Their pizza, fried chicken, and mojos are what people come here for. Even if you just order the mojos (which are these potato slices), it would still be one of the best things you could order on their menu. But take the food out of the picture, it's not the most amazing place to eat with your friends. This place usually gets busy around dinner time and that's when the place gets really crowded. I personally don't like the place because it has this old wooden odor and the lighting is nearly dimmed down. It has a mini-arcade so on a busy hour, expect lots of screaming children running around. It can get pretty loud in there, so loud that you might have to yell to talk to the person across from you. The staff, however, were awesome. They were really helpful and friendly. They were always going around, making sure that everything was OK, and trying to maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant to the best of their abilities. Food = 2 thumbs up! So disappointing!!! After work I placed an online order for a large thin crust pepperoni and sausage pizza with extra pepperoni and sausage. When I arrived my pizza wasn't ready waited about 5 minutes for it. And it was not what I ordered, no extra pepperoni and absolutely no sausage. Needless to say I had to wait another 20 minutes while they prepared another one. As I'm waiting I was thinking to myself, they should provide me with some free mojos for having to wait, that would have been nice, but that didn't happen, Well, when I got home and took a better look at my pizza... I can't find where they put the extra pepperoni and it was a little dry and it had chucks of sausage...did they forget to add the sauce?!!! Everyone loved the potatoes, the hot wings were just ok in my opinion, didn't like how they don't have different flavors, you have to just go pour some ranch/buffalo wing sauce/bbq/sweet&spicy sauce in a container and dip your chicken. The pizza wasn't bad, the kids wanted meat lovers, it had a LOT of meat toppings, we got full, I couldn't finish it. Don't like how the salad bar always has little kids just picking and doing whatever the hell they want to it, grossed me out. They have kid games so there's kids running around. I'd never even *heard* of Shakey's until a few months ago, when my wife started talking about how she used to go there as a kid, and that she remembered the pizza was decent for all you can eat, and how she hadn't been there since she was a kid and was curious if it would hold up. So yesterday, we were driving right by on the way to somewhere else, so I said we should check it out and see. I wasn't terribly optimistic when I saw 3 stars, but what I was, was super starving, so 10 bucks for even mediocre pizza still sounded like a good idea at the time. As it turns out, while the ambiance of the place is pretty much exactly what I expected - like a poor man's Chuck-e Cheese, kinda dingy, with little kids running around, and constant family-friendly music I could really have done without (given the season, it was all Christmas music, because of *course* it was) - the pizza was actually *surprisingly* good. I mean, it wasn't artisan craft fancy pizza, and it wouldn't win any awards, but I wasn't ever expecting to compare it to that sort of pizza - I was expecting to compare it to Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Domino's, etc, or even my favorite local crazy-cheap-pizza place, La Pizza Loca, and in terms of quality of pizza, it beats all their pants off, no question about it. I wouldn't go out of my way to *order* this pizza, but for $10 for all you can eat, I've got no complaints. Yes, it was clearly made in a factory somewhere, and yes, they're all just dripping with fat, but they had flavor, the crust was neither too doughy nor too dry, and in general, I absolutely - *surprisingly* - enjoyed stuffing my face with it. Amusingly, they even had surprisingly attentive service (way more attentive than many far-more-expensive buffets I've been to), even if the staff mostly didn't seem to speak very much English. read more
