MOLD AND SPOILED FOOD ALERT. I picked up a falafel lunch today with a few sides of tahini sauce. The sauces were individually packaged. When I open them every single one had MOLD growing on it and smelled rotten. I immediately called the place, a girl who works there apologized and said the owner doesn't come in until after 5 and asked to call again (HUH?!). I left my phone number, it's 9:30pm, noone bothered to call me back. This is probably the worst review a business could get. Mold on the food and not even bother addressing it. If you want spicy this is the place for you. If you want a big portion this is the place for you. If you like clean and quiet this is the place for you. Friendly service too and for my $9, a soda and lamb with rice and salad was a great lunch. Only issue for me is that the place doesn't hold heat well so when the door opens the place freezes, so my next time will likely be take out until the spring. read more

I love this place . The food is always good. I had to give 3 stars based off of my last visit . This breaks my heart to leave this review .... While waiting to place my order I noticed that the server wore the same dirty gloves to handle money & to prepare pita bread. Preparing the pita bread consisted of him removing it from the bag with his hand to place it on the grill and then he removed it from the grill & folded it with his hand. When it was my turn to order a gyro I explained to him very politely what I had witnessed. He was very receptive but also said that they don't have enough gloves, sometimes it's too busy to change their gloves & for the most part the customers always uses credit cards. He seemed to be a very nice young man, he also changed his gloves to prepare my food. I just think that there has to be a better way, maybe use of a tong to prepare the pita & roll using wax paper sheets or Saran Wrap . I really love this place!! I reviewed the Wantagh location already but same thing...this place to rocks. I will be going here more often. The food is tasty, you get a nice portion of food for the money and the guys working are super friendly. Excellent little spot. If you haven't been, go and get the comb platter, with white sauce. The taste is outrageous and it leaves you full. Nice spice and the food is fresh. It's also very clean, which is super important to me. AAA! Well done. read more

This halal food is so good, I got the lamb and chicken combo over rice with sweet peppers and black beans. Don't sleep on the back beans! I was a bit skeptical at first because my halal food usually only has two options.... over rice or a gyro. But shahs has opened be eyes to a whole new world. Yumm! read more

The food here is fresh and delicious! I ordered a lamb over rice platter with cucumber tomato salad, hummus, and white and red sauce. Every bite of lamb was perfectly seasoned. I love this food, it's very fresh. The kofta kebab is good and spicy, the only problem is it is always frozen so it takes a while and some of the younger servers don't have the patience to cook it till it's hot all the way through. (They do when the owner is there.) As with most of these places, sometimes you get more rice than veggies, sometimes you get more veggies than rice, it depends on who is serving you. It's always 2 meals for me so it's a bargain. One thing, though: the owner said to me, "try our white sauce, people are absolutely addicted to it!" Well I looked at the label, it has high fructose corn syrup as the third or fourth ingredient, of course it's addictive! That's what it does best. Beware of that. read more

Office ordered in from here last week. Everybody was very happy with their orders. I wish I took a picture to post. I ordered the lamb and rice combo plate with salad and all the extras, like chick peas, white/red sauce. The plate was served in the traditional tin, and jam packed to the top with food, I mean it must have weighed two pounds. Everything was so fresh and delicious. When my friends or family come out of town I always take them to Shah's. They all love it! Shahs Halal provides large amounts of delicious food for exceptional prices! There is easy accessible seating even if you have kids or babies, which we often do! They have parking right in front so eating in or taking out is a breeze. Update: Spoke with the manager Bobby. He is very kind and you can tell he cares about the business. The food was great but sometimes employees can make the difference. Hopefully the issues within can get resolved. But other than that, you should try it out! My coworkers and I ordered for a pick up for lunch. Completely messed up our order and over charged us. There was also bones in the chicken!! We called to resolve the issue and the cashier "Claudia" was so rude and nasty and didn't want to be bothered. Lucky the manager called us back and assured us we can come and get reimbursed and was pleasant. When we went after work we told the current workers how poor she acted. They apologized for her the behavior and helped us out Terrible experience we will not be ordering from here again. read more

Really enjoyed this food! We were huge fans of nimbu and were sad it closed but this place is great, too! For 7 bucks you get a huge plate of fresh delicious food. The green sauce was really tasty and the salad that came in the platter was fresh and crunchy and worked perfectly with the meat. Can't wait to go back! read more
