This is a very old business that puts out very good food. We had the burgers, they are small but tasty. My wife had the chili dog basket. Fries are excellent. Ice cold drinks. Friendly service. This is a drive in that you park and go to the window to order. There is a picnic table to eat out of your car. We ate in our car because summer is hot here. I love the drive-in restaurant concept. A unique piece of Americana, just the thought inspires the imagery of classic cars and girls on roller skates, rebellious teens and gum chewing girls, all existing to a rock and roll beat. This particular drive-in has been around for over fifty years and perhaps it is showing its age a bit, but it serves up cheap good food with side of nostalgia. I had their chili dogs and a chili burger. Both were good and all were ridiculously cheap. The hot dogs were a bit small, probably ten to a pound, but they possessed a lot of flavor and were cheap enough to get quite a few. Absolutely the worst chili dawgs I've ever had in my life. Soggy as can be, chili has no taste or flavor it's just ground beef in tomato soup, slaw wasn't good either. Don't know how this place stays busy I've had a about a million chili dawgs in my life and never had any that were this bad. read more

I usually have an affinity for hole-in-the-wall small businesses, and man I really tried to like Shady Lane, but I just couldn't. First off, ordering a chili dog, slaw dog, cheeseburger, and fries for $6 serves as a colossal yet alluring red flag. The cheeseburger was bought off the McDonald's dollar value menu and upcharged a few cents here. OMG I'm so glad we tried this place. The slaw dogs were the best ever. The coleslaw was like none I have had, with a tangy, peppery flavor. Our son loved his cheeseburger and fries. This good ole fashion drive inn has no bells or whistles, but it's definitely worth the stop. A throw back to the golden age of fast food, this place has all of the original details including the cool signage, the ordering window, and an iconic menu. When we approached to place our order, we were greeted by a friendly face and a 'Hey hun...what can I get ya?!' With several combos to choose from we decided to stick with the classics and ordered double cheeseburgers with fries. The order was yelled back to the cook in their own timeless lingo and we waited only a short time before our order was ready. If you decide not to take your food to go, there are several picnic tables that are shaded by their owning. We sat at one of these tables and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. The buns were buttery, beef patties perfectly cooked, cheese gooey and the fries salty and crispy. Yumo! If you want a good classic American fast food joint, this is it. read more

Man this place is still standing. I remember eating here when I was a little boy and this place still has some of the best hot dogs and chili dogs. It's a shame that most Mom and Pop type of stores have permanently closed their doors but this is one of the few that are still surviving in Tifton and actually doing well. It is one of those places that locals only really know about, so they have a very dedicated customer base here. This place is located downtown away from the Interstate 75 but accessible from Highway 41. It is mainly drive through service here and it doesn't take a long time to receive your food. I recommend the chili dog with mustard. Those definitely hit the spot! But feel free to try whatever type of "dog" you want. The prices are cheap here. Everytime I return back home I get a little nostalgic and reminisce about the good old days when I used to eat here as a kid on Fridays after school. I miss those days. read more

The bun was wet. The chili tastes like it came straight from a can. And not just any can. A can that somebody dropped under a counter 2 years ago, found it and put it back on the shelf. This is fast food at its best. This is not the place for you if you're looking for a vegetarian option. I would put Shady Lane's chili dogs up against the Varsity's. They are dirty and delicious. The fries are excellent. The place is amazingly cheap (most combos are under $4) and it's a total throwback to the kind of drive-ins that littered the country over 50 years ago. It's great if you're willing to leave behind the franchises hugging the interstate and drive into town a bit. read more

If you are looking for a good dose of nostalgia, then stop by at the shady lane. It's set up is similar to that of the Varsity or Sonic. I have only ever walked up to the window to order. The lady at the window was friendly, and we probably waited about 5 minutes for our order, and they had a decent amount of customers so I feel like the wait time wasn't bad at all. I had a chocolate milkshake and a chili dog. The chili dog is what you expect from a joint like this. Messy but tasted good. I actually really liked the milkshake. This is a cute little place that is definitely worth making into a traditional road trip pit stop if you travel through Tifton on 75. A place to make your trip memorable for your kids, and a chance to see an old downtown area revitalized. My extended family is from here, but it's fun to come back to Tifton and sometimes stop by just for old times sake. Look forward to coming back. read more

With all due to Nu-Way , these are the best hot dogs in Georgia! They don't seem to have any cinnamon like Nu-Way making for a far superior chili. Their slaw is also finer chopped making it easier to eat. read more

Absolutely the best chili dogs that rival my home town's old Frost Top drive in. There's something special about a good dog, smothered in chili sauce (we call them coney's up home) served on a soggy bun. The fries are always fresh and tasty. Inexpensive to boot. You can't go wrong here. read more

Ate here with my boys while driving back to Atlanta from Florida. Great hole in the wall joint, everything you'd expect for a simple, tasty and super cheap hot dog joint. It's not 5 star dining and it's not supposed to be, that's part of the charm. Definitely would reccomend to any hot dog lover and will certainly be back soon. read more

This place is worth the short drive from the interstate (actually EVERYTHING in this small southern town is a short drive from the interstate). It's been around for over 50 years and I don't think the menu has ever been changed. Great chili dogs and the slaw dogs are the best I've ever eaten. Service is spotty, it just depends on whether the cashier is having a good or bad day, but the food has been consistently good for about the last 40 or so years. Seating is outside only but if it's chilly out eating in your car is always fun! read more
