I went to Gil yesterday for the first waxing of my life. I got a full-body wax. I did this as a bit of a lark, as part of a fundraising project. My initial thoughts were that this would be a one-time thing - sort of a "bucket list" event. Wow, was I mistaken! I can totally see how this would be a thing I can do on a regular basis! Gil was easy going, professional, friendly, and set me at ease immediately. Considering that this was my first waxing experience, I was rather on edge as my appointment got closer, but once I arrived at his studio, Gil made me as comfortable as I can imagine. I told him that since this was my first time, and I would put myself in his experienced and professional hands, and he delivered. He was very good at gauging my pain levels and adjusting the process accordingly. He was very sensitive about making sure that the wax wasn't too hot, making sure that I was comfortable with the "private areas," and was good at reassuring me that everything was going as it should. He was honest with me about what areas would hurt more or less than others, and, as I said, adjusted the waxing method based on my reactions. Gil pays incredible attention to detail. His cleanliness methods are top-notch. He never double-dips in the wax, so I know that the wax on my body is completely clean. He uses gloves, and changes them regularly to make sure that they are not compromised. He is immaculate with the removal of trimmed hair. The studio is clean and pleasant looking and smelling. Gil himself is very professional in appearance as well - clean-cut and professional. On top of that, Gil is simply a nice guy, and fun to talk to. I went to Gil for a massage this past weekend. I texted him with very short notice because my back was killing me from trying to "up my game" at the gym. He was kind enough to squeeze me in on a Saturday afternoon. I've had several massages at other high end spas and NEVER felt like I got my monies worth. Gil was ready for me when I arrived and his room was so calming, especially after I had to cut through a march/protest to get there. After answering a few key questions about my issues, he went to work. He got right into the deep tissue massage and worked out all of my kinks from head to toe. Best part of all there was no talking just the soothing sounds of the background music, which is what I want during my massage. Amazing first experience getting a professional trim done. From out of town and saw Gil who kindly made room for me in his schedule. Soon as I walked in Gil was extremely professional about the whole ordeal and never once felt like I was being judged or that things were awkward.
