On 8/19/25, I dropped off several pieces of jewelry for repair. I took pictures of my items and got a receipt for the items I dropped off. The owner asked me to return the following week, but when I did, the work was not completed. I returned again about three weeks later. After a long search, he brought out my items, but none of the repairs had been done and one of my expensive designer chains (Judith Ripka) was missing. When I mentioned the missing chain, he asked for photos. I had them on my phone and showed it to him. A week later, I returned and found that two pendants had been repaired, but the designer chain was still missing. He asked for a few more days to locate it. After four additional follow-ups with no resolution, he stopped responding. On 9/29/25, I let him know I would give him until 10/1/25 to find the chain. He then told me to come in on 9/30/25 and offered a different chain. I explained the original was a designer gift and irreplaceable. He responded by saying I likely never gave it to him! (I have photos and the receipt he gave me) I'm sharing this experience so others are aware and can decide whether to trust this business with their jewelry. read more

Robert's work is AMAZING. I brought him a small silver necklace that I had to get repaired, as it had been run over in the parking lot accidentally. There were chips all over the pendant and the back was bent. I was a bit nervous that it couldn't be repaired, but Robert's clear experience and professional manner reassured me instantly. He called me to inform that the necklace was done two days later- much earlier than the estimate of a week he had given me! The pendant looked brand new, and he even helped me pick out a chain since I'd lost the previous one. His repairs are also very reasonable- I paid $20 for the repairs and $20 for a very nice chain, which is even better than some of the bead shops on the other side of Encinitas. My daughter had a great experience with Robert, unfortunately mime was different. I brought a vintage heirloom platinum set on Wednesday, I needed it repaired by a vacation we were taking in 10 days. He looked at them and he couldn't give me any idea on cost. He assured me he could have them finished, and said he would call me on Friday, on Saturday my husband called, and he said Sunday. Sunday no answer! Monday I called him, he was going to look at them. When I heard from him Tuesday he said the price would be 1000 to 1200, I was shocked at the price but agreed, I said no more than 1200, I didn't have time to get the work done anywhere else because my rings had been held hostage for a week ! By the next day he would only be able do one ring, not the set! Finally after me pleading both were done, $1293 dollars. No receipt was given, he replaced two very small diamonds .10 or less. The rings were beautiful and well repaired. I felt he procrastinated to force me to pay a outlandish repair cost. I will never return. read more

The very honest men at TimeKeepers down the street recommended Robert for jewelry repair, so I brought in a little bracelet for soldering. It cost about half the worth of the bracelet, but that's not his fault that it was the only thing I could afford on the Ponte Vecchio! It was a well done job, so when my husband lost and found his grandfather's jade ring for the third time, we went in to have it made smaller. I also left my wedding/engagement rings for new prongs and rhodium dip, and the same bracelet for soldering at a different link. The work was finished when promised. Unfortunately we didn't talk price at all (a bad habit of mine - not wanting to appear indelicate), and there was no invoice, just the claim ticket. When I said the repair price was what the wedding band cost (30 years ago), Robert went through each charge and discounted what he could so that we arrived at a mutually agreeable price. He only accepts cash or check, so instead of taking what cash I had, he gave me the jewelry, and said to mail the check! When he received it, he called to thank me, make sure we were happy with the work, and say any adjustments to the ring size would be free. I highly recommend this business because of the quality of work and Robert's reasonable attitude. I would just ask for the total cost first - even at regular price, he's less than chain jewelry stores' repair work. read more
