Soap.com etc... all the same products at a fraction of the price... ... of course you may miss out on the carnival side show ...very amusing! read more

I spoke with Roland and he picked out the supplements that would help me most, he didn't try to sell me everything in the store. The proteins that they carry are extremely high quality. You will pay more than at Costco or whatever, but you get what you pay for.
