My husband and I drove to Lexington to visit our favorite antique shops, and with plans to go to Shake Shack. We were both looking forward to trying their burgers and chocolate malts. We both ordered a double ShackBurger with cheese, fries, and chocolate malts. We were both longing a chocolate malt, and I have to say, they were lacking the malt flavor. They just tasted like plain chocolate shakes. The burgers were greasy and I could not taste their signature sauce. My husband really liked the burger for the same reason I didn't. He loves a greasy burger. They have crinkle fries which I love, so that was the only positive for me. I think for my taste, I agree with Andrew Zimmern, and for my money, I prefer Culver's. I tried Shake Shack for the first time in Texas a year ago, and on a recent trip I insisted that we go out of our way to stop since there isn't one near my stomping grounds. Located in the middle of an outdoor mall, this location offers a clean, welcoming environment with cool decor with logos engraved into multiple items throughout the building. Bathrooms were also very clean. There is outdoor seating available (it's a covered patio - bring your dogs!) along with a grass turf for kids to play. As it is approaching Christmas there was a festive setup for a nice photo-op opportunity if you'd like. Now to get to the point- the food is absolutely delicious. It's a bit pricey, but in my opinion completely worth it. An article was just released comparing meat quality of popular burger chains and Shake Shack was at the top. I got a Shake Shake Burger with fries. The bun was nicely toasted with butter, and the burger patties had amazing flavor and were very juicy. The Shake Shack sauce on the burger takes it to a whole other level. I would describe it as tangy mayo... and I honestly wish I could take a jar home of that sauce. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy and had sea salt on top. They offer organic iced tea as well as soft drinks and delicious milkshakes. They even have one with Makers Mark in it. Modern building in the middle of an outdoor shopping mall/area. This restaurant is delicious and amazing, it is counter style service where you order and then pick up at a counter. I had the double shackburger and fries and my wife had the single shackburger and fries with a strawberry milkshake. The food was phenomenal and the service was fast and friendly. The burger was amazing and has easily taken a top spot in my list of delicious burgers. The shake was perfect with the heat on this summer day and was smooth and very delicious.If you are ever in or around Lexington and looking for something fast and delicious this is the perfect place. My best friend lives in New Jersey. She had Shake Shack but I had Steak & Shake. So, for years, we had a debate going over which was better to have. Shake Shack's burger is better, but Steak & Shake's milkshakes are out of this world. Shake Shack's a little classier, I suppose. But the deciding factor, for me, always came down to the price. Steak & Shake is far easier on the wallet, so if I had to choose, Steak & Shake gets my vote. But now I don't have to choose. So, I win. Suck it, New Jersey! (Okay, not exactly true. We returned to Shake Shack Lexington after a day trip to the Red River Gorge area. Did some pre-dinner browsing around the Summit shops to get us to the "old people dinner hour". Really nice venue there at the Summit with lots of food and shopping choices. We pretty much ordered the same thing we had the last time at the Shack; two burgers, a hot dog three fries and a vanilla shake. Glad to see tables now deployed instead of stacked up due to pandemic procedures. Was perfect weather for outdoor dining. Indoor dining still closed, but not a big deal in late summer. Just a few folks about, but it was early dinnertime. I have to put Shake Shack burgers right up there as one of the best. Great flavor, cooked right, great bun. The crinkle cut fries are also wonderful. Shake Shack folks sent me a coupon after our last visit, so that was a handy addition (we would have went anyway, we were within 25 miles). We had our food in about 10 minutes. No issues today, other than I probably should have ordered a shake too. Delicious! A great trip, wrapping up with a great dinner. I love Shake Shack! I am absolutely ecstatic that we now have a location in Kentucky, even if I do have to drive from Louisville to Lexington to visit it! My favorite item is the SmokeShack, which is a cheeseburger served with bacon, chopped cherry peppers, and ShackSauce. It's so good! Something about those little peppers just kicks the burger up a notch and makes it something really great. I always order fries, usually plain (though the cheese fries are great too), and they're always cooked to perfection; crisp on the outside and soft pillowy potato on the inside. On our most recent visit B decided to opt for the Hot Chick'n, which is served topped with slaw. I hadn't had this item before, so I gave it a try, and I've got to say it was pretty tasty. Nothing will replace my beloved SmokeShack though! Then the absolute coolest thing about this location is the Kentucky Exclusive, Bourbon Salted Caramel Shake, which features original Maker's Mark and is absolutely delicious! I think it's so awesome that they added a bourbon shake to represent Kentucky, so of course I have to order it when I visit. And it doesn't hurt that it tastes really great too! If you haven't had a chance to check out a Shake Shack before and you're in the Lexington area be sure to go try this one out! As soon as I heard the buzz that we are getting our own in Lexington, I've been dying to get my burger fix. I've paid a few visits to this new location in the Summit. The chicken burger, Chick N' Shack, is fresh and crispy. But my go to is the classic Shack Burger. It is pricier than your usual fast food chains, but you get what you pay for. The potato buns make everything taste better. Crinkle cut cheese fries and concrete are just the cherry on top. Opening day! So happy this franchise has made it to lexington. They handled opening day traffic SO well. They were adequately staffed, lines moved very quickly, and food was served within reasonable time. Even though the line stretched out the door all evening, our meals were perfect. Fries were crispy and burgers made well. No sign of rush/opening day stress. Multiple managers on site helping accommodate customers as well! We had the smoke shack and the shroom burger. Obviously the chocolate shake because it's the bomb. And lots of fries. The space is really pretty. Big windows, lots of seating. I was very excited to hear Shake Shack was coming to Lexington after eating at one in New York last year. It's a great addition to the area. I went for the first time today, as I was hoping the hype had died down a bit & it wouldn't be as crowded, but it's still quite the happening place. The line remained out the door the entire time we were there, though it seemed to move in a timely manner-all things considered. The inside area isn't that large but there's outdoor seating also available &, though dogs are not allowed inside the restaurants, there are two items specifically for dogs that are on the menu. My husband & I both got the regular burger & fries. Both were very good & I especially loved the crispness of the fries. The price & quality is similar to that of Smashburger so go in expecting to pay a little more for a quality burger-this is not a Wendy's. read more

I was NOT impressed. It's mediocre fast food at high prices. I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a small drink. It cost $11.10. There is no kind of combo deal or anything like that so save money. That's a plain cheeseburger, an order of fries, and a drink that at most places would be kid-sized. The burger was an average fast-food burger in size and quality, roughly comparable to a junior cheeseburger at Wendy's or a single burger at Steak and Shake in size and quality. The only thing that stood out about it at all was the bun was slightly toasted. The menu said a normal cheeseburger was supposed to have lettuce and tomato, but my burger apparently came without those. The burger was also extremely salty, not just a little, but overpoweringly so. It was salty enough to make you really want to drink a lot. The drink was a small cup, almost entirely full of ice with enough soda in it for maybe one good drink. . .and no free refills. Unlike most burger joints nowadays, they keep the soda fountains behind the counter. See also how salty the burger was. The fries were normal, routine crinkle-cut fries in a paper tray. The whole meal felt like something from a concession stand at a ball game or amusement park, and about similar prices and quality. The place has fancy wooden decor, flashy flat-panel monitor displays promoting items (like a milkshake with bourbon added, which made me think of the "Five Dollar Milkshake" from Pulp Fiction, where John Travolta's character asks if they put bourbon in the milkshake to explain why it costs $5). I know that rent is expensive at The Summit, but the whole thing felt like a seriously overpriced fast food joint. I was underwhelmed by the quality and it was definitely NOT worth the price I paid. I don't get what the hype is about people saying this place is so great, the food is about the same as at Steak and Shake or Wendy's, but at about a 75% markup from those places (and they at least have free refills on drinks). read more

Ok so I heard the hype from my family that live in another state. In my opinion it is somewhat costly, but my friend paid for my meal. I only ordered the single cheeseburger & she ordered the double. We both ordered fries, she actually ordered another fry. The cost for fries was a lot for the small order you get, but they were my favorite crinkle cut and seasoned well. But to thr burger, I loved the flavor, even the bread was delicious & I'm particular about my bread. I did not get a shake, I'll do that the next time. Overall, it is costly so I won't frequent. Who hasn't heard of the famous New York Shake Shack with its long lines of people waiting, waiting, waiting. Lexington now has its own Shake Shack. I went to the soft opening where the food was flowing, but I had to go back to see if the burger was as good as I thought, and not just because I was hungry. I remind that I'm not a fast foodie and never cross the threshold of those myriad of places I will not name. Shake Shack is somewhere in between. The burger was pretty darn good -- again. SS's crinkle fries came to me hot and crispy, and better than most in more restaurant-y places. While I'm not likely to become a Shack-ie, I'm thinking I'll have to try a shake down the road, just so I know. read more

Here is where they just didn't do it for me. First of all, I ordered a water and all they gave me was a cup of ice with no instructions. I thought maybe the lady thought I just wanted ice, because I did emphasize that I wanted lots of ice, which I didn't get. However the tap where you get the water is on the condiment station and no one told us so we stood in line again to ask for water only to be informed of the water being on the station. Ok fine. Second issue, was it was a UK game night and you have 3 TV's and no one knows how to change the channel. Do you not know that you live in Wildcat country? Like, no one knows how to change the channel on the TV? I mean, I know that has nothing to do with the food, but honestly someone should have been able to change the channel so we can watch the Cats... like we were watching basketball but it was some random NBA game... BORING!. Lastly, this cheese sauce as you can see from my picture, it was just a clump of cold cheese. I am so glad I did not have them put them over my fries. Despite the transport time that it took for the food to be carried by my Dasher to my office --that simple cheeseburger was maybe the BEST cheeseburger I've ever had -- and, just between you and me-- I've had way too many cheeseburgers. The single Shack Burger was absolutely delicious. Just the right size. Not too much so as to make you feel overly full but just enough to let you know that you just had a good sandwich. The meat, the melted American cheese, and the buttery soft squishy bun (with the bottom side toasted) were delicious. The two slices of tomato and the green tender lettuce leaf were great. But oh that Shack sauce! That sauce is what makes this little burger a giant among its peers. Jimmy Buffet taught us about a cheeseburger in paradise -- well you might just think you're in paradise when you indulge in this little gem of a cheeseburger. Yeah, it's that good. I don't know. We had been trying and trying to get over to here because we heard how good the burgers are. I was disappointed. First, the parking. We had to park over behind Ted's Montana Grill and walk in the rain over in the rain to get to it. That may have clouded my judgement. We got there at 6 and we were 1 of 2 tables. Again, maybe because of rain. We both got burgers and fries. Lots of people working. They were just ok. Just ok to me...means I don't need to make my way over again. In Lexington for the day to move our son Into his dorm at UK for the start of his sophomore year. Decided to stop and get a quick burger and fries before heading back home. We all opted for the Smokeshack burger and we all gave it a big THUMBS UP!!!! The spicy description caught my eye. All in all it was a very tasty burger. Hard to say if it's the quality of the beef or the brioche type bun or the mildly spicy peppers or perhaps the sauce but the result was a great tasting burger! The fries are as they say "Crispy, crunchy, salty potato-y goodness"........pretty awesome!!!!! Finished all of mine and was pressured to polish off some leftovers!!!!! My daughter raved about the chocolate concrete: frozen custard blended with your choice of toppings. No wonder this place has a cult like appeal in some parts of the country.
