One day on my way home with my girlfriend. We were having that moment where if you ask a girl what to eat, she'll say "anything" but in reality, she's the world's pickiest eater. Suggesting almost everything spot that we passes by and finally Shake Shack. She finally said something about a spot n not just "anything". This was our first time trying out Shake Shack. Ordering: It. Was. A. Breeze! The employee behind the window was suggesting us food to order. Narrowing down what we would like. She's also very nice and polite. Food: We ended up getting three burgers, one regular fries, and another with cheese and bacon. Burger tasted amazing. Fries went well with the burger but the cheese and bacon kind of sucked. Had Shake Shack for the first time at this location, did the order in person and took it to go. They do have several different ways you can order which is pretty cool! It wasn't very busy the time we went, around 11:45 on a Wednesday. The space inside is really big with plenty of seating but we had to go back to the office regardless. The food was super good! I had a regular cheeseburger and fries. I will say, I thought the fries were thin, but still tasty. The burger was perfect, ketchup was needed and I forgot that but it was delicious regardless. I had the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant ever at this shake shack. They have the most incompetent, shameful, and unprofessional group of employees you can possibly encounter. I am from New York and used to go to shake shack up there regularly, but this one in coral gables is bad to the point where it's beyond parody. First of all, I walked in and went right up to the lady at the cash register. She didn't greet me, she stared me down and just ignored me. Many employees gathered around her and NONE of them greeted me and asked for my order. They just stood around hanging out. I finally said, "I'm confused, which one of you do I order with?" They ignored me and just looked at each other and whispered to each other. I was nonplussed to say the least. Eventually, a girl came out of the bathroom and took my order. I paid with card, and she claimed that the charge did not go through because the register was connecting . I looked at my bank app and showed her that the charge did in fact go through. Not only that, they checked the kitchen screen and the order was there for the cooks. So there was obviously a glitch with the system. When I got my burger, it was TERRIBLE. It was burnt and charred to the point that it tasted like ash. It was dry and crispy. Not only that, they called my name up to the counter again at some point and when I came, a group of employees told me again that my charge didn't go through. I opened my bank app and showed them that it did go through, but an employee, an old lady, said it didn't matter what my bank said and that I would have to pay again. I told her that under no circumstances will I pay twice for the same burger. She started yelling at me asking me why I took the burger they gave me if I didn't pay for it and I kept saying I did pay for it and kept showing her the proof, but she didn't want to see it. Other employees were laughing at her verbal abuse of me. She wanted to charge me over and over again for the same meal as if it was a shakedown . The burger was ruined, so I should have been asking for a refund; instead, they wanted me to pay again. A gentleman behind me came up to me and asked if I was having the same problem as him and he showed me his bank account and said the employees had charged him FOUR times for the same meal and kept asking him to pay again. It was a ludicrous showcase of borderline criminal, unprofessional, and unacceptable behavior, and the biggest demonstration of incompetence I have ever witnessed at any restaurant in my entire life. The quality of the employees at this restaurant is as bad as it can possibly get. None of them feel the slightest bit obligated to do their jobs or show an iota of professionalism or competence. Because of my experience at this shake shack, I will never go to any shake shack ever again. I was initially ignored and not granted the decency of verbal communication, I was then verbally abused, they tried to steal money from me by making me pay over and over again, and the burger was the worst Ive ever had. I've been coming to this location for quite sometime and even made it a point when everything was normal(pre COVID) to eat here before going to watch a movie. It was perfect every time. You can never go wrong with a shack burger and a side of cheese fries. What's beautiful is that their burgers are well seasoned and just consistent. Which is what we wish every burger we love to be, every bite as good as the last one. Now what makes their cheese fries incredible is that even though they are drenched in this gooey delicious cream sauce each fry still maintains it crunch. I normally get the shack burger. There is also hotdogs (they are ok) and chicken sandwiches. But they are known for their delicious greasy burgers. Shake shack has a secret menu which I looked up one day after hearing about it from a friend. It consists of you adding things off their menu in different way. Everything here no matter the combination is good and fast food like. They are what I like to call "doggy friendly " and have good for dogs. This is especially useful in their Lincoln road location. A friendly discussion of which was the best burger spot in town led to a get together at Shake Shack. I've driven past this location countless times, but never had the chance to step inside. They have foosball, and ping pong tables among other games so the kids will get a bit loud around you. There is a parking lot out front and some spots around the side of the restaurant but parking was scarce. The line of cars to get into the shack looped around the lot and into traffic. The cheese fries were the highlight of the meal, definitely a must try. You can ask for the cheese on the side, rather than on the fries, which will prevent them from getting soggy throughout your meal. I had the shroom burger (a vegetarian option, it is not a meat patty topped with mushrooms as I originally thought). A delightful cheesy explosion with the combination of Muenster and Cheddar cheese. It was a bit difficult to eat as I pulled the portobello out from the fried outer layer after a few bites and had to place it back into the burger. Nevertheless, it wasn't too heavy, but definitely filling. My friend opted for the shack stack, it wasn't as large as I pictured but definitely very filling and satisfying. He mentioned it had a lot of cheese (cheese in the burger patty, two types of cheese in the portobello Patty) and he had cheese fries, but if you love cheese, this meal is right up your alley. He had the salted caramel mocha shake and was a bit disappointed he didn't get the salted caramel taste until he reached the bottom of his shake. So my name was called and he picked up our tray stopped by the condiment bar and brought it all to the table. My cheeseburger looked good and I liked the paper wrapping it came in. Now my BF burger looked weird. There was something fried in between the burger. So I took a look at the menu and realized the mushroom was what was deeply breaded, stuffed with cheese, fried, and placed on top of the burger. Nevertheless he enjoyed it and each bite had yummy gooey cheese. I loved my cheese fries but who wouldn't. We enjoyed our meal BUT I have to say spending $30 for these meals seemed ridiculous! I love Shake Shack - you always know what you're getting. Everything is delicious and comes out fast and hot. The service here is also really good compared to other shake shacks I've been to (and also clean and well organized). It's a little expensive considering it is still fast food, but it is what it is. The other problem is that it's really loud and occasionally my order gets messed up, but they always fix it with no additional hassle or cost. I like this place. They have improved it much since they first opened their first location in Lincoln Rd. This Shake Shack has TV screens showing sports (after all, UM is across the street, GO CANES!), and they also have a very enviable ping pong table. Hmmm, I love ping pong. Every time I come, I have to wait and play ping pong. This is a good place to come with the family and/or friends. They sell beer from local breweries, that is a plus, and the food menu is pretty good. I don't eat the burgers anymore, but they have the Shroom Burger which is vegetarian, and then the Chick'n Shack and the Chicken Dog, which are chicken based. But of course, if you come here and you do not share a shake, well, it's like going to the moon and forgetting to take pictures. My favorite was the peanut butter shake. Man, so rich. The place is never really packed, so you will have a chance to lounge. It is also mostly quiet. But if you are aiming for that ping pong table, you may have to wait. The ShackBurger is a good classic. If I'm feeling indulgent, I'll go with the SmokeShack that adds cherry pepper and bacon. Finally, I recently tried the Chick'n Shack and it was good, but I thought my piece of chicken could be a little thicker since the herb mayo and bun seemed to overpower it. I'll stick with burgers! Fries look like cafeteria fries but are usually cooked to perfection and definitely good with some cheese sauce. There is lots to drink from beer and wine, to soda, cold brew coffee and special lemonades. If you're not counting calories, I'd suggest going for a shake or concrete on the side. I love visiting different Shake Shacks to discover their regional concrete specials. Here, we are blessed with the Key Lime Pie Oh My, vanilla custard blended with a slice of key lime pie. What?! We ordered bacon cheese fries, but there was no bacon on them and there was little cheese sauce on them, so we paid extra and "it" didn't even taste good. I had high expectations after everything I'd heard about the shake shack's burger and sorry but Ive got to say, I felt a little let down. The meat itself was really good and was seasoned perfectly. The bun was also fresh and soft but it looked like someone sat on it. The fries however were horrible. There is no other way to say it. They're just ghastly. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. They have high ceilings and terrible acoustics and the place has such a high noise level, I could barely stand it. I also appreciated how the table was made from reclaimed bowling alley flooring from Brooklyn, NY. In addition, the bathroom was very clean. I like it when bathroom doors go all the way to the bottom of the floor. It's a bathroom, why not have that privacy?! Already, Shake Shack was winning by its looks, menu and alcohol options. I ordered the Shack Burger, cheese fries and vanilla frozen custard. When I finally got my order, I had to take a picture. Like others mentioned, Shake Shack's food photographs really beautifully. Good job on having photogenic food, Shake Shack! Upon biting into the burger, I noticed it was juicy buuuuuut it was kind of salty. It was also not that flavorful. The Shacksauce was good but nothing mind-blowing. I didn't desire it as much as I pine after the In & Out "secret sauce" aka spread. The fries were okay. The frozen custard was creamy and rich. I'd be interested in trying it with different toppings. Despite winning in looks, menu and alcohol options, In & Out definitely wins in flavor. I feel like prices are incomparable; although Shake Shack have slightly higher prices, they also have more add-ins for their burgers (ie. bacon, mushrooms, etc). All in all, I cannot go back to a restaurant just for its looks, menu options and alcohol. When I want a burger, I want a good-tasting burger that leaves me satisfied. So Shake Shack versus In & Out? Honestly, it was pretty good (as in much better than McDonalds) but not great like Five Guys, BurgerFi, Charm City, etc. The restaurant is super clean, modern, lots of seats. The menu is simple and easy to understand and the service was good. The burgers are very good and will satisfy, but fall a notch below the other "upscale burger joints" as the competition is stiff in this food category. This goes especially for the food, while my burger may have been a lot smaller than I had hopped for it remained relatively juicy and delicious from the first to last bite. The ratio of everything on this burger was textbook, nothing was too overwhelming but nothing really stood out either. It was a good burger, the heavens did not open up but I was satisfied. I for one will not recommend the cheesy fries. Simply put if you like a glob of nothing but a bland serving of cheddar cheese from a can with your fries then this dish is for you.
