I chose Dr. Salemy over other surgeons I met with in part because of his approach. He'll tell you--as a husband and father of girls--he believes all women are beautiful in their own ways. It was very clear when I met him for the first time that he's not in the business of making women's bodies match some arbitrary standard of perfection. While he was happy to share his opinion when asked, he never made it about him. It was about me, and what I was bothered by, and what I thought would help me feel more confident and empowered. After birthing three children and breast feeding continuously for almost a decade, my body was so tired looking! There are several options for implant type and size; Dr. Salemy explained the pros/cons of each as well as which he recommended for my body and why. I tend to be a bit of an over-preparer and was surprised I didn't overwhelm him with all of my questions! He answered everything I asked patiently and thoroughly. I went from not being able to fit into an A cup bra (basically mosquito bites) to now being measured at a 32D. This is exactly what I wanted, and I gotta say, my breasts are BEAUTIFUL. Dr. Salemy did wonderful work. He also really paid attention to my individual preferences, understanding not every woman wants the same thing. Yes it is major surgery and recovery is serious. However, I was fully prepared on exactly what to expect and how I'd recover. I had no complications resulting from my surgery, luckily, but was made aware of the potential risks. I had lost 70 pounds and kept the weight off for 8 years. I was exercising and was very healthy. However I had skin that would not go away on my stomach. Dr. Salemy is absolutely amazing! I was very thorough in my search for a plastic surgeon. I went to countless consultations with board-certified surgeons in Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland. Dr. Salemy immediately stood out among them, and I'm delighted I had a chance to get surgery from him. Dr. Salemy is exceptionally professional, thorough, and caring. During the initial consultation, Dr. Salemy and his excellent staff made me feel very comfortable asking the many questions I had, and they were very patient and detailed in their answers. I was given very clear instructions in preparation for the surgery. Dr. Salemy's nurse Bea was always incredibly fast and helpful with her replies to any of my additional questions. On the day of the surgery, I met Dr. Salemy's anesthesiologist Dr. Marshall who is just outstanding. She described every step she'll take during the surgery to ensure the recovery from anesthesia went smoothly. I was prepared to feel discomfort and pain during the recovery after the surgery, but it was not the case. Dr. Salemy and his team did such a fantastic job that I felt pretty much back to normal within 2-3 days. I was never in pain during my recovery; the only mild discomfort I ever felt was from the compression bra. I was also ready to see the infamous rectangular bricks of implants that reach up to the collarbone during the first week, but even on the next day after surgery, it was not the case for me. The implants immediately looked natural and round. Once again, thanks to Dr. Salemy's fantastic skills. I'm currently six weeks post-op, and I'm delighted with the results of Dr. Salemy's work. I'd struggled with self image issues for my whole life. I had finally lost a good amount of weight and decided to go in for surgery. My tummy tuck/gynecomastia surgery was June 16th and I was very nervous. Dr. Salemy and his team were so good to help alleviate any stresses I had, day of surgery. Surgery was completed and I recall being subtly disappointed the day after surgery. I was wearing my garments, swollen, and hadn't even given my body time to adjust. I went home Friday and Saturday came and I tried on some clothes I had bought that I couldn't fit into prior to surgery and they fit. I was so happy and excited. I could not have picked a better place to go to for my recent surgery. There is not a better doctor than Dr. Salemy..hands down. I did two consultations with different doctors before I went to Salemy and they were nothing like him. Dr. Salemy performed a breast reduction on me on 5/27/09 in VA. I had large, heavy breasts my whole life. Shopping, exercising, and neck/shoulder pain were constant issues. He said he'd remove about 300/350 (left/right) grams of tissue from each breast, bringing me from a 34 F to a full 34C. Sounded good to me, considering another surgeon wanted to remove almost 500. After surgery, my breasts weren't much smaller. I called him after he moved to WA to complain. He sounded offended & said he thought he did a good job. He said the swelling would go down in a few months. I waited 4 months. Not 1 call from him & no change in size. I left a nasty review on Yelp in late Sept 09. Suddenly, he was very concerned & good reviews of him started popping up on Yelp and Vitals.com. Note: there are NO web reviews of him prior to Oct 09. The 4 good reviews that popped that week on Yelp have been filtered. I expect more good reviews from new yelpers will appear shortly after I post this. Dr. M., who replaced Dr. Salemy, and I spoke on the phone. The 1st words out of his mouth were "wow, he didn't take much off." He removed 135 & 220 grams of tissue. Dr. M. showed me a breast implant approx that size & it was shockingly small. After a few meetings, he offered to do a breast lift & lipo (AND fix my larger left areola) for free IF I paid for anesthesia & removed the review. Dr. Salemy also offered to redo the surgery in Seattle (airfare & lodging weren't offered). These offers were good for 1 year. Most surgeons won't touch you for 9 months after surgery, so I only had a few months to act. Another surgery would mean paying $2000 for anesthesia, taking another 2 weeks off of work, and waiting months to fully recover. The thought of going through all that again made cringe. I was also scared to have surgery again because I've lost sensation in my left nipple. All the docs I spoke with agreed that the chances of killing my nipple(s) or losing sensation in my right side increase with a 2nd surgery. I decided to play nice & remove the review anyway. I saw a few other doctors for 2nd opinions. Dr. B, a surgeon who Dr. Salemy recommended, felt sorry for me and offered to do another full reduction for the price of a lift ($2000 discount). NO other surgeons offered a lift/lipo as a solution. I also talked to 5 friends who've had reductions. Their results were more dramatic, and they're much happier. They all lost at least 2 cup sizes. One friend went from an H to a C. Even my petite friend went from a D to a B. Other close friends/family agreed that my results were negligible. Some of their comments include: "Oh my god, they're still huge!"; "You had surgery?;" "Can't you get your money back?;" and "I think you should have surgery again." My BF even joked that he secretly paid Dr. Salemy to keep them big. As recently as 1 month ago, a coworker commented on their size. When my 1-year "warranties" were close to expiring in spring 2010, I found out that I had thyroid cancer. I'm fine, but the subsequent surgery/treatment cost several thousand dollars and consumed the rest of my sick leave. Heartbroken, I had to give up hope that I could afford another surgery. Dr. M. also left the practice shortly thereafter. So, not only am I out $X,XXX for the initial surgery, but now I have to come up with another $X,XXX if I want the breasts I originally asked for. It's been 2 years since surgery. EVERY BRA I purchase, regardless of brand, is only 1 size smaller (34DD). I'm still able to wear some of my pre-surgery bras, sports bras, and swimsuits! Finding a supportive swimsuit is almost impossible. I'm a runner, and any woman with large breasts knows what a pain (literally) it is. I want Dr. Salemy to run a half marathon (I just did) or go dancing at a club with big, heavy, natural DD breasts. Unfortunately, I didn't document my experience. Dr. S. took pics right before surgery, but he couldn't find them after I wrote my review, and they're not in my medical file. Every surgeon I've seen wants to see those pics, but I have to repeatedly explain that my doc lost them. If they should someday reappear, I'm sure they'd only help my case. I've attached some clothed before/after pictures. I have PLENTY more. I also have my medical file and the email from Dr. Salemy requesting that I remove the review. I know plastic surgery is subjective in nature. He can say that he did a good job & that I'm crazy. However, my friends, family, other patients, and other surgeons disagree. Bottom line: I asked Dr. Salemy to significantly reduce my breast size in order to bring my 5'5" body into proportion AND to reduce my discomfort. Didn't happen. I ended up w/breasts that are almost the same size (not much perkier), followed by his offer to have me pay MORE $$ to have another painful surgery to fix them. I think this review is more than fair. I guess I am exposing to the Yelp world that I had a breast augmentation procedure because I have seen and heard about too many horrible boob jobs out there that I feel the need to write a detailed review to share and thank how awesome my surgeon is! I had my breast augmentation with Dr. Salemy in November 2014 and it was probably one of the best thing I have invested in for myself. Yes, before you make such a decision this big(and pricey), that you are doing it for you and only your happiness. Dr. Salemy and each and every one of his staff had been so wonderful to me during my whole experience from the receptionist to the finance adviser to the anesthesiologist. I visited other offices when I was shopping around for the right surgeon, but no where felt as warm as here so I don't care to go the extra mile and pay for parking in Seattle each time I have a check up appointment because I wasn't treated like a young naive girl here for wanting to go somewhat significantly bigger. My words were "I wanted my boobs to be noticeable, but not the first thing to be noticed and questioned about". Dr. Salemy gave me his expert advice and we both agreed on a size which after the surgery, I have come to think is just so perfect and modest. It is definitely bigger, looks nice in a bikini, but if I have a shirt or normal clothes on, nobody would have known I had surgery done to it...not that I am hiding the fact or would deny it because it is quite natural looking. The whole experience didn't felt at all like what movies and scarey surgery or hospital shows exaggerate a boob job consist of and you shouldn't let that fear stop you. You are literally put to sleep and you wake up with boobs. Everything goes by so quickly that you don't feel the procedure being done. On my surgery day, I didn't felt like I was getting surgery because everybody was just so uplifting and friendly at 6am when I checked in. It felt more like I was about to go on a game show such as Wheel of Fortune than being cut open to insert 2 bags of silicons. HAHAHA. All the staff and Dr. Salemy himself was very patient and informative so I want to share some basic knowledge to help others that are curious about getting breast augmentation. -Sizing: There are no "accurate" cup size so go for the look you want, not cup size. There are forums out there on the internet to help you get a visual because you can search for girls with similar if not exact weight/height with different sizes that they used. -Saline vs. Silicon: These are the material that will be used for your bag of boob goodness. It is either going to be filled with Saline (salt water) or silicon. There's pro and cons to both so it just depends on your preference, but there is a minimum age of 22 to get silicon. -Pricing: Different areas will charge different prices. Even with the same doctor, it may be different pricing depending on the situation, but apparently you can finance boobs with Care Credit? My procedure was 8 grand, just for your curiosity because that was my number 1 question to getting them, but don't hold me accountable to your personal quote. Oh yeah, breast augmentation don't last forever. Eventually, you will need to get them replaced so make sure it is something you are willing go with through with maintenance! Breast augmentation may or may not be for everybody, so please please do your research. And with that research, make sure you research for an incredible surgeon like Dr. Salemy. It was life changing to me and I couldn't be happier with the results, but I am not convincing that every girl should get them. For those that do decide to go through with breast augmentation, there is no one I would recommend besides Dr. Salemy. He is the worst most non-caring doctor I have ever met. I do not trust him, he overcharges then does not help when problems occur you would think when you pay a premium you would get a better doctor and better service. Not here, he is very inexperienced so when I had a complication he had no experience on how to handle it. He didn't want to come back and tried to talk me out of comeing back in, used the excuse my blood pressure was too high.....What? He and his staff are sloppy, they sent me home unstable with "very hi-blood pressure and a drain that did not look right". Dr. Salamy would not even take the time to come back in and have a look, it was 4:45, his nurse asked him repeatedly, he wanted to go home. They came back to do EMERGENCY SURGERY on me a few hours later, I was bleeding fast and hard from 4 open arteries. My neck had a softball of blood hanging off the front of it, my wind pipe was being cut off from the bandage and he's telling me not to come in, wont leave his cell number and does not recommend a nurse stay with you after surgery....... what sort of doctor does this? His lack of caring and professionalism paired with his apparent desire to BLAME THE CLIENT AND TO HIDE IS TERRIBLE. On top of this I barely look any different, I had a face lift, chin and brow. My neck is attached to the front of my chin and I have a terrible profile, he only opened back up one side, I guess to lazy to do both so I have healed uneven and still lots of skin on my neck and on my brow. My experience with Dr. S and his staff was nothing short of incredible. Everything from the initial consultation to the end result. He is genuinely kind, lets you ask a ton of questions, he remembered my husband and my 3 month old's name :) I really appreciate how direct Dr. Salemy was at the consult and how he told me what to expect, what not to expect and why. He set realistic goals and gave me his honest opinion because getting implants is such a big investment and you want to make sure you choose the right size/shape. This is the second review I have written for Dr. Salemy, the first was after my tummy tuck and liposuction last July. On my post-op visit he and I discussed the fact that I had breast implants done over twenty years ago and I had heard that implants that old should be removed or replaced. He suggested I first have a mammogram (which I did) and then come back to talk some more. After some research and careful consideration I scheduled surgery with Dr. Salemy to remove and replace my old silicone implants. I'm VERY glad I did, even though they looked fine, they were both ruptured and clearly needed to be removed. Turns out a high percentage of implants which are removed after 20 years are ruptured. Dr. Salemy did a fantastic job and assured me all the silicone was removed and my new implants are safer and will last as long as I do....and best of all they look absolutely fantastic! I couldn't be happier with the results. Both his office and the surgical center couldn't have been more professional or caring. I had Dr. Salemy fix a bump on my nose that had bothered me all my life. He told me there would be swelling that could last quite awhile. 7 days after surgery he took the splint off my nose and I was so shocked at how wonderful my nose looked that I couldn't believe it was really MY nose! I have 3 kiddos and a full time job. The fatigue was definitely starting to show on my face in the form of fine lines and sometimes a "cranky" look from constant eye brow furrowing. While I know bruising is a common side effect with botox, I never received any bruising with Dr. Salemy. I agree with MIss E that the service is EXTREMLY AWFUL. I got my breast implant on August and the incision bleeded after the surgery for almost A MONTH. I tried to contact with them but i just got a terrible suggest and answer from 3 different nurses each time i called. They dont even reply your email until you call the reception and tell them to pay attention to their inbox. I'm also out of town patient but i used to live in Seattle however, they still charge me the fee for metting them after the surgery even though i could not attend. I had a surgery with Dr Salemy 3yrs ago and the initial result was ok, not too satisfied; however now I realized my left breast is in painful, harder and higher than right one. Went back to check up with dr salemy yesterday and I was disappointed the way him and his staff treated me. He told me it's capsular contracture and recommended to do another surgery to remove it and the cost is around 6k for one breast. When u have issue like this , he doesn't take care of u! But make u pay to cut u up again! can't believe these people just want u to go through surgery so they can get paid regardless what u going through. I thought the implant would be covered since it's under warranty but they said it's limited warranty and won't cover for anything . It's A Biggest mistake to have my surgery with him! I had my breast augmentation performed by Dr. Salemy, MD, FACS on 10/12/2011 and I am really happy with my results. Prior to choosing Dr. Salemy, I did a ton of research on the internet and had consultations with two other surgeons in the Seattle area. The upside with both surgeons: *The consultations were free *Cost of surgery came in around 5-6K (gel round implants placed under the muscle) The downside: *The before/after pictures (what they envisioned I could/should look like post surgery) were not in line with my expectations *Facilities were not as inviting/professional in appearance *High pressure from front desk staff calling almost daily to schedule a surgery date and arrange payment My expectations: Proportionate to my frame (I am 5ft 3", 100 pounds) and not wider than my frame to avoid the looking chubby for my frame, still able to maintain a professional appearance, still able to wear the same dress size as opposed to being in between sizes, good cleavage-not much space between and a natural shape- natural slope (as opposed to looking like two round balls sitting on my chest). As my gel implants were placed with an incision under the breast and under the muscle, I do not have any rippling on the sides, I now have cleavage, my breasts feel very natural and soft (they felt hard the first 3 weeks), the incisions are healing very nicely (no keloid). Although the incisions are still dark, I have been applying "scar fade" to the incisions twice daily and this has been helping. I started off at 32B (however, I was not a full 32B-I did not fill the cup size so I was most likely improperly sized) and I asked to look like a full C cup. I look like I have a full C-cup now, exactly what I asked to look like, however, I'm now in a size 30 DDD or 30 F. I think it's very important to know what you want to look like prior to going in for your consultation. At my consultation, I laid out my expectations and based on that, I asked the Dr. to choose the sizes he felt would achieve what I was looking for. He brought out 3 sizes that he was comfortable implanting in me. He said he would implant the largest of the three (I'm guessing it was 350 cc) but advised I may be crossing over into the slightly "chubby" looking category that I wanted to avoid, but would implant that size if I wanted. So I choose the one in the middle. I went 304cc in the left and right breast. The first consultation is $100 and if you retain his services, that fee will go towards the cost of the procedure. The total cost of my consultation, surgery, anesthesia came to roughly $6900. Also, I just have to mention again that all follow up visits were free of charge. In my opinion, my surgery was worth every penny. At the time of my surgery, the practice offered a 12 month interest free financing plan through a company called Care Credit.
