    Loaded Homefries

We originally tried to go to Tom's nearby but didn't have enough cash on us, so we came to Shane's instead because they accept credit cards. It was not too busy at 10am on a Sunday, but it filled up by the time we left. The place is bigger than you'd think because they also have tables downstairs. I ordered a strawberry lemonade and the Loaded home fries with turkey bacon. The strawberry lemonade was really good- just the right balance of sweet and tart for me. The loaded home fries were seasoned well, but not as 'loaded' as I hoped. I was expecting a little more egg and bacon than what was there. It came in a small but deep bowl, which made it hard for me to mix the components together without making a mess. I would come back to Shane's but try something else next time, maybe the fried chicken.

We met one of A's friends, who lives in Brooklyn, for brunch at Shane's. It's a tiny restaurant. When I first entered I wasn't sure I was going to feel comfortable there. I have this whole mental malfunction about being in the way, or my wheelchair taking up too much space. (Thanks, family!) But once the staff figured out how to open the double doors so I could get into the dining room everything was fine. We visited Shane's on our second day in the city and were, unfortunately, running low on funds (the hotel hit us with an unexpected $200 security deposit when we checked in), so I just had a coffee, which was delicious. That's saying a lot because I just realized that I don't like most coffee. At home I use flavored creamers, and still end up pouring most of it out, so I stopped drinking it. Shane's coffee was delicious with sugar and cream. Jeremy had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich which was very good. And also probably the cheapest item on the menu at $8. We split the check, and the rest of our party had more extravagant meals and cocktails, which they all seemed to enjoy. We found it odd that even though we split the check, it still came on one bill. I've never seen that before, and it caused us some confusion. We had a great time. The staff was pleasant. I was surprised that there weren't any bagels on the menu though.

They were able to accommodate a party of 13 on the whim just like that. Loved that . Customer service A plus. Everyone was so polite smiled and warm. Our serve was awesome. We did the 50 dollar unlimited Mimosa and I had the strawberry flavor. It was delicious. I loved that you can mix and match. I ordered chicken and waffles as the menu was limited with the unlimited mimosas. It was a lot of food. The food was good and fresh. I tasted someone's home fries. Best home fries I've ever had. Area was clean. Close to train station and bus.

This is my second time here and I always forget to review it. Cozy family friendly spot with great prices. I didn't get the best picture but the food was good! Hot and fresh. Me and a friend did the $50 unlimited mimosas and entree for one hour. We had pineapple, mango and strawberry. You will feel it so be careful lol It can get pretty busy so get there early in, before 12. Service is friendly and I always enjoy their music.

This is the "after Eid prayer" spot. My sisters and I have been going here for awhile. I love that they have beef bacon. It's definitely a neighborhood staple. There's often a wait to sit. The space is cute but I go there for the eats. The staff is friendly. My meal was good. One of my sisters had the fried chicken was a bit salty. I personally can't speak to it because I'm funny with fried chicken and don't eat everyone's. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to some more French toast and beef bacon and a nice sorrel.

3.5 star rating..... The phone nor the website to make a reservation was working. Inefficient..... 20 min wait when we arrived for brunch. Not unreasonable but annoying nonetheless. Although an A grade, the place needs to be renovated and a deep cleaning. Esthetically it is lacking big time. The service was slow and inattentive. Asked if they could sell the drink special in a pitcher (like all the other mimosas). Instead of coming back and stating they could not and we would have picked a different drink that does come in a pitcher they just came back with the drink specials without giving us the opportunity to confirm our drink order. Our food and drinks were served AFTER others who arrived after us. They need more staff and need to polish up the entire service and esthetics. Having to pull up to a window to even ask for a table and deal with an apathetic hostess was also off putting. Having said all of that, the food is a solid 3.5 maybe even 4 star.

Now I don't know why I have never done a Shane's review before but here it issss!!! I have been to Shane's in the past but decided to come back for lunch and they are still on point food is always amazing. Service is fast and attentive. Warm home like feeling establishment. Went on a Wednesday around 12pm brunch menu!!! Always a yes for me $50 per person bottomless and good music definitely will return. Didn't get pictures of the mimosas but the grapefruit and passion fruit are my favorites thank me later.

I don't know why this place reviews are under 4 stars ... but you need to go and try. Normally I skip under 4 star places but I was recommended this place by someone who almost goes every weekend. I'm glad I gave it a try. Get yourself those lemon poppy seed pancakes !!! If I could have it again I would. The fried chicken was also really good and flavorful. Honestly I tried everyone's food at my table lol and it was amazing. Service was great , the people are nice and they kept coming around to check on you right on time. I love the ambiance here. It gave off very comfy which I always appreciate. The music was on point. Old school r&b when I went and I loved that. Overall give it a shot

After not patronizing since four years ago, & them forgetting my utensils then even though I selected the option for utensils, I decide to order on Uber eats & call the restaurant and ask for them to put the utensils in with the condiments just like I'm at their restaurant eating sitting down. Yes, I need syrup, butter, napkins, fork, knife, AnyWho I called the restaurant the lady like oh you have to select the option ASSuming I didn't select the option and black businesses it never occurs to them. The customer is always right just Give me the condiments & utensils & go about your day. They always have to have the last word so to me it depends on the service I get plus the waffles were trash they taste like cake I like Roscoes chicken and waffles. I'm from LA and Roscoe's got chicken & waffles locked they again forgot my knife and fork. The utensils I called for they gave me the butter and the syrup Tho The chicken taste like crown chicken, but it was decent. Also one Sunday walking with a friend we wanted to try the brunch so we asked one of the outside waitress whats the brunch special she looked clueless, even though she worked at the same restaurant she just worked outside. She told me to go ask again on the inside? Like what you work here & you don't know what the special is on a Sunday so that's why they lost my business if you have a sense of entitlement because you're a black business, get your stuff together and be on point with all your employees cause service & good food is where it counts .. Not coming back or patronizing again.

    Chicken and Waffles

A black owned business, this is one I can appreciate and enjoy because the food is authentic and tastes delicious, from the first bite to the last bite. Look no further if you want some Harlem-style soul food. Nice sized portions, and I will say it again, the food is absolutely delicious. The chicken and waffles are a great place to start. First off, the chicken fry is fabulous and it starts burning off your fingers immediately. That is a great sign of a good fry. Not only that, but it has great seasoning and spice. The chicken itself is moist and has great flavor. Oh yeah, get dark meat. I did. That works best with this waffle. The waffle is great too, but it is a little too sweet. I ate this meal so fast to almost forgot to mention it. Two hunky pieces of chicken and four sweet triangles of tasty goodness and this is a solid brunch spot. Everybody is so nice. The wait staff, to the busboys, to the customers asking what you think of the food. It might be a small restaurant, but it works well being that it knows what it is and does not try to be anything more. To prevent fraud, they do ask for ID if you pay with a credit card. This was nothing more than what you would do at a bar. Do not read into the check too seriously. I would return for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

I always wanted to try chicken and waffles but always thought the combination would be very weird. Well, Shane's changed my mind. The cinnamon waffles are BOMB and the fried chicken is very seasoned. The mimosa aren't worth it to me. It was my first time trying it and it was a 6/10. Only downside the size of the place is very small. It's no privacy to speak or even move around if need be. Other than that Shane's will always be my spot to get chicken and waffles 1000/10 Btw- perfect place to carry out food comes pipping hot. A lot of food for the price.

What a hidden gem. Looking for a quick, good breakfast in Brooklyn we were routed to Shanes. We started off as the only guests there that morning but the teeny upstairs of the restaurant with only 6-7 tables quickly filled up. The food was good and plentiful although we were all confused as to why a side salad automatically came with an early morning breakfast. While I love me a salad, I prefer it later on in the day. The breakfast burrito was huge, the home fries were crisp and well seasoned and the mimosas were strong. Shanes was definitely a good Brooklyn choice!

The Asparagus & Spring Pea Quiche was hearty, savory and golden crusted perfection. But the star? The French Toast, sitting in a warm maple sauce topped with a cloud of cream. Had a welcoming and upbeat server, but the service was general slower and not rushed, 2.5hr for our meal. I was excited as the dishes sounded unique and promising but a lot of them fell short: The egg tonnato didn't have much flavor, the herb oil only adding a slightly grassy taste. I was excited for the hiramasa crudo, but it was bland and one note, even the mild pomelo overpowered the fish because of how little flavor. Fried anchovies were tasty and paired well with sage but the portion is so small for the price. What went well: sea bass was very well cooked, very soft, flaky, well flavored. Was under salted but I could add that myself. The pork was also well cooked, tender, generous portion of meat that paired well with the cherry. We finished off with the burnt caramel tart, which had a good flavor although the texture was on the softer side. I don't think the creme fraise really complemented it, but still tasty. There were some good dishes and Sailor is a vibe, but the price point and what we received I'm not sure if I'd return for a meal.

We were, however, a bit disappointed over recent times that they pulled back from their original plan and stated mission of including the service charge in the cost--it both seemed worker forward and made the cost seem more reasonable, with service charge built into the fixed price. Now the cost seems like any other nice restaurant--far above and beyond the printed menu price. Don't get me wrong, it is exceptional dinner and still well worth it, but a mental adjustment. Their rotating dinner menu (fixed menu, now 3 and 5 course options for different price points) is a brilliant move, meaning you can find something seasonal and new and inventive every couple of weeks. We can't afford to come every two weeks, but we do look forward to the new menu release every two weeks to judge our level of temptation. I'd also note that they apply their same model to breakfast--it is slow service, without bar service as far as we could tell. It was dinner speed at a more bustling brunch time. The food was still stellar--delicious sourdough breakfast sandwich and fabulous spiced pumpkin waffle (even if I had to fight for the advertised maple syrup)--but the service painfully slow. It works over a four course dinner with cocktails, but feels a bit more interminable as you stare at your number for breakfast for 30+ minutes--I think they need to adjust their approach here. Overall we are so grateful to have this gem in our neighborhood--fabulous food, great service... truly some of the best food and service in a neighborhood lacking great options for both. I know we are all feeling tariffs and inflation and cost of living, but the pricing approach/change has moved it from a "let's see the new menu every two weeks" to a more occasional splurge, and I'd be wary of the breakfast/brunch experience if you aren't prepared for a very leisurely day.

Beignet - unexpected, I really kept expecting it to be sweet but I'd get hit with the olive tapenade instead. The texture is nice, but I was a bit confused. Jewel box tomatoes - bright, fresh, and light. The mostly neutral but slightly savory feta gelato was very unique. Risotto - creamy, but still a bit of texture on each grain of rice. I loved the sweetness from the corn and richness from the squash. The peppers were delicious pops of flavor. Mille feuille - light and refreshing cream with a flaky exterior. Definitely come on Tuesday to save $16 (if the discount continues in the future). $83 for a high end-ish four-course prix fixe (includes tax and automatic service charge) isn't too bad in terms of pricing.

Today however it wasn't pizza that brought me here, it was the famous Emmy Burger. To begin with the atmosphere of the restaurant is dim lighting a few tables with a reasonable sized bar in the middle of the room. They also have an open kitchen concept where just past the bar you can see the cooks working. My server Inda was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. My burger was excellent, normally I don't eat my burger with a knife and folk, but in this case with all the cheese and sauce oozing down the sides, not to mention the caramelized onions, it was necessary. (If I were home I wouldn't mind having burger juices running down my arm, but other people were eating in the restaurant also). The tiny pickles which I can't remember the name of were an added treat to the burger. I decided to order mine with the loaded fries. Just imagine the ground burger with all the toppings covering french fries and add melted white cheese. Since I was alone I didn't order a pizza because how would I eat it all, but next time I will try the pizza. I don't mind paying extra for a burger when it's aged beef and the taste is great. I definitely recommend this location. There is a fast food burger restaurant next door to Emily's but I can't imagine there burgers compare. I will try them another time and let you know. That's all for now, see you on my next review.
