Nice Shake Shack, seating inside and outdoors, parking lot separate from the rest of the shopping plaza. We got a few burgers as well as the limited-time onion rings. All the burger customizations were right, the food was ready quickly, and the quality was the same as what you would expect from a good burger at any Shack location. I just wish the onion rings were on the permanent menu and not a temporary special. While the food was good, the restaurant did need a little more upkeep - no water cups, toilet paper out in one stall, stuff like that. I love a burger loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, and all the toppings, and I wasn't sure Shake Shack could deliver on that front. Driving up was a breeze as it is on Route 9 in the Trader Joe's shopping center complex. Parking was plentiful, so I was off to a good start with my fast-food adventure. I placed my order through the newly downloaded Shake Shack app, opting for their famous ShackBurger, fries, and a milkshake, vanilla & chocolate shake. It should be noted that they do not offer any "value meals" as the fries come separately. After taking a few bites, I quickly realized that calling this "fast food" doesn't do it justice. The food at Shake Shack is fresh, and once you place your order, the app tells you exactly when to expect it. If you order via the in-store kiosk, you have the option to dine in or take out, but the app only allows takeout. The ShackBurger didn't disappoint. It came loaded with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and a delicious sauce, all sandwiched in a perfectly soft potato bun. I'm picky about potato buns, and I hate when they're stale or cold, but Shake Shack's was fresh and warm. As for the milkshake, it was incredibly thick; so much so that I had to grab a spoon because it was nearly impossible to drink through a straw. Rich, creamy, and indulgent, it was the perfect treat. Madison, a friendly employee, was busy delivering orders and opening doors for customers. Other staff members also kept busy, wiping down tables after customers left to ensure everything was neat and clean. Overall, I was impressed. Shake Shack may be "fast food," but it feels more like a higher-end experience with fresh, flavorful ingredients and excellent service. read more

This the first time we've been to this location. I ordered the portabella mushroom burger. It was delicious, gooey with lots of cheese. BF had the Carolina chicken sandwich which he enjoyed. I came here on the Thursday after they opened Monday. We tried coming the day before, around 7:30, Wednesday, but the line was out the door. The line was still pretty long on Thursday, both inside and the drive through. There are three kiosks to self order from, but only one was working. There's also only one person taking orders, and they aren't available for online orders at this time. Despite all that, it wasn't too long until we ordered and I think less than ten minutes until we got our food delivered to our table. One of my family's favorite places for takeout! I came here a little while ago, I used the drive-thru to order some food. Got up to the window, and the worker said, "We accidentally made two of the same sandwich you ordered. We put the extra one in with your order." Yes! Free sandwich! Who else does this? Food is OK but not worth the price. I mean almost $20 for a smallish burger, cheese fries, and a small drink. Fries taste like they come out of a bag. Cheese sauce was kind of like melted government cheese. Besides the price, you wait forever for your food. I waited approximately 20 minutes and consider myself lucky as people were waiting 40 or more minutes. Place is somewhat clean. The counter where the ketchup dispensers are is pretty gross! I'd stay away from it. The kids that work there are pretty nice, considering they deal with the angry people standing around waiting for food. read more

It was my first time trying the Shake Shack but in my opinion is over priced for no reason. maddie and sam are the reason for my 5 star review. freehold shake shack has a great vibe inside. the manager sam and employee madison "maddie" are two of the nicest people. they both genuinely make you feel like a valued customer. the burgers and shakes were delicious but i agree with others who say it is way too expensive. the french fries were crinkle cut which i am not a fan of~(you can't please everybody). the burger is definitely different from any other fast food restaurant and it was delicious. the interior is kept super clean and has a great ambiance. honestly, what made the experience most enjoyable was maddie and sam. to both of you~much continued success~you are great at what you do! read more

Went to the drive-thru and ordered 2 cheeseburgers, 1 order of fries to share, 1 chocolate shake and 1 strawberry shake. $38 and 20 minutes later we were finally at the pick-up window. Burgers were well-done (burned) and the Crinkle-cut fries tasted like frozen fries baked in the oven, no flavor. Shakes were tasty but were served in small cups, not like the shakes at Jersey Freeze. The drive through is very convenient but it seems coupons etc. received in email from Shake Shack cannot be applied to the drive through. The quality is the same as Eatontown (which seems to have discontinued curbside) and is as good as what I remember at Citi Field. Expensive, yes, quality yes.
