Egg Foo Young is delicious!

This was a great find near downtown Westwood. Great food and congenial settings and open for a late lunch. Also had very yummy egg foo young!

New food.yummy Chinese food. Newly opened dine-in restaurant. Comfortable environment. A restaurant worth visiting.

a tray of food and a container of food

Not bad, not bad. I've been on the hunt for a good Chinese food spot in the area and it has been a challenge as I am very picky with my Chinese food. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and lobster sauce, an egg roll, and scallion pancakes. I'll give the shrimp and lobster sauce a 7.5/10 only because it could've had a little more flavor. They give you the nice plastic containers and not that styrofoam garbage. The egg roll was a little tough and stale and actually had my throat in discomfort after I ate it so I'll give that a 4/10. The scallion pancakes weren't the best but with the sauce was an 8/10. The delivery service was fast and the delivery man properly greeted me which a lot of places I find don't do so that is ultimately why I gave them a 4/5. The only thing I didn't like is when I initially called I was sensing a bit of a dry attitude because I was taking a little bit to decide what I wanted and was asking her questions about certain entrees. The woman taking my order abruptly dismissed me saying "I should call back when I figure out what I want." I understand you may be busy but the rudeness was uncalled for.

We came here last night for a holiday work dinner, with a reservation for 12 people. The set up of…read morethe grills made the seating awkward as we filled the chairs around the grill (8) but then had 4 people in a row taking over a little of the other one (even though it was not in use). We started by ordering drinks and 3 rolls of sushi. I didn't get their names since we just told them to bring out their best ones, which I think they interpreted as best sellers. All were very delicious, and the presentation was lovely. We all chose to do the hibachi; with some combination of filet mignon, chicken, steak, shrimp, or scallops. They started with making the rice, followed by the noodles (optional but $4 more per person), then the meat, and later the vegetables. They got everyone's order correctly and did a fantastic job of rationing the portions so that everyone got about the same. They also performed all the tricks including the eggs toss, the onion volcano /train, and tossing food / liquids into people's mouths. I found that because they make everything separate, my rice and noodles were cold by the time my meat and veggies were ready. It's a blessing and curse that you can see them cook in front of you. Blessing because you know how your food is being handled and can see the freshness of it, but a curse because you realize all your food is being cooked with the same "seasonings"/sauces. I personally thought it was a bit bland, but everything tasted fresh. The yum yum sauce was initially sweet, but after that, I couldn't pin point the flavor. Overall, it was a good time. Food quality I would say 3 stars, but ambiance and service is 4.5 stars. I think it's a good setting for corporate events. We didn't get any, but upon request it seems like they were blowing up little reindeer antler head bands. When we paid, they also gave us a gift card to use at a future visit which was nice.

The food was good, but the payment experience was not. I handed the server both cash and a card,…read moreand instead of applying the cash toward the bill, my card was charged for the full amount while the cash was kept. There was already a service charge included, yet I was still prompted to leave an additional tip. It felt misleading and should have been explained before processing the payment. Great food, but I left feeling frustrated by the billing process.

I was in the area for an errand . I only had time for a quick lunch. I Ordered a lunch special of…read morewings, bbq spare rib bone in , pork strips .It came with hot sour soup, pork fried rice. I ordered a small beef teriyaki appetizer. They've re -furbished the vinyl on the bar area chairs, and added tables in the back , removed old carpet and nice clean appearance hardwood laminate flooring and it really helps improve the experience. Well , a new waitress I never saw before was excellent and a much appreciated improvement. She left me a pitcher of water and was nice and cold ice water just what I needed as I was feeling parched . The Wings were beefy size, fresh fried excellent crisp skin, nice marinade taste . Pork strips were fresh and i always look forward to these dipping in the duck sauce . The single bbq rib was very good and nice char, beefy meaty . .. however I needed two of these in the lunch special or option as add on . The Beef teriyaki was excellent ginger flavors and had glistening hot with a slight surface char. Cooked Perfect , and decent size pieces ... The 3 piece order for 10.95 as a small appetizer, they offer a large as well. One piece of the beef a bit of a tough chew but still was all good. I must admit this was a positive reasonable lunch and much improved since a prior visit.

Gotta downgrade them from my previous 4 stars to 3-- and 3 might be generous. Some highs and lows…read moreover my last 3 visits, but way too many lows to ignore, even as a former fan and defender. -- Spareribs: Until the past year or so, I regarded Tahiti's spareribs as top 5, maybe even top 3. No longer. The last 3 attempts have all been reheats and all looking like a scattering of random bones from different racks, with charring the only strongpoint. Some were close to cold and some were tough to chew. On average: Average, but formerly elite. -- Egg Roll: A rollercoaster of quality on my recent visits. Narrower than before, but reliably celery-filled and crunchy inside. The shell is sometimes crispy, sometimes bendy, as if sitting around a while. Interiors sometimes moist, sometimes very dry. Flavor has been above average every time. Overall, above average to well above average, though formerly near-elite. -- Lobster Sauce: I've liked the relatively new recipe that's less like motor oil and more on the light side with whole black beans in the mix. But the most recent one was bland and watery. Still good enough to be average, but formerly near-elite. -- Sweet and Sour Chicken: Fingers merely flirting with crisp and typically low meat-to-batter ratio. Unusual topping of onions, peppers, pineapples, and no cherries, with a sauce that seemed an exact compromise/blend of the typical golden and red styles. Sour along with the sweet, but subtle. A little above average. -- Pork Fried Rice: Among my 3 recent visits, solid once, disappointing twice. Fresh once and long in the tooth twice, and varying levels of bland all 3 times. Minimal pork nuggetry. Typically lukewarm. Overall, average, but formerly near-elite. -- Orange Beef: Nice mix of sweet and tart (caramelly along with the orange), good crunch, and good quantity and thickness of the tender beef slices. Very solid dish, and it even rivals Bernard's version, which is saying a lot. A rare bright spot among recent visits. Seems like this place is mailing it in lately, as if they're knowingly cutting corners and sacrificing repeat dining business because their real money comes from the bar. It's a shame, because I used to be a big fan.
