Just off the main drag in a plaza, this supermarket is great for grabbing essentials, beer, and more. It's the main grocery store servicing the entire Lake Placid area. I used the bathrooms which were clean and easy to find. They had the makeup remover wipes I had forgotten, and great snack options for the drive back home. I would recommend anyone coming into town to stop here!

Dropped in the downtown store the week before Memorial Day and was quite impressed. Cleaner and spruced up a bit. Better quality produce that looked fresh, excellent meats, and well stocked shelves. Really enjoyed our T-bones, USDA choice but marbled like prime! Hope Tops keeps it up. On a second visit, the young cashier should give up trying to juggle the food from one hand to the other. The Tops Market experience:…read more Went to Tops Market this past Monday. They were rearranging their produce section, mid-morning (not before nor after hours, as logic would suggest). There were four employees, including one Store Manager, standing around watching one employee work, moving signage, pricing labels, produce, etc. Those four other employees, including that one Store Manager, were just getting in the way of shoppers, whom were trying to find the mess of produce. As I asked for parsley, lettuce, and a few other items, no one could tell me where they were. Tried to go back to Tops Market the following Wednesday, late morning. There were no peaches, nor lettuce, nor Roma tomatoes, nor green onions, nor a number of other produce items yet stocked for the day. Upon asking if I could get some of those items, an Employee simply said "they're not out yet". Tops Market recently merged with Price Chopper. For those that don't know, Tops Market has been through some very rough years, from numerous downsizings to bankruptcy to buyouts by private equity firms, to a management buyout, to a merger. Yet despite these desperate attempts to survive, they can't seem to comprehend the value of quality service. Tops is riddled with incompetence, laziness, lack of service, unfriendliness, unempowered employees, etc. It's no wonder Tops can't compete. I suggest Tops Markets change their tagline to Tops Unfriendly Markets.

Visiting family for the holidays and being in the area we needed to grab some quick things. This was the convenient place to go for sure. Not much overall to say, almost everyone is aware of how Walmart is and has visited one. I typically would rate one star for many reasons for being a miserable place to shop. The reason I am giving two stars though is because the overall cleanliness and setup was far superior to any back in Maine. The care and attention to specifically the clothing section was surprising. I'm so use to clothes being thrown all over the place and not much looking neat. So this was quite the surprise. Still not a spot I care for but did think it deserved the slight recognition with two stars.

She was able to hear and talk a little bit and my mother was putting things in the cart as she scanned our stuff she scanned our fishing pole which had the option to put a warranty on it and she yelled at my mother to "pay attention" because she needed to click yes or no. Apparently being polite to customers isn't a requirement anymore.
