I typically get Chinese food on Sundays and sit down and enjoy it, but this food just was really disappointing. The food lacked flavor and I literally had to stop eating it midway because it just wasn't doing it for me. Just seemed cheap and food wasn't the best for me. I even had to throw away the egg roll. I just want to say, I read other reviews with negative comments about the shrimp and owners, and I was hesitant to try because of that. But my love of Chinese food drove me to give it a try anyway. Food was good, shrimp were large and good. I got a Four Seasons and it was good. I will say I've had tastier Chinese food, but this is about the best I've had in Wilkes. Honestly, Golden Wok Is just about as good. But I will be back to Shanghai Express to try some other dishes. I will also say service was good and VERY fast. Oh and the boneless spare ribs were really good IMO. Not tough, either, actually more tender than I'm used to. Will definitely get that again. read more

This is the best Chinese takeout spot in Wilkes county in my opinion. Especially after my experience at China Wok tonight...Shanghai will always have our business! Hot, large portions (my husband and I always split a dinner plate). They have the best egg rolls and I can never eat just one. My only complaint would be that they don't include enough broccoli in their General Tso's. Other than that, definitely worth it! read more

I do not recommend this restaurant at all. I typically love this type of food so decided to try Shanghai Express. We ordered the sesame shrimp and lobster sauce shrimp. To start with , the sesame shrimp was heavily breaded and shrimp tasted funny...funny like spoiled. I decided not to eat it. I typically also love stir fried vegetables but the broccoli in this dish looked old and unappetizing. I did not eat that either. The only redeeming thing about the meal was the rice and egg roll. The rest got thrown out. The other lobster sauce shrimp just looked weird. There were clear bubble like things in the food...I have no idea what that was. The peas and carrots in it were even unedible and not even cooked. In my opinion, look elsewhere for Chinese food in Wilkesboro. read more

This is my favorite Chinese food place in all of Wilkes County. The egg rolls are amazing as well as the Sesame Chicken. I'm not a big rice fan so I can honestly say my favorite thing to get is the vegetable Lo Mein. Everyone is always nice and willing to help with whatever you need. The only reasons I gave four stars instead of five is due to their bathrooms (never horribly dirty but they never seem as clean as they could be) and the drinks are pretty pricey. read more
