I am in the middle of dealing with Shane Co and my engagement ring. What should be so exciting and happy has been nothing but a stressful experience. And in the process being treated like I don't matter. Seems like once you purchase your jewelry they throw you to the side. Here's the story: my fiancé proposed to me, we noticed a baguette on one side was cloudy looking and didn't match the other side. We took the ring back up and the jeweler confirmed the facets were cut differently on each baguette and I could get a new setting. After a few days of thinking about it we decided to get the new setting since it was within 60 days and this is a $2,000 setting so we want it perfect. So, I went back up to do this and was told by Jeremiah "Well that was a one time offer since we had the same setting in stock" What? I'm within 60 days. It wasn't until my friend who went with me said "She is within 60 days correct? And could actually return it for a refund?" After that, he got nicer. They said my ring would be ready in 5 days. On day of pick up my fiancé went and got the ring. Brought it home and we noticed the prongs sat really high and weren't sanded down. As we held the ring up to look at it, the center stone was completely crooked and one side of the prongs were higher and diamond leaned to one side. And the basket it sits in was a little turned. Are you kidding me that this was overlooked by the jeweler? So my fiancé called them and we drove 30 min back up there and we told the sales lady Peyton our issue. She took it to jeweler and they sanded prongs down. Great, basket still crooked and higher on one side. Peyton basically said that I am in the minority of people super picky and as long as it looks good from the top it should be a big deal and that if they work on it, it could weaken the metal. Wow! So at their mistake I'm told that my setting won't be as strong if they fix the mistake? I can't even believe the ring was given to us in that condition. So, once again we left the ring to be fixed. My fiancé called the salesperson Heather he initially worked with at beginning and told her all of this and she acted concerned and disappointed and said she would give him a call back later in the day after she checked on some things. Once again NO-ONE called back. It's so frustrating. Every time we call no one return our call. This was the last chance, we decided it was time to return it and go get our center stone. We will be getting a refund and going elsewhere with better customer service and quality. It's been nothing but anxiety and being treated poorly each time. I wouldn't recommend this company. Maybe a local jeweler would be better. I hope this review helps others avoid this type of experience. read more

Well, it was that time in my life when it was time to get an engagement ring for my girlfriend; I had been browsing rings since about a year ago when I went into Shane Company in St. Louis, MO at their previous location in Brentwood. At that time, a sales associate named Jamie Woodson helped me browse the ring selection with no pressure and no obligation. A year later, when I began to look more seriously, I returned to the new location and Jamie recognized me when I came in after all that time! This time I was a little more aware of what I wanted (although I actually picked the same band that I had casually chosen a year prior). I spent about four hours just looking at diamonds alone. I never felt any pressure to look at anything I didn't like; I told her my budget and what I was looking for and she never tried to sell me anything that didn't fit that criteria. Throughout the whole process, Jamie was exceptionally patient and brought out everything I wanted to consider, all while making the whole experience fun. I just picked up my ring yesterday and I am absolutely thrilled with it; the quality of the setting and diamond is excellent. When I picked up my ring, Jamie was so excited to see it, I really felt like I had shopped with a friend instead of a saleswoman. Me and my fiance searched for something special for a very long time for our upcoming wedding. The sales person was nice enough. We ended up settling on a ring that I was OK with. We found better service and prices down the street at their competitor with the correct color stone and correct setting. When we went to cancel the ring at shane co the woman who helped us was kind of rude and didn't even offer to try and keep our business. Shane Co was the last jewelry store we went to in searching for my engagement ring. I did not have a specific style of ring in mind, just a general idea. I knew I wanted a sapphire as center stone and that I wanted to feel a gut reaction when I saw the perfect ring. We were greeted as soon as we walked into the showroom by two salesmen. Michael immediately came over to us and introduced himself then offered us bottled water while we looked around. I showed him a picture of a ring from their website and he pulled out a few other rings I liked for us to look at while he found that particular one. When he did find it, I had an immediate ''this is my ring'' gut clench. I tried it on and was absolutely perfect. At other stores I always got strange looks when I told them I wanted a sapphire as a center stone. Michael just nodded and said '' Of course. That will be beautiful.'' He did not try to convince us to go with a diamond because it is more 'traditional' or expensive. I initially thought I would want a princess cut stone and he brought one out along with a cushion cut, which he said might look better in that particular setting. And he was absolutely correct. Bottom line, I found my dream ring at an extremely reasonable price with free appraisal and lifetime maintenance. And amazing customer service. Thank you Shane Co and especially Michael. I bought a ring from the St. Louis store in March 30, 2015. I bought a 1.5 ct emerald cut diamond in a beautiful setting. The setting did not come with a head for an emerald cut diamond and a new head had to be placed on the ring and upon completion, it was shipped to me. On November 6, 2015, I went to dinner and a show with a good friend who was in town to visit. At dinner, she remarked about how beautiful my ring was. At breakfast the next morning, she noticed the diamond was missing. I spent the entire day looking for it. Upon initially noticing the diamond was gone and after looking throughout my house, I called the Shane Co in St. Louis and spoke with a manager. The first question she asked me was if the diamond was insured. I told her I was looking at the Lifetime Warranty and didn't understand why she would ask me that question. She said, this is no cheap diamond, when she looked up my profile. I said, no, it's not! I asked her what the next step was and she informed me to get a police report filed, which I did. Then I made an appointment to come into the store. When I arrived the gentleman who originally sold me the ring took me into a side room. He looked at the ring through a loop, said he needed to clean it and left me in the room for 15 minutes. When he came back, he said he had a couple of questions for me and asked if I slept in the ring. I said, yes, I do. He said, "Oh, that's a no-no. We don't know what we do with our hands while we're sleeping. I'm afraid you're going to have to file a claim with your insurance company." Nowhere in the description of Shane Co.'s lifetime warranty does it say not to sleep in it. It mentions garbage disposal mishaps and run-ins with tires in the driveway online, but nowhere in the documentation I received or in the sales pitch did anyone mention not to sleep in the ring. Who takes their engagement ring off at night? This was a huge shock to me. He said he didn't want me to leave mad, so he left me in the room again and came back with 2 emerald cut diamonds, one slightly smaller and one slightly larger than my original, but both were graded lower than my original diamond. He said it was against company policy to do this, but he didn't want me to leave upset, so he was going to go out of policy and replace my diamond. I said I couldn't believe he was saying that given the supposed lifetime guarantee/warranty, and I was not going to settle for something of less quality than my original. So after some time, upset and back and forth, he eventually found a diamond that had to be shipped to the St Louis location and they wanted to put a new head on my diamond and to sit the diamond deeper into the ring to lower the height. I was there for over an hour and the entire situation from the original loss of the diamond to having to renegotiate and fight for a diamond of equal quality put a horrible taste in my mouth regarding Shane Co. While in the end, I was offered a diamond that is supposedly of greater quality, the path to getting there was fraught with upset, upheaval and disbelief. Had the effort been made to make it right from the get go, I'd be singing Shane Co.'s praises, but instead I am deeply disturbed by what appears to be a blatant attempt to shirk their guarantee and lifetime warranty to put that off on me and my insurance company. How does a supposed $11,000 diamond fall out of a platinum ring within the first 7 months of ownership? And how does the loss of the diamond boil down to sleeping in it? I certainly did not abuse the ring or wear it differently than normal wear. While they eventually circled back and replaced the diamond, I have a very jaded perspective of Shane Co., and I certainly will not recommend anyone purchase jewelry from them given the way they treated me. I am surprised by how short sighted this tacit customer service policy is on their part. Whatever they would have saved by trying to force me to turn it into my insurance, doesn't compare to the business they lost in the long run. They went from having a loyal customer, to one who doesn't trust ShaneCo. whatsoever. To top it off, the "improved" ring was supposed to have been delivered to me by 10:30 am this morning, and it has not shown up yet at 3:30pm. Extremely disappointed! read more

Went in to ask about jewelry repair today. Store was busy with sales customers but Jeremiah assisted right away. The repair was completed while I waited. The staff was buzzing around helping people but very friendly to me and apparently also to others. I enjoyed looking at all the beautiful things while my jewelry was fixed. I have been meaning to write a review for some time but felt compelled to after yesterday. I also found the store to be great and so are the employees (been a long time shopper). I was just there on Halloween and they even had a "costume" theme going on. They were clearly having fun but yet still professional. I am amazed at this store and their people every time I go there (even in the new location) and it wasn't crazy busy on Halloween like it has been on other days in the past. I would agree that they work within what they carry in the store but I found that to be much better than people trying to be everything to everybody. Do what you do better than everyone else and you will be successful in life. If you are looking for a diamond, pearl, sapphire, or ruby it definitely the place to go. If you can't find something along those categories then you are looking for something too specific and will have to have it specifically made for you as they don't allow you to design your ring from a drawing. However, you will find that the places that do are terribly overpriced (and a bit rude about it). They also will work on items that didn't come from them and are fair, overall, about the price they charge. However, they wouldn't work on a ring my grandfather gave to me (they said that they weren't comfortable doing the work since the ring was so worn) so I took it to another jeweler. I guess that I should have stopped after Shane as the other place basically ruined the ring. Again...do what you do better than anyone else. I was glad that they didn't work on the ring as I wouldn't have gone back to them again just like I'm not going back to the other jeweler (though they advertise heavily). I was originally miffed that they wouldn't work on it but clearly they knew what they could and couldn't do so my hats off to them! I am looking forward to getting my wife her Christmas present there this year as I went with a non jewelry item last year as I couldn't bring myself to battle the Christmas traffic again at their old location. Our plan was to to go Shane Co. so I could try on different styles of engagement rings because I had zero idea what I wanted. Once I had some clue, we were going to shop around for the best quality and price elsewhere. We went through the door about 6:45 and were paying for the ring by about 8 so that plan clearly went out the window fast. Diana helped me find my dream ring; I fell in love with it the second I put it on, then she helped us pick out the perfect center stone. The fact that the sales staff does not make commission was so apparent. Diana was really interested in what I liked, not what cost the most. My style is quite understated and I ended up getting a ring that is smaller than I originally anticipated (because you have no clue until it is actually on your hand) and again - absolutely no pressure from Diana to choose something more expensive. So, overall great customer service, a good price, and a very high quality product is what we got. I must admit, I had a preconceived notion about a chain store, I thought the jewelry might be a bit cheap but I was wrong. Also, I took it in to be resized a couple of months later and again - exceptional customer service. They take care of their customers even after the sale. read more

I was so excited to visit Shane Co. to get an idea of engagement ring styles and see what I liked/didn't like. They made it very clear at the beginning of the appointment that, due to COVID, the appointments were limited to one hour and if you realized you wanted to see a ring in a case you already passed, you couldn't walk back to that case, you would have to go around the whole display of cases again. The appointment started out with the salesperson essentially telling me to limit the number of rings I wanted to try on due to their new sanitation rules. Ok - understood...but if I've never tried on engagement rings before, I would hope they would be willing to let me get an idea of multiple styles. I also asked to try on wedding bands because if my soon to be fiancé is going to spend thousands on a ring, I would like to be sure bands look good with it. The salesperson told me this visit was to focus on engagement rings and not wedding bands. I was also asked to "eliminate" rings so I wouldn't have a lot to choose from at the end. This ended up with me ruling out two styles I loved because I thought I liked two other ones better. While there, one couple held up three cases that we did not get to see. They backtracked to another case AND were there before and after us. I guess the rules only apply to people willing to commit that day. All in all, it was a super disappointing and disheartening first time looking at rings and going to Shane Co. I will not be back, as they have done nothing to show they valued me as a potential customer. read more

We were looking to get a setting for a diamond that my fiancee's grandmother had left to him, and after trying for 6 frustrating weeks to buy a ring at Kay Jewelers, we decided to try Shane Co. We were able to look around at the different cases for a few minutes before being approached by a salesperson. And Edgar was wonderful! He polished our diamond for us, gave us the correct carat weight, and showed us some interesting features of our older diamond. He was very patient, showing me a variety of styles to find out what I liked, and gently placing our stone in the settings so I could see what the finished ring would look like. Went shopping for engagement rings and I had an amazing experience at the Shane Co. Olivette location! They were recommended to me over the other brand names. From the second I stepped in the door, not once did I feel as though my time or money was not important to these folks. The first person to greet me was Taylor F. Great guy, positive attitude, not pushy and very professional. He walked me through the process of how a diamond is graded. The personal touch and respect that he showed me as a customer while looking at settings made my decision to purchase from them an easy one. He found me the exact ring that I had in my head almost immediately, not to mention, at a price less than half of the place I had previously visited. From there he directed me to Paitan H. She was kind, knowledgeable, and very patient with all of my questions. She was confident in what she had to tell me and didn't talk down any competitors, which proved to me that she had confidence in Shane Co.'s items. I gave her my price range and she brought out an assortment of diamonds that fit my criteria and were within my budget. She never once pushed anything on me to purchase, she provided me insight on each diamond and gave me the facts, not opinions. She absolutely understood how important it was to me to find the right diamond and didn't bat an eye at my many questions. We found that perfect diamond and the next day I called and placed a down payment with Sabrina (very kind) over the phone and they began the setting process. Other places I had looked at stated that the time between the purchase and setting could be up to six weeks. These guys did it in four days and it was ready to go. Doug was the jeweler who put the diamond in the setting, and he did an absolute fantastic job, so hats off to him. All in all, everyone that I spoke with was genuine and kind, respectful and knowledgeable, professional and just as excited for me to propose as I was. They made the process so simple and seamless and I felt valued and respected. Most importantly, I left feeling that my money was well spent and that it would be a ring that my fiancé will treasure till we are old and gray. I will definitely shop with them again. My fiancé went there for my engagement ring and had a fabulous experience (the only good experience from a jeweler) with Amy. We bought a beautiful ring, but had very particular requests to personalize it -- we had 2/3rds of the diamonds replaced with sapphires and rubies at no extra charge. In fact, when we realized that the stones we chose wouldn't fit our requirements, our associate gave us a great deal on something even better that still matched our budget. He even got us the ring in three months, when every estimate I've had on it said six to eight.
