August 2020: We bought a patio cover from ShadeWorks of Boise, Idaho and are very pleased. Our cover was a significant investment and we wanted a beautiful, quality, long lasting product. We got it! The sales, quote and design process was smooth. ShadeWorks uses a tablet to design your patio cover in real time at your home while you watch, so you can contribute to the process. They have a booklet of pictures so you can see everything. The final product and cost were exactly as quoted, no hidden costs or anything like that. I do recommend choosing your color from the samples and not from the booklet and booklet colors are slightly off. Trevor and Rob did the installation. They arrived on time, know what they are doing and did an excellent installation job. They cleaned up the work area nicely after completion. They are a good team and are friendly, professional and courteous. The patio cover is attached to your homes facia board and this requires soffit to be removed so support brackets can be installed. Honestly, I was nervous having someone remove soffit but Trevor and Rob did an excellent job. We decided to use footings for a strong foundation which requires a building permit and inspections. Trevor and Rob handled everything including obtaining the permit and handling the building inspector. Their work passed with no problems. Rob's concrete work looks great and matches the patio nicely. I had a ceiling fan support installed. They answered all my questions so I could install the fan myself later (ShadeWorks does not do electrical work nor can they make electrical recommendations, but they can explain how the support is to be used which is all I needed). In our initial steps to secure a Patio build, we contacted three separate businesses in the area.. The first showed up with nothing more than a notepad and pencil to record the details of the structure that we were looking to have built. Though polite and reasonably engaging, the one representative seemed in a hurry and took little to no notes and then was late in responding to me on details.. We moved on to a second business that never got back to us. Alas, SHADEWORKS responded to our inquiry immediately providing an online brochure representing all of their product lines with a host of photos. They were prompt in arriving for our first appointment and immediately had some idea as to what we were looking for and were able to answer questions with responses that we could easily comprehend. This is when we met Nick, who became the spearhead of communication with us throughout the process. I can't say enough about his professionalism and can-do attitude. He was quick to respond to any communication by us whether email or by phone and gave us a sense that we came first. We were kept abreast weekly of their schedule structure so that we never felt like we were out of touch. We are beyond thrilled with our experience with Shadeworks and the patio cover they provided. Had money down with another company in the Treasure Valley. The owner of that company could NOT give us a date as to when our patio cover would be installed nor could they provide information as to the measurements and placement of the footers. When pressured about this info (we wanted to build a deck first so we needed these key pieces of info to proceed) the owner of that particular company told us "perhaps they were not the right company to do our cover". In other words, take our sub-par customer service or go else where. That is called a "take away sell" and is a harsh tactic. Steer clear of any company who would use it. Called ShadeWorks and had Kenny come to our house and give us an estimate. The estimate was slightly more expensive but he was able to tell us exactly when we could expect our cover to be installed and gave us exact measurements. The two men that installed our cover were professional and personable. They cleaned everything up to include wipe down the entire cover which was no small job! Within a half hour of their departure, the sales representative Kenny followed up to find out if we were satisfied and I confirmed I was! We were trying to figure out what to do for shade after removing several overgrown trees in our backyard. The trees provided almost full shade all day to our swim spa and patio, and after removed, our spa was in full sun all day which rendered it useless for my disabled son. Nick from ShadeWorks came out to our house for the estimate. With some brainstorming, we decided a covered patio for the spa would be the perfect solution. In addition, we decided a pergola over the patio would nicely compliment the spa cover. The swim spa also has a handicap lift and they were able to make some custom accommodations. Shadeworks installed our patio cover recently and we're looking forward to all of the time we're going to spend out on our patio as soon as it warms up! We love its utility and it also looks great. The warmth of the brown really richens the look and it's going to be gorgeous this summer when the garden is in full color! It does let in more water than we anticipated (wondering if this is because we decided to go roof mounted, but this was the only option we wanted to consider because we wanted the extra height). Also, scheduling was a bit frustrating because of the weather conditions and delays due to water runoff from snow melting. However, we love the finished product and every person we interacted with at ShadeWorks was extremely helpful and easy to work with. we wouldn't hesitate to call them again for other projects on our property. read more

I just had my patio pergola installed today. It turned out more beautiful than I expected, if that is possible. I had a 3-man crew. All members were very professional, kept me informed thru the whole process, and even helped me find a company to relocate a down spout that needed to be moved. The crew did a fantastic job and were very conscientious about my pets, closing open gates and doors, and completely policed and thoroughly cleaned the area and side of house when project was complete. My new pergola effectively doubled my patio space. Looks like Christmas for my group of 6 will be properly spaced, masked, and more than happy to enjoy such a beautiful space. I moved into my house two years ago and one of my future projects was to replace my patio cover. Enjoying my pergola just installed by ShadeWorks. It is exactly like Andy designed it. While waiting for the installation, Nate emailed, or called every other week with updates. Cole and Jordan arrived yesterday and finished the installation today. Cole and Jordan were efficient, thorough, fast, and personable. I had a couple of questions while they were installing, and they answered them immediately. They did a great job and finished in the time frame estimated. I've dealt with various vendors while in the process of completing the exterior yard, and some were not friendly and felt like they were doing us a favor. I'm so happy with my pergola! I have a small back patio facing south. During the summer, it really heats up. The pergola reduces the intensity of the sun hitting the patio, and also the sliding glass door into my house. ShadeWorks completed the work on the pergola in a timely manner. Their staff were professional and ready to answer my questions. Their sales rep helped me select a reasonably priced design that is appropriate to my home. The installation was a two-step process. The concrete footings were dug and then approved. The actual build took only one day, as estimated on my contract.
