Tried their lobster roll and crab roll. The crab roll was $20 and the lobster roll was $30. Both came stuffed with meat. Thought they were both really good, might have even liked the crab roll a little more. Fast casual restaurant, most people just get to go.
Luke's Lobster offers a combo that contains three mini lobster rolls with various preparations to allow a sampling. Sustainable quality sea food can come with a bit of sticker shock, but the chips and drink included helps, as does how filling the rolls are and how quickly they are prepared. The staff are friendly and know their products. A delightful experience.
Got lobster roll, crab roll and clam chowder. Lobster roll was delicious. Crab roll was too salty for my taste. Clam chowder was alright. I liked the lobster roll here more than the famous James Hook's. Service was fantastic!
When in Boston, you need to try lobsters and clam chowder. This is conveniently located close to the mall and several hotels. The staff were professional and we got our food within a reasonable amount of time. Inside was clean and bright. My friend and I ordered the Lobster Roll Flight (comes with chips and a drink) and the Clam Chowder (8 oz). Everything was cooked well, but honestly it didn't stand out. It wasn't as fresh as another place I tried in Boston. Not a bad place, but I won't go out of my way...especially when I found out it's a chain with one near me.
Luke's Lobster has always been recommended to me as a well-known spot for lobster rolls, so we decided to stop in for a late Saturday lunch with a group of friends. Even as a party of six, we were able to find enough seating, which was a pleasant surprise for a busy weekend in Back Bay. The Back Bay location had plenty of seating and multiple clean restrooms for guests to use. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and our food came out quickly. Within 5 minutes of ordering our orders were called, so service was definitely a strong point. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the hype or the price. The lobster rolls were noticeably small for what they cost and ended up feeling underwhelming. My partner and I shared the roll flight (lobster, crab, and shrimp), which also included a bowl of clam chowder, a bag of chips, and a drink. While it was nice to sample a few options, the overall value still fell short. Having had lobster rolls in Maine, New York, and at various local spots around Boston (including places like Quincy Market), this just didn't compare. Unless you're really in a pinch and craving a lobster roll in the city, I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend Luke's Lobster.
Luke's Lobster features lobster rolls overflowing with fresh chunks of lobster meat in butter and lemon, served on a toasted, buttery split-top bun. The clam chowder is creamy and comforting. Portions were small and kind of pricey. Service is friendly and efficient and the decor is very nautical. It's a great place for a quick lunch or a light dinner.
Luke's Lobstah Rolls were delicious! Definitely on the pricey side, lunch came to $115, but totally worth it. We got: 2 Lobster Roll Flights (2 oz each, x3) 1 Classic Lobster Roll (quarter lb) Both came with potato chips and a drink (water or soda from the fridge). The lobster was sweet, and I loved trying the different flavor variations. The bread... oh my, it was buttery and absolutely delicious. This was bread I actually enjoyed eating on its own! Some small improvements: 1. drinks were limited to water and sodas. I didn't see any diet options, or zero sugar, so I just went with a water bottle. 2. They also don't provide ice; I asked for some, but they couldn't give any even though I know they have it in the back. 3. The staff wasn't the friendliest, not that they need to be overly chatty, but a simple hello goes a long way. Seating was plentiful, and the location is convenient, and within walking distance to the Boston Public Library. Overall, if you're in Boston, go for the Lobstah Roll Flight, it's worth it!
This girl was so excited to try a lobster roll while in New England! So I did my research and I gathered how expensive it is. Lots of choices in Boston, but I settled on Luke's Lobster because it has various locations in the city and I thought it'd make it flexible based on where we were. Also, I liked their Lobster Roll Flight because you can sample 3 half-rolls with 3 types of butter and it comes with chips and a drink, locally produced! Expensive at $40, but more manageable since you can get a tad more for your buck. Or so I thought. We came at this Back Bay location for a late lunch since we were near by exploring Newbury Street. Decor is casual with some faint Nautica theme, just a few customers. No lines. I went to order at the register. The guy who helped me seemed like a zombie - barely talking, the bare minimum, no smile, no details regarding my order. He never mentioned the chips, drink, just brought the order at the table. Fast, since the rolls use cold lobster, so it takes no time to make. I inquired about chips and the drink and he told me I can get it myself. That is fine, but why didn't he guide me before? I grabbed a Cape Cod bag and a nice local made blueberry lemonade from the fridge. I asked a girl working behind the counter to open the bottle and she pointed to a bottle opener small station. I don't mind grabbing my things, just pass me the information, take care of your customers, help them, guide them, be a nice host! Customer service is terrible here, they all behave like they don't want to be here and you just bother them by ordering. Some changes need to happen! The atmosphere is pretty lousy, dirty tables, loud music, didn't like the music, very unpleasant. We even changed tables because another patron (I guess since he had no food or drinks on the table) was watching videos loudly on his laptop at the table next by. No atmosphere, no care for customers. I felt like: shall I cook my lobster, too? I didn't convert into a lobster roll lover after this experience. I didn't taste the truffle butter, or the lemon butter much, kind of bland. The honey spicy was more spicy than honey. Chips didn't taste like vinegar, but the local lemonade was nice! And they never gave me a pickle. And I am a pickle lover! Which is unfair since that comes with the meal and after reading reviews here, other folks get it! Stay away! I regret not going somewhere else for a lobster roll. For the money they charge for barely any effort, they don't treat you nicely. Worst customer service! The worst meal I had in Boston! Sooo disappointing!!! One and done!
I've always wanted to try a lobster roll, and thanks to Luke's GF option, I finally got to! The roll comes with chips and a drink for just under $30. Service was a bit slow, but nothing too bad. We were also lucky to grab the last open table in the spot. The roll itself was pretty good. Good amount of garlic and butter, and a bit of a crunch. Gluten free only comes as a cold roll, which would not be my preference, though. Overall, I would recommend stopping by if you're gluten sensitive and hoping to try a lobster roll!

I came here for lunch during my last full day in Boston. The customer service here is superb. I was helped right away at the counter and was even given a free brownie once I mentioned I was in town for a birthday trip, eager to try my first lobster rolls. Totally wasn't expecting any kind of birthday discount or mini freebie, but the gesture was greatly appreciated. I've never been a big fan of the texture of shrimp, crab, nor lobster. But how can you visit the area and not try a lobster roll? For lunch, I got a cold quarter pound lobster roll accompanied by a bowl of clam chowder and a couple of pickles. The lobster was plump, fresh, and didn't taste too fishy - just quality lobster meat. My meal also came with chips and a drink of my choice. I even ended up getting a hot lobster roll and inhaled that later in the day because I enjoyed my first one so much. read more

Will probably fly back out to Boston just to get Luke's again!! 10/10 you definitely need to try the seafood roll flight. The lobster roll flight looked enticing, but we decided on the seafood for variety: shrimp, crab & lobster. 1st bite was insane, the bread was buttery, crunchy, and the seafood had a great taste. Comes with chips + drink + pickle slice. We chose the blueberry soda, which was delicious too & plain sea salt chips to prevent it from changing the flavor of the seafood. We left and came back after 2hrs to get the full crab roll they also have a stamp card so make sure to ask for it!! read more

Someone told me this was the best place for a lobster roll. After my disappointment from the other night I was hoping it was. Small place near the hotel. I don't know if they had the back door open or the AC on but I was freezing! Staff were young kids and were super friendly. I ordered the 6oz roll, hit with extra butter. If I knew they had a kids size, 2oz I think, I would have gotten that. It came with chips and a drink. They did not have fountain drinks and I think the drinks were local cause I'd never heard or seen any of the brands they had. I opted for Root Beer always a safe choice, I think. The roll was crisped just right and the lobster was nicely warmed. I wasn't too keen on the seasoning that was added but believe me I ate it lol. I would try it again. read more

Staff was super friendly and helpful. From the guy who took our order and shared his favorites to help us decide, to the woman making our rolls who went above and beyond. She overheard that my husband and I were sharing, so she cut everything in half and split our order onto two plates. Phenomenal service. The lobster roll was really good and the meat tasted super fresh. We got it "Luke's Way," served cold with mayo and a drizzle of hot butter, which was actually delicious. That said, I preferred the crab roll. I'll admit I might be biased since I grew up eating blue crab in Maryland all summer. It's definitely pricey for what it is, but you're in the middle of Boston ordering lobster, so it's pretty much what you'd expect. Would definitely recommend if you're in Back Bay looking for a quick bite and craving a lobster roll, but don't sleep on the crab roll! read more

One Lobster roll (6oz) and a small lobster bisque will set you back $50!!! I had to sneak it in one more time before we left, I told my family I was going shopping on Newbury, but I actually came here. I had my first lobster roll in the downtown crossing location and had to try this location too. Luke's is the only gluten free lobster roll I found, and it is the BEST fluffy buttery gluten free bread I've ever had. I think the downtown crossing GF bread was slightly better (it was the way it was buttered/prepared), but the lobster roll I had here was also 10/10. The lobster bisque was also 10/10. read more

came here to try the famous lobster roll flight! The flight is such a fun concept coming with three flavors - lemon butter, hot honey, and truffle. The buns were toasty and buttery and the lobster is served cold. I thought each were good, not the best I have ever had, and the stand out was definitely the hot honey. The sweet and savory combo combined with the little chili kick was delicious. Each roll in the flight was smaller than i expected - i think the three together were probably the size of one standard roll. Definitely a fun experience and cool to try lobster rolls with other flavors. Luke's is casual order at the counter and sit down place and has a cute fishermans aesthetic. Took an order to-go, pretty straightforward although it felt like everything was an extra charge... I mean, c'mon, $0.25 for a pickle? That should just go with the $30 crab roll or lobster roll with soup you just bought... honestly. Crab rolls are better. Clam chowder is excellent, nice and thick and creamy. Definitely a treat, but expensive for a day-to-day meal. Street parking outside, valet at the hotel across the street, or some parking lots (wasn't sure if public parking, but didn't look simple). read more

Great place for rolls. I like that Luke's sticks to just a few things. The rolls are expensive but I thought worth it. I feel like with some other places the bread doesn't go well with the lobster and everything but here it was actually a perfect combination of buttered bread and seafood. We stopped by here for dinner specifically to try the cold lobster rolls. We ordered their 6oz lobster roll and the lobster roll flight combos, which included a bag of chips and a choice of drink from their refrigerator. The rolls were decent, with sufficient dressing and butter, but the spicy lobster one was by far the best! The 6oz roll needed more seasoning. However, they were generous with the lobster meat, even on the 2oz flight rolls. A couple of downsides: 1) We weren't offered the pickle, and our receipt was printed with "no pickle" on our orders even though we weren't actually asked. For the total price we paid, a pickle would have been great. 2) There was limited seating in odd configurations. We found a 2-seat table by the window and laid down our menus, only for a student to take our table. We had no choice but to separate a small table from a 4-seat table, and as a result, were uncomfortably close to the family next to us. read more

On our last day in Boston, we went on a mission for lobster rolls--and Luke's Lobster absolutely delivered. Everything was incredibly fresh, and each roll was loaded with sweet, buttery lobster. A fun way to enjoy lobster rolls - Luke's Lobster was recommended by many people on my trip to Boston so I wanted to stop by. I was curious to try the crab rolls, which I loved MORE than the lobster roll! Ordered the lobster & crab roll Luke's way (mayo, butter, lemon) and it was perfectly seasoned - not too heavy on the flavors. The buttered roll was sooo delicious and make sure to dip in the clam chowder. Clam chowder is classic, with more potatoes than clams...but def order as part of the combo set. It's a fast casual type restaurant - you order and pick your chips/drink, servers were friendly and restaurant is chill and open! Lots of solo diners hopping in for lunch, and I enjoyed the solo experience! read more
