We were looking for someplace new that offered GF sandwiches so we took advantage of a BOGO burger offer thru their app. This was our first time at a Shake Shack after hearing about them for years. The app was fairly easy to use plus they also offer 3.00 fries and 1.00 fountain drinks thru the app. We received a text very quickly that our order was ready since they were not busy at all at 615pm on a Tuesday night . This is where things went wrong! We both ordered the Smoke Shack burger with American cheese,bacon and chopped cherry peppers. My wife's burger looked great on a GF bun but it was missing the bacon and peppers. My burger was very small in size- slightly bigger than a slider and was soggy due to the peppers being not drained. My wife talked to the manager and he was very nice and brought us 2 new burgers. My wife's was good but they put the ShackSauce on it even tho she asked for no sauce! My burger was still super soggy. They need to drain the cherry peppers and grill them as they make the burger cold. My daughter was excited to try out the Valentine's Day specialty "True Love Shake," so we ordered Shake Shack delivery. I had customized all our orders, and everything was perfect. We had a double Shackburger - no pickles, no tomatoes, and it was outstanding! I got the Chicken Shack, my go-to, and treated myself to avocado this time. I figured there wouldn't be much, but there were multiple slices of creamy avocado and the sandwich was excellent. Full credit to the driver for rapid delivery--I always think that helps! We enjoyed our True Love shakes--it's fun to crack off the shell from the sides of the cup and enjoy it with the ice cream! The description online says "the True Love Shake is made with Shake Shack's signature vanilla frozen custard blended with strawberry purée, then coated in a rich, crackable dark chocolate shell. I said hold the Shacksauce, add lettuce, tomato and pickle and paid 99 cents extra for a gluten free bun. It was 6:10pm when we ordered and the order was ready by 6:19pm. My burger came out looking great except it had no bacon or chopped cherry peppers that come on the SmokeShack burger. To their credit the staff member I spoke to said that they would remake the order especially after I also showed him my husband's SmokeShack burger that came out with the potato bun so wet and so smashed that it was completely falling apart and looked gross. The second set of burgers were well made and delicious. I did remove the top of my gluten free bun and ate it open faced because it had Shacksauce on it. My husband said the cherry peppers and pickle were ice cold so even the remade version had a pretty soggy potato bun. The fries were solid. I would avoid the SmokeShack burger next time. The staff member gave us a $5 off coupon to use to come back before the end of the year and wished us a Happy Thanksgiving as we were leaving. I visited this location (first time trying SS!) and ordered a veggie burger specifically asking for no cheese. When it came out with cheese, I sent it back to be corrected. Instead of making a fresh one, the kitchen clearly just peeled the cheese off and served the same patty back to me. You can see the cheese residue left behind in the photo. This is incredibly lazy and shows a complete lack of regard for a customer's dietary requests. For a vegan order, simply removing the topping doesn't fix the mistake, it's just poor service and a lack of basic food prep standards! To make matters worse, I called the restaurant to address this, and the manager was completely dismissive. Instead of taking accountability for the lack of protocol, they handled the situation poorly and didn't seem to care at all. I am glad to see Shake Shack come closer to the west. I've always been a fan of this place but Oakbrook is too far at times. This location is a little different to the previous places I have been. The store is very easy to find with decent parking for Bloomingdale. Store is a little smaller. However, you should have no big issues finding this place especially since it is on the corner. Inside, there is no real counter but a few kiosks to order your food. When I arrived, there was a worker there to help me order. Sadly there is no soda fountain. And the prices are normal to other locations (but high when compared to places like McDonalds). Two burgers, cheese fries and two drinks came out to $30. Maybe I'm easily impressed, but I didn't really experience anything that would justify such a low 2-star rating for this new Shake Shack location. My wife and I grabbed dinner here on a weeknight and it wasn't busy at all. The interior was super clean and brand new. When we walked in we were greeted by an employee and they walked us through the ordering process on the self-serve kiosk. If you're dining in you grab a number tag and enter it on the screen to link it to your order. We grabbed a booth and the food was ready in a few minutes. In that time span two different employees checked in at the table and made sure everything was going well. They're definitely subscribing to the Chick-fil-a program of above and beyond hospitality. As for the food, there was no drop off in quality from the other Shake Shack experiences we've had in Chicago and NYC. The burgers had that great smash burger crisped edge and the Martin's potato rolls were pillowy soft. The crinkle fries were crispy and that cheese sauce is top-tier, on the same level as Portillos. We also got a flat-top hot dog, which was a Vienna hot dog split down the middle so you got that crisp edge. The hot dog bun was just as soft as the burger. Overall, I'm not sure what everyone's problem is with Shake Shack. Yes, it's more expensive than McDonald's but Shake Shack's quality is way better than a normal fast food chain. Nobody wants to pay more for smaller portions, but that's just how it is pretty much everywhere these days. I love Shake Shack and we are all super excited that one finally opened close to us. It has a drive through but you can still eat inside. I think this location opened on March 8 so relatively recently. I appreciated that they have ordering via kiosk because it was PACKED. We ordered our standard order but my four year old opted not to eat anything except his shake which he did not finish. They have the standard Shake Shack far, which is fine. It seemed like it took an exceptionally long time for our food to come but I assume they still have not worked out all the kinks yet for a new location. Due to their ridiculously small serving sizes, Shake Shack is a terrible value, perhaps the worst I've ever seen in a fast food restaurant. This is a big disappointment only because everything tastes exactly like Wendy's (a great thing!), but costs about 2 to 3 times more (a bad thing!), even making Portillo's a much better proposition. The fact that they built a brand new building to serve what we can all buy at Wendy's is a big shame, especially with the excitement we all felt while they were building the place. Went through the drive through, ordered an avocado bacon burger, small fry and small drink. $20!!!! Way overpriced. That's nuts! Food was just placed in a bag, nothing was wrapped! Buyers remorse. Went in today for the first time the four of us. My wife and I both had a single burger with Carolina bbq and fried pickles and each a soda. There were only two tiny pickle slices and for all the single burgers, none of the patties could have even made it to quarter pound size. What you get doesn't resemble the photos even remotely. The kids both had a single burger and a shake each, and we split two orders of cheese fries between the four of us. The cheese is a gross oil solid mass on the crinkle fry you need to scrape off. There are no utensils or condiments and no soda machine to get a refill from on the four dollar soda... No ketchup dispensers and no humans at the counter. Everything is delivered on a small metal prison plate that you clear away yourself after you're done. 76 dollars later, we felt like we just lost the money in a casino slot machine. No photos necessary. If you're craving a burger, just move on to Five Guys. read more
