    Lamb over rice.. nice..
    Glenn V.

The Shah cart is actually more than one cart that mysteriously appears in many places that I happen to go. Now I realize l its not merely a coincide, theres more than one. The straightest & quickest exchange of Q &A about sauces Yea's or Nay's, and BANG -- my meal was ready.... like really, really that fast.. Sitting across the Blvd from Shahs cart, theres a wonderful sitting area (sorry, no pix) that sits upon the Van Wykes northbound lane. It must be a bridge of the suspension class, my rear was shaking when a big rig ran underneath. Trust me, ya feel it.. Perfectly sized 3/4 inch cuts of lamb off the rotating thingie, served plentifully over a fluffy and consistent rice, lettuce and tomato -- topped with your choice of five sauces! After a quick mix pattern of reverse figure '8's', I was forking in and experienced sweet and sour contrasting with spicy and creamy flavors all giving the lamb such an extra level of flavors..

Shah's serves some of the best inexpensive Halal food. I ordered the lamb and chicken combo over rice with no salad. I asked for bbq and white sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I shared it with my boyfriend and he enjoyed it as well.

Shah's Halal cart is in my 'hood, and right outside of the E/F train station making it an extremely choice. My husband had never had "Halal" from a truck. Ever since I introduced him, he can't get enough. We find ourselves craving this plate every so often. For $6 you get a huge portion and a drink. My husband and I could probably share, but it's so good that we each get our own and stuff our faces. My order: Chicken & Lamb Combo over rice with cut up pita on top. White sauce and BBQ sauce. Husband's Order: Chicken over rice with cut up pita. White sauce, green sauce, hot sauce. Not only is the price right, but the food is delicious. I'm a NY born and raised, so I'm not stranger to the Halal trucks. Service is always quick and kind. I'm so happy that this is a daily option.

I have enjoyed the Lamb Over Rice and chicken over rice. Highly recommend this place for good food .

Shah's is fast, cheap and good. 5.99 for a combo and a drink. I've tried 2 other halal carts and i really liked shah's the best. They keep it simple with rice, meat and salad, none of those add-ons like onion and pepper which other places tend to overcook and gets watery for some reason. Their white and hot sauces are sooo good! but beware the hot sauce is really really spicy! Getting too much will cause you to lose your appetite. Try shah's, their food hasn't poisoned me yet, so you've got nothing to lose!

Particular well assembled and plumply stuffed gyros wrapped in fluffy and delicious pitas. With the platters they practice the steadily increasing trend I've noticed of chopping the pita up into smaller pieces before topping the platter with them, which serves the process of offering some fun new textural contrasts to the mix, though they stop short of the ingenious double layering and saucing technique of my current halal GOAT Farooks of Irving Place in Manhattan (see previous review). Prices, perhaps unsparingly due to it's location in the solidly middle to working class slice of the Worlds borough, prices are a bit lower than the current city-wide average, resulting in a steady stream of loyal school age clientele. Unfortunately though surely no fault of the carts, there's a dearth of seating immediately near the cart, the closest nearest option being some outdoor seating at the McDonalds which is often occupied and/or policed by McDonalds staff warning off outside food interlopers. Luckily for me I'm always on my bike so I can grab my grub to go and quickly bike to the nearest park to wolf it down as quickly as possible..

I got the egg and tomato handmade noodle dish that comes as a dry noodle. Scrambled eggs and tomatoes are a classic flavor, but I've never had it with noodles before. The dish was topped with some sesame sauce and fresh cucumber. Overall, it was pretty good, although I was expecting more of a sauce of tomatoes and egg poured over the noodles. Instead, it was just tomatoes and egg sauteed with noodles, with the only liquid being what came out of the tomatoes during cooking. I guess that's why they add on the sesame sauce. The noodles were really well-made. They were nicely al dente and pretty uniform in size even though they're pulled by hand. The tomato flavor wasn't strong enough, but the acidity of the tomato was there and was nicely balanced by the nutty taste of the sesame sauce. The cucumbers provided a refreshing crunch. The dish was missing a bit of spice. I also got a side of chili oil sliced pig ears. They normally sell a dish for $7, but I didn't want a full side of it and asked if they could just give me a smaller portion for cheaper. So the guy at the register asked for $3 and gave me a really generous portion of pig ears. I wasn't expecting it to be a chili oil made with Sichuan peppercorns, but it was and I loved the tingly spiciness it gave the dish. I actually spooned a little bit of the hot chili oil into the noodles to give them a bit more flavor. And since the noodles had no meat in them, I added a slice of pig ear every few bites. I enjoyed my meal even though it wasn't perfect. I'll definitely return to try their lamb noodle soup and see how it compares to the famous one (inside Golden Mall or New World Mall).

Others: - Pastel de Nata from Joey Bats Café: $4 per egg tart. Good, though it doesn't beat the ones found in Lisbon, Portugal. - Beef Pepperpot from Lexie's Caribbean Cuisine: OK. $6 buys a rather large serving for the price. The dish is flavorful, but the cuts of meat used run a bit tough. - Beef Meat Pie from Soronko Kitchen and Bakery: $6. OK. Could use more flavor than the included Cholula hot sauce packet provided. - Beef Gyro from Enfes NYC: $6. Good, balanced. On the other hand, we didn't like their grape leaves ($5), which we thought were too tart. The logistics of the Night Market have changed slightly since my initial review in 2019. It is still better to take mass transit, as there is no longer free parking in the adjacent parking lot operated by the New York Hall of Science. Porta potties available with handwashing stations. Some entertainment too. One weekend there was a circus then a DJ (got shut down early though bec of severe weather forecast). They have a wide range of Jian Bing options. Quicitop, a stall inside the same mini food court as Corner 28 with its English name in an almost illegibly small font under its gigantic Chinese name, offers that and more. Along with that, I ordered one of the Chinese style "Beef Patties" to go. (I'm not sure if there's seating in back, however I was taking it with to eat at Citified before the Mets Game.) The woman preparing my Jian Bing behind the counter was totally friendly and quick. This Peking Duck Jian Bing, a sizeable Chinese filled crepe with egg, lettuce and other vegetables, black sesame, was customized with Peking Duck and what appeared to be Hoi Sin Sauce. Additionally she folded within the crepe, as I've had elsewhere a large fried wonton sheet. While I saw some duck as I ate, the fried wonton in particular disproportionately distracted from any enjoyable Peking Duck flavor. If I ordered it again, I'd ask to leave out the wonton. Also, would recommend others do the same. The Beef Patties, in its crispy, flaky, filo dough type bun, was quite tasty, reasonably priced, and something I'd consider reordering.
