Absolutely disappointed in the Sioux Falls location. I've visited the other location multiple times and have had nothing but a great experience. What's worse is that I took someone who is new to Indian cuisine with me and their experience was less than stellar. Not exactly the experience I wanted them walking away with. Service was super slow. We were seated and then they forgot about us for over 20 minutes. And not like we were tucked away in a corner. We were front and center by the main area. But, nope. We were apparently invisible. Eventually someone realized we had not been helped and finally took our order. The food was mixed. The vegetable pakoras were decent, and the highlight of the evening. Paneer Tikka Masala was a bust. Plenty of paneer, but the sauce itself was weak and lacked much flavor or depth. The naan was decent. Door Dash never showed up to pick up my order (and didn't answer the phone when I called). When I spoke to Shahi, they were super helpful and when I showed up to get my order, the gal said she put it back on the warmer once she knew DD wasn't coming. The garlic naan and vegetable pakora were amazing (even better when fresh, but still great), but the customer service can't be beat. That alone will make me a return customer. read more

The mirror is right behind the toilet in the men's room, so if you're standing and going number 1, you have a "grand view," which I was not expecting. 6.5/10 Actual review: REALLY good food! The pakora fritters were fried hard as pucks. The samosas were only half filled and overcooked. The three curries and tandoori chicken were all mostly flavorless unless you consider salt a flavor, and the chicken was very overcooked so the exterior was like a wallet with little nuggets of meat in the middle. Oddly, the naan was undercooked and was like eating semi raw dough with garlic butter. I actually ate more of this than my curry because at least I could taste some garlic. The mango lassi was very tasty but doesn't make up for the fact that I dropped $100 for playdo tasting food. I tried to complain to the waiter and manager but they were too busy to be bothered, they seemed mostly focused on getting takeout orders out the door rather than helping the tables of in person customers. A few months ago, we were in Sioux City, IA overnight. When we arrived at our hotel, we didn't feel like leaving to grab dinner, so we randomly picked Indian food and waited for the food delivery service. We were blown away. Insanely delicious food was not on that day's bingo card. Fast forward to last night in Sioux Falls, SD and we're looking for a dinner out before we check in to our hotel. I'm yelping around and see Indian and I have an "aha" moment thinking, could this be the same place? Who cares, it was so so delicious, it didn't matter. We started with vegetable samosa. They were good, but the cilantro sauce made them even better. I could bathe in their cilantro sauce -- a nice heat and super fresh tasting. We shared an Indian beer, chicken korma, butter chicken, and garlic naan. We ordered both entrees medium heat. I would have called it "mild". Next time, I might step up from medium on the butter chicken as I like mine with a little heat. Heat level aside, both entrees were perfect. Good sized portions for the price, and with enough sauce to give your naan a job to do. Service was prompt and not intrusive. Waters were refilled without having to ask, and plates both after our appetizer and after our entrees were cleared quickly. We noticed that this location does a very brisk takeout business. There were maybe twenty-plus dashers in and out during our visit at 3:30pm on a Sunday. I guess we aren't the only ones who love their super garlicky naan! read more

Visiting Sioux Falls, considering relocation here from the southern US. The food had really good flavor. I do wish the "hot" level was spicer though. I'm not satisfied with the spice level unless I'm visually uncomfortable, with sweat pouring down my face. Yeah, I'm weird. Ask my wife. Also, I do wish the food was served with Basmati rice instead of plain white, but it was still good. This review is based on one experience with a delivery order, as I was visiting /am not local. The entree, vegetable korma, was well-seasoned and spiced, the portion size was good/typical. I had ordered a dal soup which had very little dal in it and lacked flavor-it was mostly clear broth. If I had dined in, I would have requested a different bowl with more substance, as this cost over $6. The roti had no butter on it and the portion was small. It was pretty good. Our friends took us here. We always roll up with four adults and two infants. Indeed this is quickly became one of my favorite Indian food restaurant. I love the fact that it is family owned. The owners are nice. Maybe BC we roll up with two regulars lol and they both speak the language. Anyways, I've only been here twice. The first time we ordered regular plates. The second time we had all you can eat. I must say I enjoyed both times I went. I'm very picky with how different ethnic groups make rice. I just would not have imagined such a large, well kept, clean and aesthetically inviting Indian restaurant in SD. And boy, were they busy for a Wednesday. They must have been 15 tables seated with several take out orders as well. It could also be that they have half off beer and wine on Wed. Contrary to what one one would expect, service was still attentive. Food did take a little but longer to come out but that's ok, since the complimentary papadum helps with the hunger pangs. I got the Goan fish curry and nan. Food was AWESOME! Fish was tilapia and very fresh. Gravy was aromatic prepared with coconut milk. Being Indian and all, I do know my food and this place was legit. This was a really delicious joint. I'm sad that I'm never going to be back in Sioux Falls to have this deliciousness. We were stopping for the night during our trip from Indianapolis to Colorado. Shahi Palace seemed like the best option nearest our hotel and I'm so glad we stopped. Philip had a Madras Curry and it was so good. We didn't order it "hot" because we were traveling and didn't want to end up in a hotel or on a long drive with what can be described as "Indian ass." It was still good, despite missing the heat we love of Indian Food. I had the Chicken Krahi, which was something I'd never seen on an Indian menu before. It was really good, but not saucy like most dishes. There was nothing to dip my naan in, but I did borrow some of Philip's curry. Appetizer combo platter was really yummy. Samosa and Veggie Pakora were especially delish. If you find yourself in Sioux Falls, stop in and check out Shahi Palace. What an amazing place! It looked fancy when we went in but its fairly casual. We got sat fairly quickly. The server was very nice and asked for our drink order right away. However, then it took him quite some time to come back. The restaurant, besides a big table of about 12 that had already received their dishes, was empty. Nonetheless, he came back and we ordered a samosa - which was fantastic! and garlic Naan which was also good. Our entrees arrived shortly after. Good sized portions of Vegetable curry and a chicken dish for my friend (do not remember what she ate). It was well spiced and delicious. Due to the appetizer, we could not finish our main dishes and had left-overs for lunch the next day! Would have given it 5 stars if the service was slightly better. I will surely be back! read more

I was born and raised in Queens, NY and was blessed to grow up with a ton cultural diversity. I have a eaten a lot of Indian food. I wouldn't make the leap and say "this was the best I've had" ... but I was pleasantly surprised to find authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine in Sioux Falls! The decor of the restaurant isn't great (seems like a converted office or retail space), but it didnt spoil anything for us. Service was prompt, ticket times were good, food was excellent.
