I've been taking my dogs to Shanderin Kennels for grooming for 9 years now. Maryann does a great job. The prices are reasonable and my dogs love her.

    HELLO!
    Chris W.

Shanderin Kennels was recommended to me by Colima Animal Hospital. Dr Sam is our family vet and has been taking care of my dogs for at least 10 years. He started with my two puppy frenchie bulldogs and my senior boxer. Every time my husband and I leave out of town for events, Shanderin Kennels is the only boarding day care I trust to leave my beloved pets at. I trust no one but Mary Ann, since I depend and rely on her to care for my frenchies and my pitbull. I have to say my dogs love her and appreciate her when they are at the kennel for the weekend. They know they get to play on the fun run and at least be inside watching TV inside. On another note, not only does Mary Ann and staff take care of the pets, this boarding kennel is very clean. I always see the guys washing down the floors, especially with disinfectant and soap. One of the major things I look at in placing my dogs in a kennel is number 1 if the person in charge is dependable, knowledgeable and reliable, and second, if the facility is clean. It meets and goes beyond my expectations. Mary Ann literally cares for all pets, probably not only my own, but gives attention to all dogs. Every time when I am away I get really cute photos of my pets at day care. They look like they are having a great time!

We get all of Buster's grooming needs handled here always. Super clean & well managed. MaryAnne is THE best & her love & care for animals immediately shines through. When we vacation, Buster also has extended stays in his own comfy room with daily walks & play time. We are very appreciative and grateful for MaryAnne!

Tink and Sunny were rescued from the shelter. Maryann groomed them and now they look like. They look amazing! I love Maryann!

I have never been so impressed with a boarding facility/doggy daycare. I believe Maryann is the shining force behind this business. She is amazing! She talks to you when she is busy. She is kind and professional and gives you her attention when you ask questions. She is an amazing groomer also. I will post just some of the grooms she has done for me. She cares about animals and I know she is caring for the pups I bring to her when I am not there. Sharderin gives back and helps rescue dogs also. How great is that?? Thank you Shanderin!!

I had my dog, dewey, stay here during the labor day weekend and I'm so happy with my decision to keep him here! Maryann was so helpful and informative about everything going on before I left and answered all of my worrying questions I had about leaving my dog here. Dewey was so well taken care of and her made sure he was happy and comfortable. She went the extra mile by easing my worry while I was on vacation by sending me pictures of Dewey and took him on walks everyday. I asked for both a bath and grooming on the last day and was very satisfied with the result. She listened to my request of keeping his amazing hair untouched! Will definitely be coming back for grooming and boarding needs!

    Nice room!

Got tired of relying on family to watch Truman while we are out of town, so decided to kennel him. Couldn't be more impressed with this place and Maryanne! She sent pictures and a video! I was very happy knowing he was in good hands. Maryanne seems very knowledgeable about dogs and what they need! Will definitely be taking Truman back to his new friend and home away from home! Thank you for everything!!!!

My baby girl on vacation!! Thank you Maryann for the great pictures. They helped ease my mind.

By far the best experience for my dog and for myself. On Saturday morning We were greeted with a very warm welcome by Maryann. The environment was warm and welcoming which made it a lot easier for me. I suffer from separation anxiety and leaving my dog the very first time was a major hurdle for me. I was assured that she would be fine and she was. Maryann sent pictures and videos throughout the day reassuring me she was fine. This experience will definitely be one for the books. I will be returning that's for sure. Thank you again for great customer service and taking care of my baby girl.

As he settled in my home, he became increasingly aggressive towards other people -- friends, family, and strangers alike, whether in the home or outside of the home. Sully was even aggressive towards my husband, and it felt like I was at a loss. I needed to do something before he actually ended up hurting someone. After explaining what was happening with Sully with the organization I was fostering from, they said they would need to put him down for the safety of the community. I couldn't let that happen, so I decided to keep him and find professional help. This is where John came in. After doing research online, I came across his Yelp page, where there were raving reviews of him helping aggressive dogs, so I took a chance. On his first day meeting John, Sully growled, hissed, and lunged at John. Sully tried to bite both him and me. John spent about an hour with me explaining what was going to happen and some training basics, and honestly, it was hard for me to focus because I was so nervous of Sully hurting someone in the moment. John was very patient, and showed me 5x how to hold a leash properly because I just couldn't focus from nervousness. I've never seen Sully so aggressive, and John explained it's because it was the first time someone was checking him and keeping him in his place. Sully stayed with John for a little over two weeks, and in that time, they went on ADVENTURES. I mentioned to John that Sully was afraid of water, aggressive with strangers, and other very specific things, and John made sure to tackle all of them. He sent me pictures and videos of his adventures throughout their time together. They went on a ferry, hiked to a waterfall, and so so much more. When there was a concern or something to celebrate, John was sure to communicate with us what was going on. In addition, due to personal circumstances, we needed to have Sully stay with John a few more days, and John was so understanding and accommodated us. I finally have my sweet boy back, and I see so much of a difference. He is calmer, more responsive, and he's running through my sprinklers now. LOL. It still takes him a bit to warm up to other people, but he's not as on guard or on edge as he was before. I'm excited to continue his progress at home, and I'm sure we will see John and Sara for future stays! Here are just a few of my favorite pictures of his adventures with John and Sara. :)

I had previously tried Board and Train programs at Sit Means Sit twice, but they didn't help with KB's anxiety at all. Tony was a completely different experience. What sets Tony apart is how thorough he is. He didn't just give commands; he constantly explained the "why" behind KB's behaviors. He was also incredibly supportive of me, helping me work through my own fears and nervousness. Because of his guidance, I can now actually play box with KB without the fear that he'll suddenly react toward me. We covered so much ground, including: * Command & Muzzle Work: Building a foundation of safety and communication. * Boundaries: KB used to be glued to my side whenever I answered the door. Now, he can stay calmly on the couch while I greet someone, and he stays indoors even when I go through the patio door. * Safety & Care: Tony was always so accommodating with scheduling. If it was too hot for an outdoor session, he would proactively suggest changing it for KB's safety. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed with your dog's behavior, go to Tony. He turned everything around for us, and I'm so grateful for the confidence he's given both me and KB.

Overnight boarding: you get a full webcam access to their suite whenever your pet is in there. The big dog area looks very spacious and the staff told me my dog LOVED the bath they gave afterwards. My dog is currently struggling to keep her eyes open after picking her up from boarding, so that's a great sign. My only gripe is the option for a bath doesn't come with a brush out or anything. Not even as an add on service. It's literally just a bath and they dry your dog in a kennel dryer. But for $30 on top of boarding, I'll take that bath option any day of the week and brush my dog at home.

After a previous negative experience, my fiancé and I waited several months before bringing our…read moredog, Posie, back to daycare. We decided to give this facility another chance because she genuinely loves playing with other dogs, and daycare seemed very different from overnight boarding. Before returning, we made it very clear to staff that because of our previous experience, we wanted to be contacted immediately about any issues involving Posie, no matter how minor. Staff assured us they would communicate with us, and based on those conversations, we felt comfortable trying daycare again. We had a few uneventful visits, but our most recent experience raised serious concerns and brought back many of the same issues we experienced before. We dropped Posie off around 2:30 PM for Day Camp. Around 3:55 PM, I checked the daycare cameras and noticed that she was nowhere to be found in the large playgroup area that we had paid for. Concerned, we contacted the facility to ask where she was. Initially, we were told that Posie had been placed in a holding area while staff handled transfers and departures. Later, a supervisor called us and explained that because Posie is "rambunctious," she had been separated into holding crates while staff completed other responsibilities. During the conversation, he stated that she had been there since arrival. This was frustrating because it meant our dog had spent a significant portion of her daycare visit separated from the group without our knowledge. Had this been communicated to us, we could have made an informed decision about whether daycare was the right fit that day. What was particularly concerning was that it appeared Posie's situation was only addressed after we noticed she was missing from the cameras and contacted the facility ourselves. While we were still on the phone with staff, we observed Posie being brought back into the play area on a leash. This left us wondering whether she would have remained in the holding area even longer had we not checked the cameras and called. When I expressed concern about how long Posie had been confined, the supervisor focused on correcting my estimate, explaining that because her drop-off was at 2:30 PM, she had "technically" only been there for about 90 minutes. The issue was never whether it was 90 minutes or two hours. The issue was that our dog had spent a significant portion of the daycare session separated from the activities we were paying for without any communication to us. What made the explanation confusing was that Posie has attended daycare here multiple times, and staff had always given us positive feedback about her interactions with other dogs. We had never been told she was disruptive, difficult to manage, or unable to participate in daycare. The first time her behavior was presented as a concern was after we discovered she had been separated from group play, which left us confused by the sudden change in messaging. Another part of the conversation that left me frustrated was when the supervisor told us that it seemed the facility was unable to meet our needs and suggested that perhaps this was not the right place for our dog. We had not yet spoken with management, nor had anyone attempted to address the concerns we were raising before suggesting that we take our business elsewhere. This also brought back concerns from a previous daycare visit. On that occasion, Posie came home with a wound on her leg that our veterinarian indicated was consistent with a bite or tooth abrasion from another dog. Thankfully it was not severe, but the skin was punctured and required monitoring. We were never contacted about the injury, and when we asked staff about it afterward, we were told there was no report of any incident occurring. That previous experience was one of the main reasons we stopped bringing Posie here for several months. We eventually decided to give the facility another chance because she enjoys socializing with other dogs and hoped the prior incident was isolated. Unfortunately, after this most recent experience, many of the same concerns resurfaced. Another concern is the overall level of supervision during busy periods. During our recent phone call, staff repeatedly described the environment as chaotic and explained that they were managing multiple responsibilities at once. As a customer, that left me wondering whether there are enough staff members available to supervise the number of dogs present while simultaneously handling transfers, cleaning, pickups, and other duties. Finally, during the last two daycare visits, Posie was returned to us completely soaked and smelling strongly of urine. We were told that staff regularly clean and mop the play areas, but both times we felt the need to bathe her immediately upon arriving home because of the odor. I am currently waiting to speak with management and hope these concerns are taken seriously.

The facility itself is very well equipped, with more than 100 rooms. They also have separate isolation rooms in case a dog gets sick, which helps prevent illnesses from spreading to other dogs. I thought that was a huge plus. All new dogs are required to provide vaccination records, and they also do about a 20-minute temperament assessment before joining. Based on each dog's personality, they arrange suitable playgroups instead of just mixing all the dogs together. The staff are also very professional and attentive.
