The wrong design he showed me before making the gate. It's missing the central post making it look like two doors instead of one.

This was one of the most awful, traumatic experiences working with any contractor I've ever had. Patrick was extremely difficult to work with and a terrible communicator. He hardly answered emails or when he would, he'd ignoring the content. When communicating verbally, it was in one ear and out the other. It took me a year and a half to get the gate installed. From April 2019 to May 22, 2020, I just had the gate posts there in my driveway, and no gate. When they finally brought over the gate and installed it, it was not made according to the agreed-upon specs, so they carted it off and re-did it. Even in the 2nd install, while now the gate is made according to the specs, there are still unresolved issues that I don't even want to bother with fixing any more In April 2019, after Patrick knew which of his gate styles I wanted, he came with his guys to install the posts in the cement. I needed the gate to open outwards but he said that wasn't possible. A friend of mine said it would be, and made designs, which I both emailed him and hand-delivered in Nov 2019 when I went to his workshop. I brought my friend to discuss it in person before they even started building the gate. The gate design I had wanted was based on a photo of a gate in his studio and one installed in Pasadena. I insisted on including a design of the gate with the contract. He provided me an incorrect design, which was missing the central thick post, which is one of the main features I liked about the actual gate- that it looked like two doors. Instead, his design was one panel. I asked him to re-design it with the measurements but based on the photo of a gate he had done but he refused, saying he had to pay someone $100 to make the first drawing. So I did it myself using this photo he sent me as the basis, and I gave that to him with specs written on it. Also, because Patrick complained that there weren't specifics on the functionality, I gave him those specs, too. In my Nov. 11, 2019 email to him, I tried to make it crystal clear: "Hi Patrick Ready to move forward again on the gate. Todd even made a 2-D model to make sure that my car will fit though and i'd have about 10" on each side of my sideview mirrors. I'm attaching his diagrams and measurements here in the PDF and I asked him to write down in text form what he wants to say about the 3rd page. 1. Weld a second 4" by 4" steel post to the existing one so that the gate can swing open to the backyard with its hinge pin centers located 5" away from the house's wall (requires custom block or bracket to weld hinge pin bodies to post). 2. Weld the hinge pin bodies to the BACKSIDE of the gate on 1/4" steel reinforcement plates which are welded onto the gate's 1.5" by 1.5" vertical posts. 3. Mount the Liftmaster LA400 on a custom-made bracket so it's pivot center is 2" left and 8" back from the hinge pin center axis (left means towards the house wall and back means towards the backyard). The Liftmaster LA400 should be installed low and out of view behind the bottom panels on the gate. 4. Attach the actuator arm of the Liftmaster LA400 to the BACKSIDE of the gate 45" away from the gate's hinge pin center axis (will require a 1/4" steel reinforcement plate welded across the gate's 1" by 1.5" horizontal members at the attachment point)." On Nov. 12, he wrote back: "We can not work with this. It has no guidance at all . Plus I think we can do it without the second post. So I think we need to meet again. We have an other option for the gate which would allow us not to use the second post" It then took 9 more emails to figure out from him WHEN would be good to meet. Dec. 5 , 2019 after 2 days of unanswered emails, I called. I thought he needed to come back on site to go over the design but he refused to come back because he claimed I made him stand in the sun for two hours and because of his illness it's not good for him, to which I said I was not familiar with that illness or its dangers, to which he said "you're a teacher, you should look it up." I wanted everything to be in writing as a record. We met again on Dec. 6 at his workshop. I handed him hard copies of the designs and dimensions of the gate bc. he lost the specs. Long story shot, in May 2020 they installed the gate, but it wasn't to specs at all. They took it back, fixed it, and when the re-installed it, the computer panel wouldn't work and I had to wait another 3+ weeks. Now it works, but there are still issues with it, like when they touched up the black paint on the gate, they also sprayed my house in several places; they added a ball cap instead of the flat cap on a post that we had discussed, etc. Avoid the drama and choose another contractor.

Patrick at Shamrock did a great job on my garage door. He helped me find a great flat panel design that worked well with my mid-century house. The new motor and side rail system increased the height clearance by about 6 inches. A bonus surprise is how quiet the door is in comparison to my 60 year old squeaker. I'm sure the neighbors appreciate the silence. I saw a couple reviews calling Patrick "rude", which is the opposite experience that I had with him. He's professional, not a chatty-Kathy... Patrick's very knowledgable, get's to the point quickly, and sticks to the quote price. Door did run a little late, which I expected having done lots of work on houses in the past. His installers left my garage cleaner than when they arrived.I'd use him again, and definitely recommend him. Fastest way to get ahold of Patrick is to call, email takes a bit longer for response.

We are absolutely in LOVE with the gates we just had custom designed, built, and installed by Shamrock gates. We saw a home near us with beautiful gates and asked the owners who did them. They told us Shamrock gates! They shared how happy they were with Shamrock gates. We looked around but no other companies we found had pictures matching the beauty and quality of Shamrock. Patrick is an expert with lots of experience specializing in gates. Patrick was kind and professional and really gave us old fashioned personalized service that you just don't find out there anymore. We are so happy with how our gates turned out. They were built offsite and installed in one day! I love our new gates so much that I sit outside just to look at them because they make me feel so happy. They add so much beauty to our home! Thank you, Patrick and Shamrock gates!

Danny came to my house to repair the garage door. He seemed honest, really soft spoken and kind. He…read moresaid I'll only charge you for what's needed to be repaired. After fixing our door he suggested we get the springs changed because they're old and it'll eventually snap. He gave me 2 prices. One for basic and one for heavy duty. We were hesitant as it was expensive. He said let me call my boss and see if you can get a discount. Literally minutes later he said we can get a deal with the heavy duty. We moved forward with it. When he was done he said we should also get a new motor. He can give me a discount as well. At this point my husband was working and I said I'm not going to make big financial decisions without him. Later, my husband went to inspect the work and saw that the springs used were not heavy duty, they're color coded. He called and asked for the manufacture of the springs to confirm durability which they refused to disclose. He was then quickly offered a partial refund. Due to this experience my husband left a negative review. We originally chose this company because of the positive yelp reviews and felt we wanted people, like us, to be forewarned. Now they are calling us from multiple phone numbers, came to my house while my husband was at work, and left us a threatening voicemail if we do not call them back. Needless to say, as a woman with small children, I do not appreciate the unexpected visitor. This harassment has been going on for days. They threatened to come with the police and lawyers because they're not going to service us anymore. I don't understand as the service has been done and paid. We will no longer work with you in the future. We've already looked into calling our local police department if this harassment continues and have saved our call logs, Google doorbell camera videos, truck license plate number, and voicemails. If we need to, we will contact the BBB. Under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CFRA) this form of retaliation is illegal for businesses to behave as such. It's a shame instead of learning from their review and doing better for their customers they choose harassments and threats.

I figured it was best to replace both before they broke, and likely this was the reason for the uneven closing. I received a reasonable quote, and Dan was very professional in his assessment. He didn't try to upsell anything, but simply provided helpful recommendations. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service. Dan was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Highly recommended.

Fixed my…read moreissues and then some - excellent service, quality work, great prices - he really made a potentially stressful (and expensive) situation easy to handle and left my door opener in better condition than he found it! I initially requested a quote via Yelp's "project" panel, describing my issue and I had a next-day appointment secured with Greg by the end of the day! Based on my limited description of the issue, Greg was able to provide me with a thorough quote - actually 3 separate quotes for all the potential issues that might be causing my malfunction. Greg gave me a 2 hour time frame for the appointment and texted me early and showed up right on time at the beginning of the window - very prompt! He diagnosed and fixed my issue so quickly and even made sure my opener was lubricated appropriately and running even better than before - above and beyond! He doesn't try and push a bunch of unnecessary services or equipment on you - he's a real straight shooter and it was so refreshing! He was a joy to chat to and work with. And his prices just can't be beat - very reasonable! It's so rare nowadays to come away feeling satisfied with value for price - I was so impressed. Greg did explain that Yelp doesn't always notify him of quote requests and that texting is best for the fastest reply - which it does specify on his website (see attached photo). He also accepts all forms of payment - credit cards, checks, cash, and even Zelle or Venmo! They've recently relocated the business from Monrovia to Rancho Cucamonga - but the bulk of his clients are in Monrovia and he definitely still services this area - lucky for me lol! We are beginning renovations on our house and will definitely be reaching out to Greg when we're ready to redo our garage doors - highly recommend!! Tysm Greg!

This time, we reached out because of a grinding noise coming from near the motor. We reached out to Greg and another service we've used in the past. The other service told us we probably need a new motor because it's 18 years old and gave a couple quotes for replacement. Greg, on the other hand, scheduled time to take a look. He saw that the belt was wearing and said this could be the issue. He advised that the belt should have a lifetime warranty and to call Liftmaster to order new one. He provided me with the model number and even the phone number to call, explaining that garage door companies can no longer request the warranty for customers and we have to call in ourselves. Greg came out last Tuesday & said the belt would probably arrive on Friday. The call to Liftmaster was super easy and the belt arrived on Thursday! Greg said the plan would be to replace the belt. If that didn't work, we already discussed the Liftmaster model for replacement as we know the motor will need replacing soon. Greg said he'll bring the new motor just in case, and if the belt replacement doesn't fix the issue and we need to replace the whole motor, he won't charge us any extra labor. We scheduled Greg for today (Monday), and he installed the belt in no time! Fortunately, the replacement belt did the trick and the grinding noise was gone! This will buy us some time before needing to replace the motor. We couldn't be happier with Greg. First of all, he's a very nice & genuine guy. I'm sure he's busy but he still takes time to chat with you and answer all your questions -- he never seems in a hurry. Second, he's super knowledgeable and experienced. Lastly, he's always accommodating, prompt, and his prices are very reasonable. When we need any future garage-related services, there's no question that Greg is our guy!
