We enjoyed our visit to the Bad Elf pop up on Christmas in the Shady Grove Lounge. The decor was so cute and festive and the airstream trailer with bowling was so cool! Also, there's a pool table in the middle and other games to the side. It's good to note that it's first come, first serve open seating. We found a few seats open at a high top and noticed others were ordering from the bar, so I got in line to order. They made the drinks and brought them out to our table with a little puzzle book. If you complete the puzzles, you can turn it in and can win a prize. The peppermint White Russian was really good and came in a cute glass. The punch bowl drink, something like a snowfall blitz, didn't taste great until we asked the bartender to add sprite/soda water. It was heavy on the elderflower. We got to keep the fishbowl glass and that was actually fun to have the rest of the trip. read more

Stopped in to the Shady Grove Lounge on Saturday to check it out. It's located inside the Silverton hotel so there is plenty of parking onsite. When we arrived at 5pm, it was closed. Sign said it was open at 5pm, but apparently a staffing issue had them running behind. They actually opened around 545 pm which was fine. They were promoting some cider fest so a lot of cider drinks and cocktail on a specialty menu. We ordered a Modello to start and that was cold and delicious. Second round was a Mango cider which was crisp and delicious as well. A lot of flavor packed into that drink for certain. The atmosphere at shady grove lounge is pretty cool. Neat old tree above you and the airstream with bowling is cool also. It filled up pretty fast which is good for business. We thought we saw some $3 beer specials somewhere on a billboard or something, but we didn't get that anywhere in the actual bar. During our recent trip to Las Vegas, we were really looking forward to some of the Christmas pop-ups. The Shady Grove lounge, a.k.a. the bad elf, did not let us down. It was actually the most decorative Christmas bar we went to. And there were so many crazy things hanging around the room creating a really nice atmosphere. They have a pool table, two lanes for bowling, Jenga and other games like that. Over Christmas they had specialty drinks. Mine came in a fishbowl and that sparked a lot of conversation when I walked through the casino with it! The bartenders did not have an abundance of Christmas spirit but maybe they were just tired of looking at all of the crazy elves! read more

This place wasn't as big as I expected based on their social media hype, but it was still pretty dang cool as to how it was decorated in a casino bar. Their drinks were very tasty, including both the holiday ones, the cider flight, and their old fashioned. And their service was pretty impeccable with a really nice server who made sure we were attended to regularly and even offered us the free bad elf glassed for having visited and having their holiday special drinks. It was a pretty cool and unique experience for the Silverton and I'd gladly go back there next year for a nice after work happy hour. read more

My friend and I went here last night to check out the bad elf pop up bar. It was a Thursday night around 7:00 and we were able to get a seat at the bar right away. Scott was our bartender and he is so kind and awesome. We got a puzzle book to answer and hopefully win the prize. We were given a complimentary glass because we bought a holiday drink. My friend loved the rum rum Rudolph drink and I loved the peppermint White Russian, I did ask for no Mr black liqueur in it and Scott was so accommodating and it was my favorite. The brown haired bartender lady was also very friendly and I didn't get her name though. They are open until Dec 28 and we want to go again! read more

The decor was spot on, and the drink menu had terrific choices, but the tables were littered with dirty glassware and it took quite a while to get service. We heard the bartenders discussing how they planned to make an early last call so they could clean, but they definitely had time to bus the tables. I think this bar is a fun idea, but the execution is poor. read more

Although it's located in a locals casino, I really like the Shady Grove Lounge. It's not a great bar per se, but it's a casual place to grab a cheap drink (they change up their specials often) or hang out and play video poker. It's actually not even that smoky, which is a big plus. Living up to its modern wilderness vibe, there are trees in the bar and an Airstream trailer that hides a mini bowling alley. There's a retro road trip vibe that's surprisingly fun! The best thing about this bar are the holiday pop-ups! A couple of times a year the place gets a full makeover and while the themes sometimes sound a little cooler than they actually are, they're still a blast. During the Christmas season, Shady Grove transforms into the Bad Elf Bar. The place is decked out in thousands of twinkling lights, over-the-top holiday decorations, and loads of cheeky elf vibes. There's a festive cocktails menu but the special drinks are never really that good (so stick with the classics). It's silly and kitschy in the best way, and they really lean into the theme. In the springtime, there has been a fun Alice in Wonderland themed overlay. The decor brings bright flowers, trippy tea party décor, and more themed cocktails that sound a lot more fun than they are in reality. They seem to be getting better every year, and the whimsical quotient is perfect for Instagram! Neither pop-up is life-changing, but they do a great job making the lounge feel fresh and playful, and it's fun to see the space get a total personality swap. From previous reviews and photos, it looks like this lounge was last opened around the Christmas holidays. This is another fun bar that is transformed during the holidays into what is called The Bad Elf Pop Up Bar. The name is catchy and almost makes you wonder if some of the Elf's on the Shelf have been sent here when they have misbehaved??!! Ha! Ha! I had a good friend in town post Christmas and we wanted to go have a drink someplace festive. We had other friends that had been here so we decided to check it out. I am not super familiar with the Silverton Hotel and Casino, but we found our way to this bar. It is in the middle of the casino and sits back in a corner. There is a big sign so you can't miss it. Once we arrived, we found ourselves a quiet table towards the back of the bar where the pseudo living room was set up complete with a Christmas tree and other decor. There was a specific holiday drink menu which had some interesting drinks listed, but I was in the mood for a brew. My friend selected one of the holiday drinks and I believe it was the Sugar Cookie. Our bartender was very friendly, helpful and just all around great guy. My apologies for forgetting his name but he provided the best service. The bar is so festive and whoever decorates does a fantastic job. There is an airstream trailer onsite that features a cute little two lane bowling alley. Unfortunately, it wasn't working so we could not bowl. We did manage to get in a fun game of Jenga though. There was also a Foosball table. Billiards table and a large Connect 4 game. Came in for the cider flight event during the late summer/fall season. The bar is on the smaller side. They have mostly bar style seats and tall tops available. One set overlooks the casino. The bartender was also the table service. He was wonderful and efficient. The cider flights were fun, not a lot of variety. The pretzels and cider/pumpkin donuts were awesome... Overall, we had a good time attending the Bad Elf Christmas Pop-up Bar. It seemed a little unorganized and confusing in the beginning. You do have to go find a bartender if you bought tickets ahead of time. We personally decided to order 2 drinks per person immediately because we were unsure when we would get another opportunity. We played Jenga, Connect 4 and Foosball which was a lot of fun. They also had bowling, but we didn't get the opportunity to play that. We went out to the casino floor and played slots for some time before stopping for a midnight snack at Johnny Rockets. We had a good time! read more

Knowing full well that Christmas was 3 days away, the hubby and I came at this lounge's opening time to experience their holiday theme, Bad Elf. Good thing we came at opening because it was full of guests before the first hour ended. Before opening time, we got to walk around the space, and noticed signage stating beverage service wouldn't be available and guests should visit the lower bar beside Shady Grove for drinks. At opening time, there were already several small groups seated and 2 bartenders/servers were still prepping the space. 10 minutes in, perusing the tabletop menus for Bad Elf, the hubby walks up to the bar top and asks if we order at the bar, but was told that they'd be with us after seeing to the other guests that came in before us. Slightly awkward since there was no hostess to seat us, so we don't know how they're able to track which customers came in when. At least I don't think their current procedure would be accurate all the time. On top of having a special event/theme, the "first-come-first-serve" (or be seated) procedure really doesn't work out for everyone. Last night's experience, being surrounded by guests that purchased specific drink packages that didn't know there was no reserved seating for them or how the experience was supposed to work soured the environment. It made me cringe hearing a guest raise a passive aggressive tone because she was ignored, and thought it was a ticketed event/experience. The staff was nice when we got to talk to them. Decor is definitely cute. As for the menu, I thought there'd be more variety. Got the Old Fashioned that came in a seasonal glass, which was cute. Hubby got a punch bowl drink. Was it in the Christmas-spirit? I wouldn't say so. It's a menu of drinks I could find on a regular day with the name changed for the season. Is it a spot I'd like to return to? Not really. read more

The bartenders were friendly and it wasn't very busy when we got there so their was plenty of places to sit, but on a busy night I could see how this place would not be easy to find a space. We opted for the Baddest elf experience and for 1 hour of bottomless drinks we had 6 drinks and 1 shot...totally worth it!! We loved the airstream bowling just unfortunate it's a hit or miss if it works! When we got there one side worked while the other didn't, until the side that did work just stopped working! Shady Grove was a surprisingly good spot for a small group on a Friday night. A friend planned to come here as part of her birthday celebration and I enjoyed it. The bar let my friend make a reservation which is nice. They weren't crazy busy on a Friday night and I liked the mellow vibe. If a group comes for a birthday celebration the birthday boy/girl drinks for free. Here's what was most exciting. I ordered a sex on the beach and it was $6! $6!! The last time I had a cocktail that cheap was in college. It made my night. My drink was good too. I've been told they have a fun Christmas pop up bar and I'm hoping to return to check that out. **Bad elf pop up bar review** I've been to quite a few pop up bars around Vegas during the holidays and I have to say this one was probably my second or third favorite. It's a little bit hard to find since it's tucked away in the casino, just look for the airstream that has a mini bowling alley inside! They have a variety of different seasonal drinks, all vodka based which I loved. I tried almost all of the drinks and they were super tasty. My favorite was the Dirty Snowman. The prices were very reasonable and they also have different week night deals like industry night, ugly sweater night and a few more. The decor was also on point. I loved the cozy set up in the back and all of the lights. The only thing I wish they had was holiday music, but I'm sure they're limited with that due to the open air casino atmosphere. Me and my hubby wanted to check out this festive pop up bar and we are so glad we did. The Bad Elf pop up bar is so much fun. We sat there, near the makeshift fireplace and people watched as well as enjoyed the holiday decor. They have 5 holiday drinks to enjoy and we opted for the Santa's Spiked Cider and Mistletoe Margarita. The cider was warm and delish. The mistletoe margarita was also delicious but I preferred the warm cider. They do offer food options, but we had already eaten so we did not partake. There is a scavenger hunt you can do so ask the bartenders. If you are not up for that type of game, they have a pool table, foosball table and large jenga set. The best thing they have is a two lane bowling alley in a camper. The bowling alley was down but we plan to go back and try it especially since its only $3/a game per person. We prepaid for three of the Bad Elf Pop Up Bar experiences held here in the Shady Grove Lounge. They have it all decorated for the holidays. It's pretty cool! The bar was busy with a combination of people trying to solve the experience puzzle and others just hanging out. The drinks were very good. Our fave was the Candy Cane. The Graham shot and the Butterbeer were also pretty good. The pool table is free and they also have a foosball table. The Airstream bowling does cost money. As for the service, our server was very nice and did her best with as busy as it was. It was just her and the bartender. This would be a cool spot to hang out for the holiday pop up bar. You can google search Bad Elf Pop Up in Las Vegas to find the package we bought. It came with a drink, a souvenir glass, and the puzzle that gets you an entry into a drawing for a steak dinner here at the Silverton. The pop up is open until the beginning of January. Ladies drink free from 5-7? Seriously? I'm so there. The day before my birthday last week, I decided to take myself out. I grabbed a book and queued up my favorite podcasts, and headed over to the Silverton. The Shady Grove Lounge is a cute, small bar. It wasn't very busy at all, so I picked a seat towards the back, and started reading my book. My server...I think his name was...Dylan? Maybe? I should have written this review earlier, because I really can't remember his name. Anyway, he was super nice, polite, and prompt with the drinks. Ladies you should take advantage of this: beer, wine or well drinks are free. The night I was there I enjoyed 3 very well made Whiskey Sours. Awesome. Not wanting to take advantage of just free stuff, I also ordered the mini lobster rolls. Happy hour prices are great, and the lobster rolls were spectacular. For $12, you get a TON of lobster with a refreshing apple slaw on top. I absolutely will be heading back again soon, I want to try out some of the other happy hour menu items! I had a get together with a few females to take advantage of their Happy Hour, FREE for ladies everyday. Originally it was from 5pm-7pm but they recently changed it to 4pm-6pm. WHY? Good question.........I liked it better when it started @ 5pm & I heard this bar opens @ 4pm. So back in April I had my Meetup with some ladies. I didn't notify the venue I would be bringing in about 15-20 females as I wasn't sure how many were going to show up. Luckily the place wasn't busy when I arrived or the whole time we were there. I grabbed a couple tall tables near the back & there was one bartender who was fabulous that came over to us & took our orders. Other then my group there was probably only 2-5 other people in the bar while we were there. Jo was her name & she was super friendly, fast & got all our orders correct and kept our drinks full. I ended up chatting with her & apologized for not notifying them I was going to be bringing in a group. This would have made it a little easier on Jo but like I said she did a fabulous job with us. They have a little Happy Hour menu. I got the "mini" lobster rolls. Not sure why they are called mini when you get 2 full size hot dog buns that are buttered & nice & toasted. Soooooo yummy!!! Then you get them stuffed with lobster meat, they sure don't skimp out on that. Cost $14.00. Their portion sizes are a good size & everyone enjoyed their food too. I ended up recently coming back this month with another group of girls. I got in touch with Jo to let her know I was coming back with another group of girls. She informed me that she wouldn't be working that night but our bartender would be Bobby. I arrived just @ 4pm with another girl & there was no bartender in sight. I'm guessing he was getting the place ready since it was just opening. Soon after a male walked in, waited on 2 girls @ the bar & then came over to us. I asked him if his name was Bobby & he stated "yes." I told him who I was & we had excellent service from him too. I had about 16 girls show up, who were all drinking & a few of them were eating. We actually got another menu in addition to the happy hour menu which was bigger & we were allowed to order off of. I got the "min" lobster rolls again & they were sooo yummy!! No disappointment there. We enjoyed our time there & the great service from Bobby who also kept our drinks full. Funny we get so busy eating, drinking & chatting the 2 hours flies by. We haven't gotten a chance to play a game of pool, bowl, jenga or tic-tac-toe. I wish their happy hour was 3 hours long. Some of us went over to the Mermaid bar to try & catch the end of their happy hour only to find out that they "ran out of their well vodka & it would take too long to get another bottle." Really???? How do you run out of your well vodka during happy hour? Then you don't want to get another bottle or call a manager to get you one? This bartender was definitely not friendly or really nice. She also seemed very annoyed that she had to wait on us & make us drinks. We were not impressed with her @ all & ended up having to pay for a vodka drink. Not sure I will be going back to Mermaid bar again, or @ least when this one grumpy bartender is working. Its too bad cause the bar is really cute. Went here for my friend's birthday. It is inside The Silverton. They run a birthday special where the birthday person can drink for feee and your friend's drink 1/2 price. She had to make a reservation for the event. They have a 2 Lane Bowling Alley inside an airstream looking camper. The food service here was horrible. I ordered the hamburger sliders and I don't know what was happening in the kitchen, but my friend got her food and ate it and so did two other people at our table, and then it turned out my order was lost, so I waited an hour to eat. The sliders were good, but by the time they came out, I could've eaten a horse and said it was delicious. The bartender said the kitchen messed up. I think the bartender messed up. They added fries to my order to compensate my hour wait for food. They also had a foosball table and a pool table there This would be a good place to hang out with your friends if you're looking to spend your birthday inside the casino at a dive bar and drink cheaply. But if you end up gambling, you might as well go to a real bar. read more

A cool, retro poker bar tucked in the back of the casino. During sports season, the many TVs are tuned to that, and food & drinks specials coincide with the games. "Hoppy Hour" has food & drink specials, with a focus on local brews. The Airstream trailer with a "pseudo" bowling lane! is awesome. I believe it's $3 a game, and the poker themed couch in there is worth a visit. Shady Grove is very Silverton in its decor, with an outdoorsy theme and those giant chairs at the bar! It's also quite comfy. I noticed after a few visits that the local beers they have on tap are rotated, and the only ones I can recall having are Joseph James Red Fox & one from CraftHaus (Resinate?). One thing that bothers me is they sell a (small!) filled Silverton glass growler for $25. Whoa,,,,,,am I at a bar on the Strip? Me thinks not. I got one with a discount coupon from being a rewards club member. I wonder how many of those they sell?? There are seating areas throughout the bar and also in the Airstream. The machines have a progressive, which can get up close to $2000 for quarter play. My mom hit it at over $1900, and I was lucky enough to score a $1000 Royal here on Deuces. It's a nice area to grab some appetizers and drinks and usually isn't crowded. read more

The sign said FREE so I'm there. Yes, that is correct LADIES at the Shady Grove Lounge ladies drink FREE from 5PM-7PM. I mean they have food there too but I can't lie the FREE drinks is what got me over here. Now I do either play the machine OR get an appetizer while there, I am not trying to get TAGGED as that person. What I have tried on their happy hour menu is the PITA and HUMMUS Plate. No, I'm no humus aficionado but there are things that I do expect with my hummus. The tang of the lemon, the bite of the thahini and the olive oil all mixed together as this creamy dip...YASSSS I am here for it. And it is served with FRIED or BAKED pita chips. Not the hard, crunchy ones that you buy at the store, I'm gonna have to ask if the fry OR bake them but those are good by itself...then dip is in the hummus...MIND BLOWING! Ok, it was really good to me. It's a little bar, but intimate for if you wanted to get a little group together just to hang out. There's a pool table, mini 2 lane bowling alley and a jumbo jenga. Outside the free drinks for ladies, the prices are very reasonable. This bar is not opened all night, I think they close at 10PM, don't take my word for double check the time. But look for a low-key kind of night without spending a lot of money go check out the Shady Grove Lounge. Oh yea, maybe it's just the machine that I sit but everytime if playing at the bar I usually hit. I'm not a gambler, I do it to pass time but $22.75 off of a $3 bet....I'm happy with that, stack up enough $22.75's and that's 2 full tanks of gas and 3 car washes and of course a tip for my bartender. read more
