We go to Vero Beach every summer and have been struggling to find a go-to Chinese takeout place. Well the search is over! Tipoff #1 we had found a good match: they have big jars of homemade chili oil on the counter to purchase. Score! The food was all delicious. The shrimp spring rolls, shrimp balls, the pork dumplings, the congee with thousand year eggs, mapo tofu, mu shu... seriously it was all good. The server came over to take our orders. Appetizers were brought out to the table before drinks arrived. Then when our main entrees were served, we still had no drinks, and had to ask again for our drinks. Another worker came by the table and somewhat tossed/slid silverware wrapped in cloth napkins onto the table. The spring rolls were small and tasted like they came out of a frozen box. One party at our table said the chicken Chow mein was pretty good, however lacked much chicken. Another person at the table had the seafood Lo mein dish, and it came with only 3 shrimp and 2 scallops for $17.95. It was nothing more than a big plate of noodles. The "pan fried" pork dumplings were deep fried, very greasy and did not taste fresh. We guessed they had been prepared/fried way in advance. The Chinese Russian soup was sickeningly sweet--the sugary beef broth lost its appeal after a few slurps. The recommended Singapore noodles were ok (no roast pork, no crispyness to noodles, more spaghetti-like than rice vermicelli), but nowhere near the quality of what you'd expect from any hole-in-the-wall Chinese take-out restaurant in the Northeast. This might be considered good Chinese for Florida, but we won't be back. Service was friendly and Atmosphere was nice. read more

The food we ordered overall is Just average. Beef with broccoli - the beef was a bit fatty and tasteless, and the broccoli undercooked. The food here is typical Chinese American, nothing special. Prices aren't the best. Food is average. I was there to pick up food and while at the register, the owner was training a new employee, he was bold enough to stare to the employee in front of me that if any customers call and ask for the manager, that he was not there at the moment..... I've ate here three times. It's a gamble on the food quality. The service is great though. Each time something tastes a bit off in one of our three meals that we order. This last time the chicken tasted so odd that the waiter even knew it was a problem yet still served us it probably due to the owner making him. We said something and he discounted the meal, but we shouldn't have to be concerned over reheated and freezer burnt chicken. We love coming to Vero Beach to escape the craziness of Miami. We also love coming to Shandong when we're in Vero. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant, in a strip mall. There's maybe ten or so tables in there and is a family run establishment. We have been here several times and always order a variety of soups, appetizers, and entrees. I ordered the egg drop soup ($4). Egg drop was a little watery with no flavor. I had to add pepper and soy sauce to get flavor to it. For appetizers we ordered shrimp balls (which were amazing!) and pork dumplings (great but not as great as shrimp balls). For the entrees we ordered the chicken green beans, very tasty, along with the Young Chow Fried Rice. Both were very good, but not the best I've ever had. Entrees averaged around $14 each. They have a selection of beer and wine, wine is a good pour for about $5 a glass. Service is very good too. I recommend stopping by if you are in the Vero area and want Chinese restaurant. read more

We just got dinner from here in honor of Chinese New Year (Happy Year of the Ox, y'all!), and I want to give special props for the authentic Shandong dumplings! Unlike most other regions, dumplings in this area of China are boiled, not fried or steamed. We tried every kind-- the pork, shrimp and chive were my personal favorite! The "Chinese Russian Soup" was also a first for me-- interesting. The "Chicken Corn Soup" is mainly egg drop with corn in it, a variety I have seen some other places. Kid #1 quite liked the Beef Lo Mein, and Mom liked the General Tso's. The Shrimp with Rice Noodles was also a hit, though the crab rangoon, not so much. We ate while watching a movie, so no photos- sorry! Overall: good food with good service at a very reasonable price. Shandong Noodle House is my new Vero Beach favorite for Chinese food. Having tried several other places in the local area, I came across Shandong while making a pit stop at the Verizon Wireless store in the same shopping center. Curry chicken with fried rice and Russian soup - yes, you've found my Russian connection now - I added a spring roll for $1.00 more. Soup was an instant favorite and I enjoyed the other dishes as well. Clean, but small, restaurant on Miracle Mile, just west of Indian River Boulevard. I get the feeling that at the normal lunch or dinner time, this place is packed. It was busy when I arrived for a late lunch just before 3 p.m. Friendly wait staff and clean restrooms. Shandong Noodle House is closed on Tuesday. Please make a note of that before you make the drive. A large take out menu and many specials - including several family dinner specials - are available. Some of the worst chinese food I ever had I ordered shrimp with vegetables for 12.95. I got 5 medium shrimp with over cooked broccoli and bok choy I'm a brown sauce. That is supposed to go with beef. I ate here on a whim about a week ago. Their menu is very decently priced and they also had a variety of early dinner specials. I went with the recommendations to get the Chinese Russian soup. It was very tasty and full of flavor. For my meal I had the rice noodles with shrimp which was exactly what I had hoped for. I ended up trading with my brother though because he was not a fan of the udon soup he ordered. I could for sure see why. The texture of the noodles was unlike any udon I have had before. It was a bit hard for me to stomach the meal as the mushy, overcooked noodles were quite unappealing. Overall the meal was alright, just wish I had traded the udon for something else. And, Yes I've tried all the others. My only complaint is that the portions are a bit small but the quality of the food makes up for that by far. Everything was very fresh and full flavorful. I had the Chinese Russian soup a spring roll and the curry beef for a late lunch and immediately I noticed that the vegetables were super fresh, the soup broth was not heavy but full of flavor and the Beef curry had a well seasoned sauce with tender pieces of beef. The restaurant was packed and that's always a good sign especially for the time I entered this place. I've been to this place twice and I love everything! It's a must try for people who love Chinese food that's not greasy. The service is very nice. There's a TV in the front playing food network, and they have Chinese music in the background. The menu offers a large selection of Chinese dishes. I really love the noodles and dumplings.
