What a fantastic find right outside HMart. The owner is an absolute treasure, So nice and kind. Whe we stopped by. He noticed that my daughter's were hungry, and instead of waiting for all our skewers to be done, he handed then each a skewer to munch on as we waitednfor the rest ro be done. They're open nice and late (I've been there at 10 p.m.), which is a huge plus, and they even have a couple of small tables with chairs if you want to eat right there. As for the food, I've tried the lamb, chicken, and squid skewers. The lamb and chicken were both succulent, perfectly cooked, and really well-balanced in flavor. The squid was tasty too, though the seasoning comes through more strongly since squid itself is milder. For the amount of protein you get, the prices are very reasonable, even cheap. Had attempted to come here night before around 1245A but they had already left. Apparently according to random people i asked, they had saw the cart maybe an hour earlier. Had also tried to come here around 5pm another day and they weren't here yet (saw them maybe an hour later) The cart is located on the Northeast corner of Prince St and 39th Ave, across from 39 King's Cafe and diagnonally across from Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, in the corner of a parking area. Fat Ni's pricing is probably the "most expensive" of the carts we came across, at an average of $2/skewer. 2 people worked the cart. 1 took orders while 1 cooked which made it more "streamlined" than other carts. Had wished to come back here to try other items but they are pretty elusive with their hours so I wasn't able to try them again. Overall though, they are decent. Flavors/seasoning are between carts are fairly similar anyway. I had tried 5x lamb, 2 chicken gizzard, 1 chicken heart, 2 pork intestine. All were pretty good. First time having grilled pork intestine like this. Decent. Unsure if i'd get it again. Maybe if i'm craving pork intestine. Nothing wrong with it but i rather have it deep fried or stir fried hehe. Decided to give this outdoor cart a try while walking back to the Hyatt hotel down the street and smelling the smoky deliciousness. We got chicken hearts, beef, and pork intestine. I only tried the chicken hearts and beef but they were amazing. The chicken hearts had a good chew and the beef was tender, a little fatty, and super flavorful. The owners also asked if we wanted our skewers spicy and they delivered on spice. Almost all options are $2, which is an awesome deal. However, the vegetable skewers lacked seasoning and could have used more salt. I dont recommend the pork intestine skewer as it had a strong smell that made it unpleasant to eat. If you enjoy cumin, you'll likrly enjoy these BBQ skewers. The prices are reasonable, likely around $2 each, and there's a parking lot conveniently located right behind the cart. Since I was eating around the area late at night in Queens China town, I might as well have a snack after dinner. So I ordered the nasty bits along with a few protein such as lamb, and etc. Below is a list of what I tried. . Pork intestine . Stinky tofu- yes it stunk. It stunk in a good way. It wasn't the best stinky tofu I had but it was good for a food cart. . Lamb kidney - omg this is the best. I can still remember the first bite, it was literally melting good. . Chicken gizzard - chewy and can never go wrong with chicken gizzard. . Chicken heart - chicken heart is another of mines fav bbq item. The bite size is always perfect and juicy. . Lamb - this was a solid meat. It was tasty and popular with a few people ahead of me all ordered this. . Overall I love the concept. I love how it fits the busy street location of China town and the clientele. Asians love eating this kind of street food and definitely reminds me of hong kong eats. What fun. We have tried to find them before, unsuccessfully, but we scored last night.we arrived around 8pm to a crowd, some chowing down on skewers, some waiting. It took almost 10 minutes for us to order as they had to put out a grill full of orders and then rake the coals and rebuild the fire which took both guys there. But finally we ordered a round of 5 skewers: 2xlamb, eggplant, chinese chives and gizzards for $10. They were so good that any idea of restraint went. There are benches and a tree so you can sit and eat if there is room. We chatted with a couple as we waited. The skewers were very well spiced with cumin, chili flakes and salt. Round 2 followed with 6 skewers for $15: 2 x wings, cauliflower, mystery organ, enoki, and lamb innards. The cauliflower was nothing special, but the rest were scrumptious. I like the lamb innards. It was listed as kidney, but there were chunks of kidney, liver and small cubes of fat. It was funky, juicy and delicious We grabbed a sour plum juice from the stand next door. When they take the skewers off the fire, the tips get burnt and they cut it off with a scissors. So our meal was syncopated by a steady stream of snip snip sounds. What fun read more

I came here on recommendation of the staff from Apollo Bakery as I wanted to find a good Chinese BBQ stand. They said that this place is their go to for good skewers and I can see why! I got their Beef, Chicken, and Chive skewers (nothing like a well-balanced ish meal right?). I thoroughly enjoyed all the skewers I got. For the Beef and Chicken ones, the meat was tender and juicy from the fat and the seasonings they put on the skewers were in great proportions. Super flavorful and can really taste the cumin, one of my all time favorite Chinese seasonings! Thanks for Flushing Food (http://www.yelp.com/biz/flushing-food-inc-flushing), we now have a name for this super popular 燒烤肉 BBQ spot: Fat Ni. Here's the good news: They have some very tasty skewers with some of the best variety Flushing has to offer. Aside from the regular selections like chicken and chicken, they also have gizzards, quail, shrimp, squid, and even chicken head. For our veggie only friends, they also rock eggplant, potato, broccoli, green pepper, corn, and tofu. They even have stinky tofu for those suffering from Taiwanese nostalgia. Too bad it's not really stinky. Here's the bad news: They frequently run out of meats. While I'm happy to rock a lamb kebab anytime, I also know that the less popular items like fishball and sausage are likely to go. Gizzards and duck neck (tasty!) are almost never available. When the Chinese kebab climate was $1 each, Fat Ni was one of the firsts to embrace the $1.25 price tag and now $1.50-$2.00 per skewer. Food costs aside, they still do a good job with what they have. I won't put them above the Xinjiang variety, but they have been clutch late at night when most other carts have packed up and gone home. This is my favorite Chinese skewer cart! They season their skewers so well, especially their spicy seasoning. Their skewers taste very authentic and have the great cumin taste to them. The meats are also very juicy! They also offer other unique items such as squid and stinky tofu which they heat up using a teppanyaki griddle. The stinky tofu tastes best with the spicy seasoning which helps to balance out some of the stinky-ness. I highly recommend trying them out! Make sure you stop by TD bank to get some cash. I always order Chicken Hearts, Squid and Quail skewers and ask for it spicy. The spices they put on the skewers are just perfect. It's kinda on a par with Kebab with the kick of cumin. Prices are pretty reasonable. Never got disappointed with this joint so far. The lamb pieces here for some reason seemed less meaty. The squid skewer was also extremely spicy, more so than the lamb skewers. The lamb tendon was quite delicious although didn't like the crispy tendon, doesn't really take up the flavors well and hard to chew. This is it. The best barbecue skewers from a cart in Flushing. When I first visited Flushing years ago, I remember having amazing lamb cumin skewers. On repeat visits, I never could recreate the magic of the skewer I had that first time. While Fat Ni is not the same cart I went to that first time, having Fat Ni's skewers brought me back to that first Flushing experience. I went with the same skewers I always get to try a new cart: lamb and chicken heart (both with spicy cumin). The two guys manning the grill were pros. They had just opened, so they were still getting a lot of their meat ready, but they were also cooking for those of us who caught them early and ordered. The skewers were fantastic. They were $1.50 each, which is essentially standard in Flushing. The lamb one had generous pieces of lamb that was trimmed well (no gristle), cooked perfectly tender, and had a really nice smokiness to balance the spice of the cumin. Definitely the best lamb skewer I've had in a long time. I also got the chicken heart, which far exceeded expectations. They had cut the heart in such a way that it flattened into a large oval. They were chewy in all the right ways and seasoned perfectly. These guys are not on Roosevelt or on Main St, so they need to be great to bring customers off the major streets. Capping off a four visit series (my middle update was two different visits) to Fat Ni with: biscuit, lamb tendon, and chicken hearts. At first you'll, see the chicken hearts are grilled flat, and are concerned about them being dried out. But after your first bite, you are reassured that the grill experts did not get it wrong. Lamb tendon - this is going to be a person preference thing - do you like fatty chewy items? Then order the lamb (and maybe the beef) tendon. We went with just one tendon skewer today. The biscuit - not quite mantou, maybe closer to shau bing (flat and circular). Seasoned like the rest of the grill items, and for me, best consumed with other grilled items (whether meat, seafood, or veggie). Ok, I have to confess... I am pretty biased when it comes to street food. I mean, the kind you REALLY stand at a street food stall/cart/whatever, in cold weather, patiently waiting while the food is being grilled/cooked in front of you. Went downstairs 15 min later (we were staying at the Hyatt across from Fat Ni's) walked downstairs, paid, brought the 20 or so skewers back to our room and had a "gameshow-TV-watching-while-eating-meat-on-a-stick-party". On the other corner of 39th Ave and Main Street, the Kebab and Hotdog cart owned by Nick, charges $2.25 for a beef skewer. And similar carts in Manhattan go as high as $5 per skewer, which is ridiculous! After class yesterday, I saw the guy and his partner setting up and were already cooking on their grill. So I asked them what time they were working till. They said, " from 4pm to 4am." Pretty cool. Ingredients vary as well. Whatever you can think of that you can skewer and bbq, they probably have..lol Squid, Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Chicken gizzard, Chicken heart, tofu, scallions, other vegetables, as well as, quails..
