I had passed by this location a few times in town, but stopped in one evening with a cousin who was visiting from out of town. I thought the chicken was really, really good - perfectly crispy with good spice embedded into it, and the chicken itself was really juicy. The honey they offer on the side is a good add-on, though I could probably do without the bread. It's pretty clean inside, and it's a quick-service setting - order at the counter, get a buzzer, go get it when it buzzes. It's usually been fairly busy the times I've been (I went back a few times with a gift card!), and I've enjoyed eating there each time. read more

Driving home on 18. I needed to stop for lunch and have passed by Dave's Hot Chicken a few times. Always thinking I wanted to stop in and try it. Driving past again. I decided to pull in and give it a try and I'm glad I did. The place is pretty big inside and there is a lot of seating. There were three high School or maybe college kids in front of me who ordered relatively quickly and then I was up. Unsure what to get. I asked the guy who was taking the orders and he made some recommendations. I had went with the hot level chicken and it was slightly too spicy for my tastes. Not the fault of the restaurant and I feel like spice levels vary so much from place to place, but I normally like spicy food and I didn't find it. Unenjoyable but next time I would get the medium. The food came out pretty quick and originally apprehensive getting just too tenders. I thought they were a decent size. I ended up finishing most of the meal and had a handful of fries left over. So it is a decent amount of food. One of the additional things I didn't think I would be impressed with, but was is it the rice machine as the little Pebble ice which I think is always a nice touch. All in all a pretty nice chicken place and I would definitely come here again if I needed a meal and I was close by. read more

I think Dave's Hot Chicken is the best. I have been here a few times now, and it always hits the spot. My go to is the 2 tenders with fries combo. I always get extra daves sauce, as daves sauce is just amazing. The tenders are always crispy and spicy at the same time. Love the seasonings they use on the tenders. They are just perfect. I usually get 1 tender medium spice and 1 hot spice. Perfect heat ratio. Their fries are really good too. Dipping them in daves sauce is a must. I recently tried the spicy buffalo Mac, and it was so good. Love the Mac and cheese paired with chicken bites. Everything just blended together perfectly in this box combo. A clean establishment for a quick bite. The chicken was nicely fried. Crispy on outside and meat was tender and juicy. Good size portion for the price. We got the lite mild sauce. Went on a Monday night and it wasn't too busy inside. There were a lot of takes out orders being prepared. It took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. I ordered the #1 which came with two chicken fingers, bread and fries. The chicken tenders were pretty good. I ordered them mild. They weren't the crispiest or most moist but the seasoning stood out with the touch of smokiness, mild spice and slight sweetness. They were also pretty big but given the price they should be. The fries were also really good. They were crispy crinkle cut fries and came with a tangy dipping sauce. The bread and pickles were a nice accompaniment to make the meal more substantial. Overall I would go back but I'm not a not dying to do so. There are other chicken tender places that I prefer and are more reasonably priced. read more

They have a fountain drink machine. I have not tried nuggets there, but sandwiches are great. The service was decent and friendly. The ambiance is unique, with different designs/paintings everywhere. I have tried multiple Dave's Hot Chicken places and have not yet had anything to complain about. I recommend it, if you are looking for a good chicken sandwich. Had to stop by Dave's Hot Chicken while visiting from out of town and it was a good snack! We got the #3 meal which came with one tender, one slider and fries and also the strawberry lemonade slushy. The one meal plus the drink was over $18 which I think is a bit too expensive considering the amount of food you get. The chicken was very tasty and fried well. We got lite mild and it had great flavor! The slider was our favorite and the slaw paired well with it. The fries were delicious! Skip the slushy - it's mostly ice and a tiny cup for the price. Located conveniently on Route 18, it's pretty easy to turn in and there is a decent amount of parking. The inside is bright and fun with beautifully painted murals. Service was good but it did take 12 minutes to get our food which was a little long for fast food. Overall, we enjoyed the food and would come again for a snack, but not for a meal because it would be too expensive. read more

My new go to spot on rt 18 for a quick bite! I came a day after opening and it was so busy and for good reason! The tenders are massive yet still juicy. I got the hot & extra hot tenders and will for sure try the reaper next! The hot was a good heat but the extra hot didn't seem that much hotter. I upgraded and got the cheese fries. This is a new establishment in East Brunswick and it was my first time going. We waited on line about 20 minutes to order as the place was packed. We ordered the slider box. Which comes with 10 sliders and ordered half mild and half hot. What they call a slider a call an entire sandwich so be warned . We also ordered a box of fries which are seasoned, kale slaw, pickles and the Mac and cheese. The chicken sliders were good. I'm not one for spice and the spicy option was just hot enough, but I was able to soldier through without feeling my mouth on fire which says a lot for me. The mild was just right. It was four of us and 5 sandwiches were left and my family can eat. So this was a party box . The Dave's sauce was good. Reminiscent of the chic fil A sauce, but better. They also give you ketchup and honey. The chicken is crispy and top notch. They have 5 levels of spice (No spice, little mild, mild, hot, spicy and Reaper). I would definitely recommend it, but be ready to wait in line. At least for now. read more

Great new addition to EB! Very cool graffiti style decor inside... heard they got real graffiti artists to decorate. Since its grand opening, it's been packed... even out the door at times. Met the owners briefly and they were very friendly. Business seems to be very organized and efficient because the line moves and the orders are correct. Hopefully the new hype stays. Go to the counter, place your order, customize your chicken by spice level, they hand you a pager, and you enjoy a great meal... not your typical fast food joint. I started with hot spice level and felt it was mild. Went back a second time and got very hot which was a little spicy but not over the top. Only thing left is to order reaper level... maybe next visit. Food tasted fresh and was reasonable for the quality and quantity. I just don't understand the prompted 15 - 20% plus gratuity that the register presents you with because you order at a counter, you pick up your food at a counter, you fill your own drink and you bus your own table getting rid of your garbage. I personally think this should be removed. All in all, this is definitely a place to check out and try. read more

At least I felt that way until I tried Dave's Hot Chicken sliders today. First off, when I saw a 2 sliders option I was thinking like a small piece of chicken on a small bun, NO... It's like two full sandwiches! Then, I like spice but figured let me start off medium just to see the hotness level. Didn't feel the spice at first but when it kicks in whoah baby that's some good spiciness. The overall flavor of the sandwich with that slaw is just delicious. Also had one of the cream slushes (creamsicle) which was a perfect summer treat that went well with the meal. Also, the two girls that worked behind the counter were awesome, very friendly and helpful. This was a great experience and I will definitely be going back and would recommend for people to try at least once. read more

I went to check out the opening of the new Dave's Hot Chicken in East Brunswick, and it was a pretty good experience. I love the bright, colorful, graffiti art inside and outside the restaurant. The staff were friendly and the food came out quick. I got a Dave's #4, medium heat, with cheese. It came with a chicken slider, fries, pickles, and extra sauce. I've never had Dave's Hot Chicken before, but I thought the chicken was good. Medium looked more intimidating than it actually tasted, and the chicken was cooked well. I wouldn't say it's super juicy, but it was a good piece of chicken. The crinkle-cut fries were also seasoned well. I'll definitely come back to try one of their spicier options. read more

Yea- this is good stuff. The bites reming me of chick-fil-a, all white meat with a light fry. The strips are thicker than a frozen tyson, but not quite as thick as a breast you would buy at the super market. Really love the fries from here- nice and crispy and great seasoning. Pickles are excellent. I've done all the flavors up to hot, which was very tolerable, so if you like spice don't be afraid to go at least extra hot. The chicken was also covered in what looked to be a lot of spices, but it sorely lacked flavor and seasoning- I had to eat the fries to get salt. Not a fan. This is a Cane's chicken "wannabe ". We were there at 4:30, the only customers at the time. I ordered 10 tenders, cashier heard me wrong and gave me 10 sliders. In fairness, she offered to change them ( and the music was so loud she probably had trouble hearing me). Unfortunately, we were getting pretty impatient, and just couldn't wait for her to change it. There were 7 employees working (i use that term lightly), yet it took 20 minutes to get the food as most of them were just standing around talking. The cost was crazy! The sliders, 2 small kale slaws and a small side of fries... $85. We added 2 sodas while waiting, bringing it to almost $100. Chicken was good (similar to Canes), staff was nice enough..but how long it took, getting the order wrong and the cost, we will not be back. read more

With a side they give plain white bread that is super lightly toasted and French fries that are hot oil tasteless strips. Everyone I know has been raving about this place, I finally stopped in yesterday to give it a try. It was honestly better than I expected. I've had a lot of fried chicken and this was excellent. I was worried the seasoning would be too salty but it wasn't. Prices are a bit steep; however, the portions are large and we were able to make 2 meals out of it. Only criticism is that the fries should've been a bit crispier. Friendly service as well. Overall, I think it's definitely better than KFC and Popeyes. We will be back! read more

Definitely worth the hype. The line is quite long as they just opened but were still able to get our food within 20 minutes. I got the extra hot chicken sandwich after I found out I had to sign a waiver for the reaper. The chicken was amazing and spice was definitely manageable. Next time I'll be sure to get the reaper. I also got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake. I was disappointed when it simple a vanilla ( can pick between chocolate, vanilla or strawberry base) shake with the actual cereal on top. It was a nice sweet treat that complimented the sandwich but nothing special. The fries were also average and tasted just like any other crinkle fries. The chicken bites were also really good however I wish they had the same spice level options as the tenders or sandwich. Still enjoyed my meal and recommend! read more
