I've been following Shanney on IG for awhile, waiting for an opportunity to take her 1:1 make-up class in NorCal since I'm in SoCal. I finally had a day off and immediately decided to book a flight and appointment with Shanney. Shanney is relaxed, easy to talk to and the environment is welcoming, professional, and clean. I thought I was kinda intermediate with make-up but this lesson showed me that I was more beginner than I realized. During the 1:1 lesson, I appreciated that it was hands-on - like Shanney helped me feel the pressure I was putting on my eyeshadow brushes (I thought I was applying light pressure but it wasn't light enough). That's something I wouldn't know when watching a video. I wear pretty light make-up on the daily but I wanted to learn how to properly contour and do glam make-up for events/going out. I've watched YouTube make-up tutorials in the past but when I'd try it, it didn't turn out as great. Their cheekbones or eyes differed from mine, so I was glad I was able to learn from Shanney and find the grooves on my actual face. Tips: 1. Take as much notes/pictures as you can so you can reference them after you leave. 2. I brought my make-up products to the session but ultimately ended up using Shanney's because her products were better than mine.
