I was proud to be the first app order! I went to pick it up, and this place was already crowded! I'm guessing it will stay that way from now on! Lots of people working there and super helpful! I guess that's always the case on day one! Really nice location! Food took about 10 to 15 minutes after I placed the order, which is pretty normal. Was the usual excellent Shake Shack fare!! I am just so happy they are in our neighborhood!! Update: I realized after writing my review that their hours are going to be 5 PM to 9 PM. That seems rather crazy to me! I'm not sure if it's because of staffing issues. I cannot imagine that's a very good, long-term, business strategy! I really hope that changes soon! I was pretty sad to hear that Choolah was gone but I'm a pretty decent Shake Shack fan so I'm glad they finally opened an even closer location to me. I'm loving the process of this Shake Shack since previous one's that I have visited just had very backed up lines and then they yell out for your orders. There are 4 credit card only self service screens that made the ordering/paying process a lot easier and 1 or 2 cash only registers just in case. Once your order is ready, you receive a text and just go up and grab it. We got a single Shackburger, a Shack Stack, Bacon Cheese Fries, a Fifty/Fifty Spring Citrusade, and a Chocolate Pie Shake. They're pretty consistent usually when it comes to the food. The burgers and fries were great as expected. The Citrusade wasn't too sweet, but I couldn't really taste either part of the drink too so not really my favorite. The pie shake was ok, mostly a chocolate shake flavor with a lot of cookie crumble/pie crust at the bottom which was kind of difficult to drink, straw could've been bigger. I would love to come back and test their online ordering since I had so many problems at the Tysons location with that. Hopefully they will reach back out to me with that but in the mean time i'll stick with their burgers and fries. read more

I have been to many shake shack locations over the years and honestly while the burgers are better than a typical fast food burger, they aren't as good as other options like five guys, Z burger, burger 7, smashburger, etc. Their beef patties are supposedly angus beef and higher quality, but they are more greasy than most burger places yet not more flavorful. The burger buns could use some improvement- they are just plain potato buns. They use soybean oil on their french fries and some of the sauces, which should change. Sometimes they have good seasonal lemonade flavors and seasonal milkshake flavors. One problem with the lemonade drinks is they put way, way too much ice. One time 2/3 of the cup was filled with ice. So you may want to ask for no ice on the lemonades. One of the employees seemed to complain about the no ice request, and it's possible one of them wanted to charge extra for a no ice request. It was long ago so i can't remember all the details on the lemonade and ice issue. Their shack sauce needs improvement in my opinion. It seems to be some sort of cheese based sauce. You have to use it sparingly; the burgers can get nasty if you put too much of the shacksauce on them. read more

Bright new location in Mosaic. Free parking in any of the many lots around. Shake shack is in the spot where Choolah used to be, right beside Angelika theater, if you have visited the Mosaic Center before. This location is super clean and bright, huge windows to let the sun in on lots of seating indoor and out. There are kiosks to order and pay from (Im a fan of pictures ) which made the lunch "crowd" able to place their orders placed pretty quick. Got the bacon avocado cheeseburger which was super fresh. Glad to have this as an option here near my office. read more

Restaurant struggles with staffing. Was rudely dismissed while at the counter (by the manager??) even though they served the customer right before me. Why open if you are not staffed? Are you even treating or paying your staff appropriately for there to be issues with staffing? Edit: whoever (a man) was managing on 6/6/2022 is also rude to other staff. I overheard another staff member ask him a question and he dismissed/snapped at her instead of helping. I understand the duress of working a busy shift, but why not work as a team instead placing your anger on the staff that did show up? read more

The thing with shake shack is you have to outsmart them in order to have a great experience. And make no mistake, when the Shack is hitting on all cylinders they are awesome. But unfortunately it's exceedingly rare. So how do you get the heavenly version of their burger and fries? How indeed. The default mode it seems to be for Shake Shack is to cook a lot of their food ahead of time. Their reasoning I'm assuming is if a rush comes they're prepared, and if not, then their customers still get their food fast, but it isn't hot/fresh. Look into the kitchen of any of their restaurants you'll see trays and trays of fries under heat lamps. And based on my recent experience there must also be a mountain of burgers being kept warm on the back of the grill, sadly all dried out by the time they get to the mouths of customers. So the key to outsmarting this puzzling strategy is to only place orders when they are swamped with customers. And the only way to know that is to place the order in person, and never on the app. This strategy requires walking away and going somewhere else for dinner if there aren't customers pouring out the door. The question is whether the wait and see strategy is worth it. I guess from a positive perspective you could look at it like luck. Hey I'm at a Shack Shack, I'm hungry, and they're swamped with customers - score! Or maybe I'll just give up and head elsewhere for a quick bite where the food is consistently excellent, and made fresh to order. read more

First of all, THANK YOU mosaic district for finally having a fair priced and delicious burger spot. Most restaurants in mosaic that sell burgers often require a whole sit down and full service. It's great, but sometimes it's nice to have a grab and go. I grew up going to the shake shack in Tyson's corner mall, so moment I walked into the mosaic location, the ambiance felt like a breath of fresh air. Very modern and clean. The staff, especially the manager, Julie was extremely welcoming. She knows the ins and the outs (I was observing EVERYTHING) And she definitely is efficient and is great with her team members. An employee asked for her help with supplies, the sharpie was low! and she was eager and kindly helped them back right away! Sharpies are a staple to organizing take out orders. Great management is a reflection of the staff and the execution to a restaurant. Kudos to Julie because the 10 minutes I was standing there, she exemplified the management I'd love to work for: efficient, fair, friendly, and passionate. Her team members, I wish I asked for his name, he had really cool and intricate tattoos; he was very friendly, too and was nice enough to put my order together and throwing a shack shack sauce for me. I also noticed how frequent the employees changed out their gloves between orders! That's perfect, especially for allergies and constantly touching surfaces and packaging materials. Again, I notice everything and I'm very glad to know and feel comfortable devouring my burger. I'm an extrovert, but I sure did enjoy the self service kiosk. Super efficient and allowed me to order my meal just how I wanted it. The food came out quick and all correct. Now let's get to the juicy part. THE BURGER IS THE JUICIEST AND SATISFIED MY CRAVING. I took mine to go and ate at home and even with the way back home, that burger stayed warm and the best part, it wasn't soggy. It's the perfect size because most of the time, burgers make me feel so sick and heavy, but the single patty was the right amount for dinner. The shack shack sauce was so creamy, I dipped my fries in it along with the cheese. The fries are crispy but buttery soft on the inside. I definitely see that I'll be ordering here frequently. Not going to waste time writing about the burgers because I think almost everyone is familiar with shake shack, personally it's one of my favorite burger places. Only reason why I'm giving it a "meh" rating is cause the service is so slow here, like sloth-levels of slowness. We waited about 35 minutes to be called up then after another 5-10 minutes they found out someone stole our order. Over an hour long wait total. Though the replacement burgers and fries were real good. I'd say give this place some time to settle down a bit before going in during peak hours on a weekend. OMG!! I was so excited to see that they opened a Shake Shack at the mosaic! For starters, I would have to say that this location is huge. When my friend and I walked through the door, someone had greeted us which was very polite. They have kiosks for you to order if you don't feel like waiting in line. While my friend was ordering there was another employee walking around the kiosks in case a guest needed help. Her food came out fast, and we decided to see on the patio. While outside, another employee walked by and asked us if we were okay and if we need anything. The staff is pretty attentive which is extremely nice. The bathroom was fairly clean, and the restaurant all around was clean. I definitely liked this location & the customer service better than the other locations. read more

The app won't let you order even when you're standing inside the store. Directs you to the Tysons Corner location instead. The kiosks won't let you input the code for your free milkshake either. I'm surprised there's a shake shack in Mosaic now but I was excited nonetheless. I came for lunch on Wednesday (6/1) around 3:30 4pm ish and it wasn't too crowded. My husband ordered the wrong burger by accident but the women who helped us (I forgot her name) was super helpful and accommodating. Pretty disappointed as they got our burgers wrong. Forgot an extra sauce that I paid for, put absolutely no shake sauce on the burgers, and put tomatoes on the burger which my wife is allergic to. I love Shake Shack but this location needs help on a corporate level. I keep going back because it is the closest location to my house, and I am praying that things have improved. I may be mistaken but I am pretty sure this location is flying without a manager. I have eaten there at least four times since they opened and there is always some sort of system issue. I few weeks ago their fryer was down so no fries, then today the kiosks were all offline, which resulted in longer than usual wait times. Also their fries are never hot. They need better hours. By that I mean they need to be open earlier. How am I supposed to come here for lunch if they aren't open till 4pm! 7 days a week 4-9pm. How about doubling operating hours so you're like a real shake shack. Food took way too long to come out. Wouldn't bring hungry kids here. With the amount of cameras in the place you'd think they'd have more time to focus on making food faster. The weird popsicle forks for the cheese fries and bacon cheese fries are good enough but annoying. Feels like I'm eating with a gelato spoon. Just invest in real forks! Where are the utensils! The fact that they don't have combos is a turn off. Everything's overpriced anyway. Why isn't the fountain soda machine out for the public to use. They overfill the drinks so it spills from the lid. But at least they use real straws. All they have out is water and cups. Don't order the chocolate pie with the rest of your food. It'll be melted by the time you get to it after eating everything else! Straw doesn't help there as the oat pie and croissant cookie crumbles don't go through the straw. The text system works but it should include the order in the text. When they call out names they need to work on pronunciation. Maybe use a loudspeaker system. Online ordering doesn't work for this location on their website. They do clear tables, wipe them down, and ask if they can take your trays. When they change the trash they take the entire can away and leave a tray blocking the opening in case someone tries to throw things away before they come back. The bathrooms are nice. Single use gender neutral rooms with occupancy lock. Eco conscious flush options. Automatic flush. Automatic sink. Manual soap. Air dryer or paper towels.
