The soup dumplings place pop up in Tampa Bay Area. It is good for the consumer like me. Now I have more choices. Shanghai Dumpling is a good choice for the USF area if you not wish to travel far. The restaurant has decent soup dumplings with a lot soup and thin skin dumplings. One thing I don't like is they may the top of the dumplings too thick in skin. It is not the traditional 16 folds. Bite there like bite a piece of dough. All dumplings is good for in filling. Soup is abandoned in the dumpling. I like the traditional soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings. Neat little date night restaurant. Walk in and they have a kiosk and greeter to check in and get in line for a table. The menu is pretty straightforward and is made up dumplings, noodles, fried rice, and teas. We ended up ordering several dishes to try and share. Chicken and mushroom dumplings, pork Xiao long bao, and vegetable fried rice. All of them were good, hot and tasty. My favorite were the soup dumplings. Just be careful as they can be HOT. I literally didn't know this place existed here. It's in the previous hot pot place. And let me tell you that this place is the new neighborhood fav because business is poppin! Our wait time was about 20 minutes and the crowd keeps flowing in. You sign in on the kiosk when you arrive and they text you when your table is ready. Service is pretty fast. The soup dumplings is the obvious winner out of all that we tried. If we do go back we will just get the soup dumplings and the fried rice. Those were our favorites. Who doesn't love potstickers & noodles? For lunch we scurried into Shanghai Dumpling House. The interior was very clean & modern. When we initially arrived they had just opened. We were seated & it was funny to see 4 workers sitting at a back table all just looking down at their IPhones. I kept watching & after a few minutes one looked up. I stared at her & she understood we were sitting & waiting on someone to take our order. So she nudged another worker who then got up to wait on us. Such a sign of the times, lol. We ordered Udon Noodles with chicken, along with pan fried pork potstickers. The udon noodle dish was just average. The potstickers though tasted extremely fresh. I have been distraught because my favorite Chinese restaurant but I've been going to for so long closed recently. Finding Shanghai Dumpling House really softened the blow. I've had a chance to try a good deal of their menu and overall I'm impressed. My absolute favorite is the pan fried dumplings, which come with a crispy lattice work on the bottom that is so delicious. I've also tried their pork buns, udon noodles, and wonton. All good. The thing I was most excited about was the soup dumplings and I actually think they are just "OK". They honestly pale in comparison to the pan fried dumplings. But nothing I've had here is bad. I also love how when you get a to-go order everything is put inside of an insulated bag and each soup dumpling is in an individual wrapper that helps contain any soup leakage. Okay, we've been to Shanghai Dumpling House twice in one week, so that should tell you something. The soup dumplings are legit. They're made fresh in-house, and the fillings are generous. The chicken soup dumplings were the star for me: soft wrappers, super flavorful broth inside, and actually packed with filling (not skimpy at all). The chicken and mushroom pan-fried dumplings had that perfect crispy bottom and juicy center. So good. The sauce was strong in vinegar for me so we skipped that . The cucumber appetizer was light and refreshing, with a dab of Sriracha. The chicken udon was comforting and satisfying. The only thing I'd tweak was the fried rice , we had the chicken and vegetable fried rice, it could use a little more seasoning or sauce to give it that extra punch. Now for the two different experiences: Our first visit? Amazing. All our food came out in like 10 minutes, service was on point, and everything felt smooth and efficient. Second visit was a little more... relaxed. We had to get up to let our server know we were ready to order because he was on his phone. Came by every 5 mins while we were still eating (which I personally find kind of distracting), but relaxed when we were done ended up going to the front to pay since the check never came. Not awful, just not as polished as the first time. That said , the place is spacious , clean, modern, and such a great addition to the area. The food quality alone will keep us coming back. We heard from @Rachel this place had just opened and decided to pop by for a to go order on our way home. There is plenty of parking. My first impressions were it is spotlessly clean, stylish and spacious. We ordered many items including multiple kinds of soup dumplings, three different pan fried dumplings, siu mai, fried rice and udon noodles. Everything was fantastic even an hour later when we got home! Yoyo provided a homemade soy milk while I waited and it was delicious. She also offered to give us a cucumber salad with our large order and helped me carry everything to the car. Order the shrimp fried rice and see what happens... I ordered it to go as well as ordering a couple items to eat there... As I was eating, the table next to me got their order of shrimp fried rice and I looked at it thinking that it was the most boring, bland-looking white fried rice that I've ever seen and then I realized that that's exactly what I ordered to go... The people next to me took a bite of it and tasted nothing and called the waiter to have it removed... The only reason I didn't do the same is because I have the ingredients at home to hopefully make it taste better, and so I took the easy road and just took it home... But I tasted it and it was just white rice with cooked shrimp tossed in it with no soy sauce and no seasonings of any type... Barely any egg... I took it home and I scrambled three eggs and mixed up some soy sauce, good oyster sauce, sesame oil, water, grated ginger and garlic, a tablespoon of XO sauce, and tossed it in the hot wok with the rice and it made it edible... It was actually freaking delicious... I ordered pork soup dumplings and they arrived in the steamer basket kind of dry like they were made earlier... They had a skin on top, and were a little collapsed... There was nothing delicious about these things... The pork tasted like minced cat food and it did not have a pleasant flavor and neither did the soup that was in there... I almost could not finish it because of the offputting taste... I thought The shrimp soba noodles were OK... Like a fat noodle lo mein... thank God it had flavor but it was not excellent... 50 bucks for lunch with a to-go item... The table next to me asked for another type of fried rice made properly with soy sauce and seasonings but when it came to the table they had that removed as well... These people were not unreasonable because I got to see what they were talking about... I got some good news at Moffitt and thought I would treat myself to a decadent Asian lunch but was very disappointed... The cooks need to taste their food... I'm glad Shanghai Dumpling House opened up. Now I don't have to go all the way over to Brandon. They did a nice job of remodeling the inside. Inside, they have a nice modern look and feel. Service was decent, with friendly waiters. The food itself was solid. While not quite at the level of Din Tai Fung, it is definitely solid for Tampa. The Soup Dumplings had a decent amount of broth, the pan fried dumplings had a nice crispy exterior, and the menu options were sufficient. I do think the soup dumpling skins can be a bit thinner and the dining tables a little bit bigger. But for Tampa, this is a very solid option :) read more

Some interesting offerings, like corn juice but unfortunately they were out of it. I came to this spot after seeing a review on TikTok and I am so happy I did! I have been to many Dim Sum places in the area and this one stacks up to the others. The food is fresh (you can tell it's made in house) and the boba was phenomenal! I would recommend the black truffle and pork xiao long bao and the vegetable stir-fried udon. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. We did have a little wait of 35 minutes which was not surprising for a new restaurant opening. The service was a little slow, but expected for how busy they were with a little staff. You ca tell they weren't expecting to be so busy. I'm not sure if it was because I went during lunch break, but midway through my meal my server and the rest of the staff gathered in a corner leaving me to wave for about five minutes before being noticed and helped, which took away from the experience. Service aside, the food is solid. My favorite dish, was the Pork Xiao Long Bao (no photo). It was done well, with great flavor, rich broth and good portions. The rice was fine, and the Pork + Shrimp Xui Mai had a nice balance of flavor with a generous amount of shrimp. The spicy wontons in chili sauce were a bit of a letdown, but I'd still recommend them since the flavor improved when paired with the chili crisp on the table. I also enjoyed the thematic atmosphere Shanghai Dumplings has, which sets the mood right away. Is this Din Tai Fung? No. But is it a good enough stand-in until one finally opens in Florida? Our 3rd dumpling restaurant we've tried in the last 3 months. This one has been the best. Service was fantastic. Food was excellent and prices were more reasonable. They did a great job remodeling from the hot pot restaurant it used to be. Super cute, wide open, and bright. Our favorite dumplings were the steamed pork with chili oil and the pan fried with pork, shrimp, and chives. The truffle soup dumplings were excellent also. The establishment is clean and quaint. The only reason I have it 4 stars is because the women's restroom has a leak at the sink that needs addressing. But overall, the restroom was also clean. We were greeted and sat by a host. The waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious and easy to order. The menu has pictures and they give you an order form like if you are at a sushi restaurant. We ordered the beef noodles, the wontons in chili sauce, the black truffle buns, and the fried dough. The portions were plenty to share and the wait time was minimal. It was my first time trying the bun. I didn't care that it had water in them from the steam but that was just me. The flavor was delicious and I would order them again. I just didn't know to expect that. I was with my grandson so I didn't think to take pics. Some of the worst service I've had in a long time. Showed up 2 hrs before closing, ignored by multiple staff members before being sat at a half set table. There's no spot to order water on the sheet you order on and it took ages to get water after our order sheet being picked up. Food came out fairly decently quick and tasted good! But when it came time to ask for the check, all the workers disappeared into the back for nearly 25 minutes. We didn't end up leaving till almost 20 minutes before closing. I have never visited this place in person but recently ordered their wonton soup 3x within 4 days. Its amazing and comes in super convenient packaging where the wontons arw separated from the soup so they dont get soggy. Also, today I added the sticky rice siu mai and they were equally as amazing as the wonton soup. This is the best dumpling restaurant in Tampa Bay! The fresh soup dumplings have a thin chewy skin and delicious broth. We had both pork/ shrimp and pork/ scallop soup dumplings...ooh yummm!! The sliced beef pancakes were flaky and tasty with a sweet dip. The pan fried dumplings were generous size and had a nice crunch. The shrimp hargow has a nice delicate chew - love it! The milk boba was fantastic. It was not too sweet but just right and the bobas were very fresh and chewy. Also, we had a cup of homemade hot soy milk - delicious! It is definitely a must try! We used to love this restaurant. The sliced beef scallion pancakes were my favorite. The first time we went, the service was great and the portions were generous. However, yesterday, the portions were LITERALLY halved. We showed our waiter a picture of our previous order, (bc we always take pictures of our food) and she claimed that the portions have always been served that way. She suggested that the portions were bigger because the restaurant was newer. Later, someone from the back told us that the dough was rolled a specific way, which doesn't explain the size difference at all AND doesn't explain why the couple beside us ordered the same EXACT dish and had a completely different portions. Theirs resembled the portions we are used to. How hard would it have been to recognize that the portion we were served are HALVED, apologize, and accommodate us with the correct portions?
