These doughnuts have an unique fried flavor, they are very light and buttery. They are award winning in my opinion just plain! I tried their breakfast sandwich, which is made from a doughnut cut in half. It's a little crumbly because the doughnut looses structure being so thin, but I wouldn't want them to change the recipe! The latte was pretty good, although, could be a little hotter. They do not have any Bismarck's or any filled doughnuts which are my favorite...I would love to see them in the future! Hint hint! These doughnuts are always nice and warm, they have somehow times it just right where the icing I isn't melting off but just the right combo of warmth and golden crispy crunch. Ok.....I saw this on the Nextdoor app; and headed that was across town with my husband for a breakfast adventure this morning. WELL WORTH THE DRIVE! I am not a "fan" of donuts as they are far too sweet and sugary for me, so to give a shout out to this location is a BIG DEAL. The donuts are more like freshly crafty pastries than donuts. We had the salted caramel which was buttery and creamy - the puff daddy was a cream filled donut and you could taste the fresh whipped cream and cinnamon in the filling. We also shared a breakfast sandwich / served on a donut, but again, it proved to be savory and NOT overly sweet. They serve a treat called Malasadas on Wednesday & Saturdays......we WILL go back for that. They are a popular "donut" found in Hawaii, and not easy to create. They limit the number of days these are offered as the owners want to ensure they are PERFECT when served, and are made in house. Their version of a "fritter" is pineapple and coconut which by 10am they had sold out of; so that is a MUST TRY on the next visit. Here's a new place on Michigan near Orange Avenue that has a nice twist for donuts. You can choose from 15 different Donuts which they will make fresh for you. Kind of like going to Krispy Kreme when the light is on and getting hot donuts off the rack. I got the Wipeout which is Fruity Pebbles, and the Black Sand beach which is cookie crumbles. These Donuts were very tasty and very fresh. Highly recommend try this place out they also offer coffee service and other copy items such as lattes, cappuccino, espresso etc. Or if you prefer they have sodas juice and water. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the donuts were lackluster. The Guinness stout buttercream donut had not one ioda of Guinness flavor and was basically like a brown pat of butter on top of the donut. My husband got the sour cream which was actually decent though. The highly agressive mask protocol of "don't even think of coming here without a mask" lost them another star. It's beyond time for that nonsense to stop. Had either element been better I would have given 3 stars but I don't plan on visiting again which is a shame as Orlando is lacking good donut shops. read more

Went to Shaka donuts a couple months ago and their donuts were hot, fresh, and all around amazingggg!! Made right in front of you. You could get a dozen for about $15. I went in today and they completely changed everything! Instead of cake donuts they are now yeast. They are pre made and sit out until someone orders them and they place in box. They did not taste fresh or hot. I also paid $31 for a DOZEN DONUTS! I checked on the website before i came in and they said $15. The staff informed me the website had not been updated. No wonder the parking lot was empty at 9 am... Honestly this is such a shame! Bring back the old operations and donuts!! Until then, I wouldn't waste my money. read more

Extremely disappointed in this order. First off it was $27 for six donuts which is kinda crazy but I don't mind paying for good quality. Needless to say these aren't. I'd say the only upside to these was that they were cute for Easter. The cookies and cream filling was hard and balled up at the end of the donut. These are a lighter cake donut (when compared to other donut shops) and most have a Hawaiian theme. So me being of Pacific Island decedency has no bias in this matter other than these donuts are delicious. In fact, this is my third time here and I have officially tried each donut and can say that each is unique. As is the coffee, but it may be sourced from some local coffee vendors as the taste is similar (but this is a good thing if true as it helps other small businesses). I had high hopes for this place because it's a Hawaiian themed bakery and my family is from Hawaii. My friend brought me here for my birthday today. I wore my earrings that are wooden and shaped like the big island of Hawaii. All of the donuts here are named after local Hawaiian things or places, such as "Big Island" and "Black Sand Beach" which I absolutely love! When we arrived, we waited for one customer, then had the place to ourselves and one employee behind the counter. I mentioned to her that I wore my Hawaii earrings just for them! (My friend said aloud, "they are the shape of the big island of Hawaii.") The employee barely acknowledged my remark and just stood there waiting for my order. Sadly, that cost her a tip. She could have at least acknowledged me. I ordered 3 donuts: a coconut cream malasada (Portuguese filled donut that is a local favorite in Hawaii), the Big Island (guava filled), and the Nutty Buddy (chocolate glaze with chopped peanuts). The coconut filling in the malasada was delicious and the guava filling was yummy! Overall, the donuts were pretty good. The dough was Ok, nothing to write home about. I stopped by and got some donuts that were decent but will advise that their hours do vary daily depending on when they run out, so be sure to call or go early so that you can get some. Also was informed the malasadas are sold every Wednesday and Saturday I believe and not sold daily. I am editing my original comment after speaking with the owner who was very civil and kind in his responses to me. I just wanted to inform anyone that may look at reviews first that their hours are longer than they sell donuts due to them also selling ice cream which I did not try so can't advise on that. But if you're in the area go ahead and try them I didn't try many because I got there late at around 3 pm but the strawberry filled one was pretty good. read more

Been looking forward to trying Shaka. Unfortunately, doesn't live up to the hype:( I've tried donuts from all over the world, and I have to say, this is one of the worst donuts I've ever had. The place itself and the employees are fine, but there's something off about the texture. I actually asked the girl who was taking our order if they had raised donuts, and she replied yes. When the hubby and I opened the box, they were the same donuts, except mine had a glaze on it. They're neither raised or cake. When we went to pick the donuts up, they crumbled and fell apart. Maybe we went on an "off" day. Other reviewers said it took a while to complete their order. Ours took but a few minutes. Maybe the batter sat for too long? I'm not sure. Bomb as hell. Stopped here after the medical dispensary and I almost fell over when the potent donut aroma hit me as I walked in. Reminds me of duck donuts back home and sort of like fractured prune which may be the only donuts this place doesnt beat. The donuts are too heavy and cakey, a bit small but you can get a half dozen for $8 dollars which is very reasonable. 'The Heavy' is especially incredible. Okay these donuts are SERIOUSLY delicious. They're kinda a hybrid between cake donut and a regular, fluffy donut which makes for this moist deliciousness I've tried almost every donut on the menu but my absolute favs are the Buddy Dyer donut and the Big Island donut (ask for extra guava drizzle!!). The pineapple glaze on the Aloha isn't the best and tastes a bit "fake." Same with the banana glaze on the BANANAS donut. Other than that this is a great new addition to the SoDo area! read more

This place is IT! These donuts are gonna give Voodoo a run for their money. Plus it's a small business, so go out and support! All of their donuts are cake style as opposed to yeast. Delicious variety to please all flavored donut lovers. Plus they have great coffee and some breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a dozen donuts and two bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches. I had to eliminate three off the island since they have 15 flavor options. The guy manning the cashier helped me by explaining the flavors of the donuts. All 12 of the donuts were phenomenal. Different flavors, textures, colors...yum! I had family visiting from out of town so I cut all the donuts into small pieces so we can all try them. The bacon egg and cheese sandwiches were okay. The "bread" for the sandwiches were actually plain donuts! I thought they were decent, but nothing extraordinary. And the coffee reminded me of "Stumptown" coffee from the Pacific Northwest. Oh. My. Lanta! These donuts are so delicious, served fresh and hot aka 'made to order'. The owners are a sweet young family & built out the shop with top of the line everything, it's gorgeous. The music playing is super relaxing & ties into their theme. The staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and took their time creating my order. The very nice barista took his time explaining their coffee options, I ended up with an iced one pump oat milk latte, delicious- made with Barnies coffee. I can legit say that I've had two of the best donuts I've ever had at Shaka. Now if you're more of a traditionalist with your donuts this might not be the best place for you, but if you love to try different things like I do, this place gave me two great surprises. I had the "Where did all the rum go" donut which is their interpretation of bananas foster in donut form. It was fantastic. If you love banana or bananas foster this is the donut for you. I just have to warn you that the filing is a little messy. The second Donut I had was the Aloha Fritter which was like a pineapple/coconut-ish version of an Apple fritter. The taste was amazing and the texture was great. A crisp crunchy outside with soft inside with bits of pineapple. If you haven't tried this place I definitely recommend it. read more
