Another excellent halal cart and the best I've sampled in deep Queens. Exceptionally high quality and well spiced lamb. Particular well assembled and plumply stuffed gyros wrapped in fluffy and delicious pitas. With the platters they practice the steadily increasing trend I've noticed of chopping the pita up into smaller pieces before topping the platter with them, which serves the process of offering some fun new textural contrasts to the mix, though they stop short of the ingenious double layering and saucing technique of my current halal GOAT Farooks of Irving Place in Manhattan (see previous review). Prices, perhaps unsparingly due to it's location in the solidly middle to working class slice of the Worlds borough, prices are a bit lower than the current city-wide average, resulting in a steady stream of loyal school age clientele. Unfortunately though surely no fault of the carts, there's a dearth of seating immediately near the cart, the closest nearest option being some outdoor seating at the McDonalds which is often occupied and/or policed by McDonalds staff warning off outside food interlopers. Got a decent amount of food for $9 which also comes with a free can of soda. Owner is also pleasant. Located on the corner of kissena blvd and 75th ave. Opened till 10pm on weekends and 11pm on weekdays. Their portions are very generous and well worth the 7 dollars a platter. The combo of lamb and chicken over rice is the same price. Their platter come with a free drink too. They take orders over the phone and you can drive up to their cart to pick your order up too. I personally love their halal because their rice is mixed with loads of onions. They give a lot of meat and includes a pita bread as well. read more

This Halal food got to be the worst $7 for Lamb over rice. Not only the food was stale, but it also tasted funny. I call in and order my foods, after 10 minutes or so the guy gave me an attitude asking if I'm still coming. Terrible business method if you ask me. When arriving here, he keeps constantly looking at me. Do me a favor if you going charge people $7 for mediocre foods you shouldn't be in business at all. First off, I want to commend how they do business. I will 1000% be coming back. I went tonight around 9pm and i double parked and went to the front of the cart and ordered my food. when i opened my wallet, I realized that I only had $10.. I thought i had $20 :( I wanted to order 2 chicken and rice's but I didn't have enough so I ordered 1 chicken and rice and 1 chicken wrap ($1.99). The owner told me to go sit back in my car and he would bring the food to me. about 30 seconds later, i realized, there was a chase across the street ! so i told him ill be back in a couple of min and i would run to the bank to get some more money. He told me, its ok! just pay me next time. mind you, he doesn't know who I am. I don't like to owe people money esp halal food cart. i went across the street, got my money and came back to him. When I pulled up, he immediately said, i will bring it to you. sit in the car but h e had a line of people and people in cars ordering and i didn't want to inconvenience him. Very busy for a 9pm on a monday night ! :) Its not easy to find great service esp for a food cart but even though this place is a little bit of a drive for me, I'd rather drive further to have amazing food that is worth the price. $7- fresh looking salad + tomatoes, lots of chicken and rice + gyro bread without me even needing to ask!!! + drink of choice. I have been coming here for years. The owner is one of the most dedicated, hardest workers I have ever seen. They are open everyday and open late. You can call ahead for your order or just pull up in your car and order. I always get out to order because I enjoy his conversation as much as the food. I usually get the combo over rice. It's always fresh and delicious. I have had the falafel and shawarma here as well as just as exceptionally delicious. It's definitely one of the best halal carts in Queens and in a great location. What makes everything good just so I could round it up is that they show love!! That being said is a domimo affect of just making the food so amazingly delicious. So good! I just came here yesturday and the food was great. At first I was a little turned off because the price for chicken over rice was $6.99. Which is $1 more than most halal trucks in that area. It was worth the extra $1 though. The rice was nice and shelly. The chicken was well seasoned. The salad was fresh with tomatoes. And the pita bread is free, which was nicely cut up. Father and Son Halal has to be one of the better halal trucks in NYC. The dishes are full with flavor and rich spices with huge influence from Pakistani/Afghani cuisine. I'm surprised there aren't more people who eat at the cart. Typical items include gyros and platters, but Father and Son tries to differentiate itself from the other carts by expanding it's menu to include salads and even Tilapia platters and salads. I'm still a bit too apprehensive towards trying the Tilapia though. Stick with the classics (lamb and chicken platters); or try the Chapli Rice Platter. Chapli is a barbequed chicken patty with rich eastern spices and flavor. Get a Chapli platter with white sauce, green sauce, some free pita and brown rice and you're set. This truck has a special green sauce made of cilantro that adds even more depth and is a great addition to any platter or gyro. Personally I think the gyros are too small but the platters are great. Father and Son is one of my favorite haunts. In fact this cart was the first time I had tried Halal food. The typical platters include brown basmati rice, a salad including lettuce, tomatoes, and purple cabbage (most halal food carts only have the lettuce). For me the salad plays an important part in cooling off my mouth when tasting that burning hot sauce. I admit the first time I ate halal food I could never finish it because I couldn't stand the hot sauce with either chicken, lamb or tilapia, which is one of my usual platters that I order. The tilapia is another unique staple if this halal food cart. I noticed that a few halal food carts on Main street once served fish, but it seems that it simply fell out of fashion; most likely because fish from a street cart sounds rather dubious. You can call ahead and double park right in front of Walgreens while you pick it up. Totally worth supporting this delicious cart. As far as Halal carts go this is the best in the neighborhood and far better than the average cart. The portions are generous and the food is fresh. They give some pita with your plates without asking which is always a plus for me. Went by yesterday for my usual lamb/chicken combo over rice, except this time I asked for pita bread. Its free so make sure you ask for whole pita on the side or if you like, he will cut it up into your platter. Just remember the pita will soak up your white sauce so ask for extra. Usually the owner is there or otherwise he has nephews or someone else. Someone drove up like a drive thru while I waited. Can't go wrong with that lol read more

As a halal food truck fanatic I've tried many places in the NYC area including king of falafel in Astoria and Halal guys in Manhattan and I would say this place is pretty much up there with the famous ones. The guy who works there also will take your order over the phone so that will save you some time. Not only is his food good quality the quantity is good also. He also has a special green sauce which tastes good with the kebab and lamb it's a good sauce for people who cannot handle too much spicy red sauce. You can't go wrong with the lamb n rice platter for 7 bucks which also includes a soda. The father is a great guy he always hooks it up with plenty of extra sauce. He's not stingy at all like some other halal trucks with there sauce. The father treats his customers like we are all his own sons. Thank god this halal cart is close by to my house. read more

The Father and Son halal food is by far the most flavorful halal cart food i have eaten - anywhere in the city of New York! Yes, I have tried the Guys on 6th ave. Their food is bland compare to these guys. I usually get the Chapli platter for my dinner while on break. It consists of two patties of grilled ground chicken mixed with whole coriander and few other spices and authentic Afghan style brown rice that's mixed with whole cumins (for the aroma).
