Called to see if they accepted my insurance and they did and easily scheduled an appointment. Got to the office and to my surprise, the waiting area is empty! If you have been to any medical offices in chinatown, you would now it is packed all the time. Didn't even have to wait and was seen right away as scheduled. There was a dental assistant who took all my x-rays and if it is your first time, there is a lot! She was very nice and understanding and informed me that if I needed a break from the x-rays to let her know. After the x-rays, I was seen by Dr. Song. Dr. Song was amazing! He performed a gum analysis, oral and neck cancer screening that was touching the inside and outside of my mouth and the sides of my neck, and the tongue. Such thorough examinations for the first visit and worth the time for the examination and cleaning. Love that they gave goggles for me to wear because water always splatters for cleaning. Overall, an amazing experience and look forward to my future visits for my bi-annual cleanings.

The x-rays are conducted in the open hallway and the rooms themselves are terribly sectioned. While getting photos done the door was wide open and other patience's and drs are just walking by. Just a weird experience and heads up for anyone who likes basic privacy... Also just have to call out that all of these new "good reviews" are due to them giving out a free teeth whitening pen if you make a review. They then recommended a periodontal procedure after which I was hit with nearly $2,000 in unexpected charges because the specialist was apparently out-of-network, something that was never explained to me beforehand. I want to stress this point. Based on conversations with Smile, I prepaid the full cost and fully expected to be completely reimbursed by my insurance because this kind of procedure is covered in-network. The insurance claim process dragged on for months due to repeated missing documentation and resubmissions. I spent an absurd amount of time chasing updates between the office and Delta Dental. In the end, Smile Lab took no responsibility and offered no meaningful accommodation, despite the confusing and misleading way the treatment was presented. I left feeling misled, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. I can see online from other reports on yelp, Google, and the Better Business Bureau that this happens quite frequently at this practice and the vehemently aggressive way they argue with patients in these reviews and BBB report filings is appalling. As you can see in the photos Dr. Lazare uses a red dye to mark the decay and then works patiently to remove the decay and then rebuild the tooth. Some preface: Another dentist drilled deep into my teeth, exposing the nerve, and then said I…read moreneeded a root canal. While it was unclear from what she said whether she caused the damage, or if my prior filling was damaged before she did work on me, in any case she was adamant that I see her Endodontist friend nearby to get a $2500+ root canal and crown. She also drilled into my upper tooth to fill a cavity that caused extreme pain for months after, which she blamed on my tooth adapting to the filling. To this day I still feel some weird pressure when I smile from her "dental work." She also chipped one of my nearby teeth in the process. In any case, I went to Dr. Young to get a second opinion about the root canal. Although my cavity was pretty deep, I wasn't in a lot of pain for that tooth; Dr. Young didn't think a root canal was a necessity and tried to save the tooth by doing a much cheaper procedure. Anyway, 7 months later and the X-ray shows my tooth is healed. Dr. Young's cleanings and cavity fillings are expensive (especially paying out of pocket like me) but totally worth it. Going to him will reduce your likelihood of paying for much more expensive procedures in the future, so it's just a smart investment to go here for dental work.
