Stopped by Shake Shack at JFK Airport before my flight back to AUS. Funny story, I used to wait over 3 hours to get a Shake Shack burger at Madison Square Park back when there were only 2 Shake Shack locations. Now you can conveniently order a burger in no time from a location in the airport. You place your food order from a touch screen kiosk. You can also watch your order being prepared by employees in the kitchen. This location has the typical Shake Shack vibe and flair. I ordered the single-patty ShackBurger, a made-to-order quarter pound patty of 100% Angus beef with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. The burger really hit the spot before a flight. The burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and made fresh, with the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and bun. Simple, classic, and satisfying. For an airport location, the quality held up surprisingly well. Service was a bit slow but everything came out hot and neatly put together. Prices are a bit higher at the airport, but the consistency and flavor made it worth it. I didn't have time to make a sandwich, and thought that GF items would be limited in the airport. My absolute favorite fries are crinkle fries! Idk exactly why. Perhaps they're evocative of my childhood and youth, when every diner and burger joint served them. So I headed to Shake Shack for some lovely delicious fries. Ordering is a pain. You use a kiosk. No live people. I had gotten a bottle of water. The screen said to "scan" any other items. There is no barcode and no scanner. After saying three or four times that I couldn't scan the water, someone came over. You have to page through the menu. Ugh. Paid, typed in my name, and waited. And waited. Finally, my name was called, and I got my fries and some napkins. I sat I a lounge chair right across from Shake Shack, and.....the fries were cold. Terrible, awful, crushing disappointment. I so rarely eat fries these days. I was anticipating hot, golden, lovely crispy fries. I got lukewarm semi-limp mostly underdone fries. A sad, sad feeling. There's no seating at Shake Shack, but you can sit at a gate or take your food with you. Employees were working very hard, so it's strange that my fries were cold. Picked up food as soon as they opened at 4AM after our flight arrived in. We placed our food order through a kiosk and then proceeded to wait a little longer than I would have hoped for, but granted they had just opened. I did appreciate that they had not only breakfast items but also you could get a regular burger and fries. Overall, we were happy with our food, but I just wished it had moved along a little quicker without much a line hence the 3 stars. I stopped at the B23 Shake Shack for breakfast, ordering their sausage, double egg and cheese with a large bottle of water. The menu informs you of the calorie count as well as sodium I believe and you should pay attention, especially if you may be sodium sensitive. I often arrive at my terminal starving, given the time required to make an early flight means I've been rushing to get there with time to spare. So I ordered it with double egg, but their sausage patties are definitely loaded with a good deal of sodium. I don't add a lot of salt to my food, because too many people in my family have pressure. Yeah, I tasted it in this breakfast sandwich and it's more sodium than you will experience at any food cart in the City, but still good. Remember, you're ravenous at this moment and you kick the sodium out of your mind as best you can...and then you're glad you have a large bottle of cool water to wash it all down and hopefully aide in ridding yourself of that sodium. Service was quick and they have someone at the register if you're not excited about placing your order at the kiosk or if you only have cash. This review is for my experience in the Shake Shack in terminal 4 of JFK. This is the smaller one of two , and does not have sitting area, just the ordering tablets and pick up counter. I was impressed by how Quick my order came out and it was as good as any other Shake Shack location. I did notice that they have Higher prices and they do not accept coupons because it is an airport location. Great for a quick pick me up when in a rush. read more

Honestly- for airport food its not terrible. Service was quick which is clutch for a quick bite if you're tight in time. Food was cold. 35 min wait for two burgers, with no food in sight. First number called when we started waiting was only about 20 from our number. After complaining, they say someone else took our order even though they never called our name or number. When I lived in NYC, Shake Shack had just opened in Bryant Park, and I still remember the thrill of biting into their famous hot dog. This time it's the Double Shackburger, no tomato, for my last meal in New York, and the patties are as juicy as I remember. I was extremely excited that Shake Shake has a location in Terminal 4 of JFK Airport. I've been here once, but was in such a rush I had no time for food pics, or check-in on Yelp. So this is my first time writing an actual review. The queue to get in is short and fast. The restaurant is more of a free standing restaurant. When entering customers can grab their drinks from the refrigerator first, then order your food from the self service kiosks. As an airport employee, I followed all the TSA Agents as they waited for a live person to take your order instead of using a kiosk. What I ordered was a double shack cheeseburger and french fries. It only took about 5 minutes for my order to come out. They don't have tables, but what other airport employees did was head back to the Food Hall area where there were dining tables and high bar stool seating so I could enjoy my "breakfast" before heading to the gate. By far the worst people and customer service ever. After 25 minutes, I decided I wanted a refund on the veggie burger I ordered. They decided to wait until they finished the burger so they could throw it in the trash right in front of my face and then gave me a refund. You can't make this stuff up. Hilariously bad service. I expected the food to take forever, and it did, but I did not expect to be refused ketchup. Ketchup is a basic right granted to all US citizens. One of the women behind the counter must have been having the worst days of her life because she told me "there's no ketchup" when I saw them stacked up like little soldiers. I had to ask someone else who eventually handed one over. Also, we ordered a chicken patty for my daughter (on the touch screen) and they gave her a hamburger instead which we realized on the plane, she won't eat beef so she had the lettuce from my husband's salad. I was so disappointed. I love shake shack and was excited for my shack stack only to be disappointed. My son ordered a regular cheeseburger and I ordered the shack stack. There were 2 screens where you place your order and if you needed assistance you had to wait for an attendant to arrive to take your order. It was busy and decided to keep it simple order on the screen only burger and a shack stack. Instead of calling your name as the order is ready they wait for 5 or 6 orders to be ready and call each name causing a crowd and the food to be cold. Shake Shack shockingly had limited rush, and screen ordering to minimize my early morning and sleep deprived interaction, so it was an instant win. I went to order from their limited breakfast menu, and ordered the sandwich with tater tots a and egg and cheese and bacon. The screen ordering system is needlessly confusion. I could not figure out how to move it forward, and then I proceeded to answer several questions, some of which repeated themselves. But finally, I got to the end and paid. In good news, my food came out very quickly. Sandwich was small, especially for the $7 price, but this is an airport shake shack.
