I am THE PICKIEST person on the planet. Literally, I may be. I can provide examples if needed. But I would get a full back tattoo of my stylist's face, I love her so much. She makes it look like my hair grew out of my head this way. I've never had a bad cut or color. My mom and I both go to Kari. She and her husband treat my mom like a queen when she visits. When I first moved here I had the hardest time ever finding a place to get my hair cut...there just weren't many reviews out there and I was really paranoid about walking into a place full of big hair, chatty middle aged women and strange foreign chemical smells. Thank goodness I discovered Shampoo! No funky smells or gigantic sprayed 'dos here...just a cute, fun atmosphere with cool, friendly stylists giving great cuts in an old house converted into a clean, airy and spacious salon. Renn cuts my hair and has always done a stellar job...she obviously knows what she's doing and makes the whole experience fun. She colored my hair once as well and it turned out awesome. But don't worry - just from looking at the other patrons whilst I've been in there I don't doubt that all the stylists do a great job. Oh, another plus...they don't take tips-tip is already included in the price of the cut so you don't have to figure it out. Not that I'm a total cheapskate but the whole tipping thing can be such a stressful transaction at times...I'm always afraid of tipping too little and looking like I hated it or tipping too much and looking like a fool...its just awkward. I'd rather have it taken care of and express my satisfaction verbally, and by returning again again. read more

Just across the street from popular restaurant Uncle Julio's, Shampoo is a cute boutique salon in a quirky renovated home on a street that's part commercial and part residential. It hit me yesterday that I'd gone too long without taming those split ends, so I called Shampoo (which I found here, on Yelp!) and got an appointment for the next hour. Lucky for me, there was a last-minute cancellation--otherwise I would suggest calling a day or two in advance. Shampoo is family run business--it's a husband and wife team, plus some siblings and friends. The stylists treat their customers with care, and I was truly comfortable the whole hour I spent getting my hair cut and styled. Not to mention that it's a great environment in which to sit--the house is adorable, hip and fresh, and there are hilarious pictures of cats wearing wigs all over the store (this is part of a series called Glamourpuss that you can find on amazon). The end result? CUTE HAIR! I had a fabulous experience at Shampoo! The stylists know what they're doing and they have steady stream of patrons with awesome hair (that's a good sign!). A wash/cut/dry will run you about $60 (depending on the stylist), and they don't accept tips (prices are adjusted for that reason). Josh and the entire crew at Shampoo are the absolute best and so talented! My 5 star review is about 6 years overdue..... Josh has taken my long, thick hair from dark to light, back to dark, to balayage then ombré. I don't trust anyone else with my hair now after he's corrected some other color fails. He's proud of how he geeks out on perfecting your cut and color. Bonus, everyone at Shampoo is so pleasant to be around and are all passionate hair gurus. I am leaving an updated review for Shampoo, since my trip to their salon, and getting a bad cut and color I have been harassed by their friends and staff through Yelp and text messaging because I left a one star review. I did not lie in any part of my review, the pictures speak for itself. My hair was to my waist, long healthy and VIRGIN HAIR. No part of my hair has been colored or bleached. Now, I am currently undergoing color correction services because JILL was so sloppy with the foils in the back of my hair. I know I have a lot of hair, and I know it's long, so if she was so intimidated she shouldn't have touched it! When I took my hair down in that salon, all of the stylists were saying how gorgeous my hair, obviously Jill couldn't handle it. I'd give a negative star if I could...after having a baseball-size brain tumor removed my hair was tangled and matted. I spoke with a stylist on the phone who assured me she could work with me. The day before my appointment, I received a call saying the stylist had quit. I understand completely. Rescheduled with another stylist. Day of appointment received a call indicating stylist was ill. Again, understandable. At this point I was frustrated and trying to get my hair taken care of so I could heal physically and mentally. I asked for a call from the manager so we could identify who would be the ideal stylist to schedule time. Guess what?? It's been six months and still no call. This could be the last salon in Fort Worth and I'd burn in hell before I'd step foot in the establishment. read more

Very pleasant home feel place. Entrance is on the back which you access it from the parking lot. Greeted by the friendly hostess: she will show the place around to the first time clients: you have the kitchen, washing room, bathroom and small waiting area. My hairdresser was Jill. Very professional, love her style and vibe, not pushy (meaning she does not interview you and your personal life, which I appreciate) I had light brown hair color. She did few highlights on two different browns. I was very pleased with the color end result, however not so much with the blow-dry. My hair ended up like a long-haired-broom. The price was a BIG surprise, I did not expect to pay that much for hair color (which comes with blow-dry), to be honest this was the most expensive place I've visited for hair. Be ready to pay over $200.00. ***Also tip is included on the price which I don't think it's fair. ***Three stars because I really like my hair color, the polite staff, hospitality, but I still think it's away overpriced. read more

Shampoo seems to please the Westover Hills ladies. But the prices are too high, they don't do color well, and their haircuts are safe and merely acceptable. Tbe folks are nice (a couple of them are related), but at those prices, we should get more than just "good enough for Cowtown." read more

Candice cut an excellent style into my crazy, curly, wavy and semi - straight hair. I am terrible at styling my own hair and told her the fate of my appearance was totally in her hands. Imagine my surprise when the LEAST I do to my hair, the better it looks. A little curl custard or cream for frizz control, air dry and I am good to go. I get lots of compliments. I'm thrilled. As she had to go pretty short to "fix" the previous cut, I'm hopeful we'll have a long relationship growing out my mop. read more

Sometimes I think people want a quick haircut and go to procuts but when you want a team that really knows hair, cares about hair and how it will look weeks later, do yourself a favor and come to Josh and his team. I have known Josh for years and years. I have moved and live further than I used to from him but still, when I get to where I just want a really good cut, I'll see him. Such a relaxing place to go. I followed Candice here...she's amazing. She does great color, cut and blow dry and she always takes time with your hair...EVERY TIME! The entire staff is very nice and they always offer you a drink. I love to see the new plants and eclectic art pieces that pop up or look at a vintage beauty magazine. I hadn't had a haircut in over a year and I get really nervous about going to a new stylist. I looked up all the great reviews about Shampoo and I decided to go for it. I booked a last minute appointment with the receptionist who was awesome. She told me there was an appointment available that day, which I wasn't expecting. I thought I would have to wait until after Christmas. So glad I called when I did. I was placed with Candice and she did SUCH an awesome job on my hair. My layers were so long and stringy before and she brought me up to a perfect length (which I was really happy about), made my hair look thicker and 100% healthier than before, and she left me with nice face-framing, bouncy layers in the front (exactly what I wanted). My hair had volume and lift but felt thick and full at the same time. They were really busy when I was there but I never felt like Candice was rushing even though I know she was working on me and another client getting color done. I was in and out in about an hour (shampoo,cut,style) and great conversation too. She really did a perfect job. I will definitely be back to see her again. Some of the other clients sounded like regulars and all of the staff seemed to know their names. Everyone was offered a drink (myself included) and the receptionist even gave a mini tour since I hadn't been there before. The salon itself is adorable. I was taking mental pictures of all the cute furniture and decor. The space is really bright with lots of natural light. It's got a really cool mix of mid-century modern, vintage-y, eclectic decor. (*Totally unrelated to hair but I was DYING over their mint-colored SMEG fridge!) If you're going for the first time, parking and the entrance is in the back. Run don't walk from this salon. The stylists are awful! They hide under a faced of thinking they are better than others and charge people outrageous prices and try to have it come across as talent. My hair is not they way asked for it and they made me wait an hour. Was not pleased at all. read more
