    Slainte!
    Tony K.

Shannon's is the real deal and a great addition to the Worcester Canal District scene. The have only been open just a few months but are operating like they are long time owners. Service was fantastic. Shannon herself waited on us and she was just a pleasure! You will walk into this spot and notice the walls covered with authentic treasure from Ireland. The bar is the focal point of the place and very nicely appointed. It was nearly full on a Saturday afternoon. Don't forget to check out the Craic room in the back. It's a great spot to hang out with friends. Initially I was expecting sandwiches and pub appetizers but I tried the stuffed peppers and thought they were the best I've had. Better than Mom's. Sorry Mom!! Others at my table had burgers and tacos. Everything got high marks. The shoestring fries were average but a minor negative. Your best option for parking is on the street or municipal lot using the Passport app. It is just a few dollars for several hours. Slainte!!

You walk in, and BAM smells like Guinness, shepherd's pie, and pure happiness. The bartender knows your name.

We asked the manager for some napkins to prop up the wobbly table and he said (quote) "Why don't you tell your kid not to stand on his chair" and walked away. The kid in question was literally sitting in his chair with one foot against the table. We explained to the manager the impact of what he said, and gave him multiple opportunities to apologize. We get it: its St Patrick's Day in an Irish bar and it's stressful. But instead of recognizing that he snapped: he doubled down and tried to convince us that his language fine, and that we were in the wrong for calling him out. I even talked with him an hour later, after it had cooled off, and he continued to be aggressive and dismissive. A bad manager is one thing. But our server didn't acknowledge the awkwardness (even as other families watched in shock), just trying to rush us out. The food was probably the worst it's ever been at Stone's, which raises questions of why. It's understandable to have a bad day, it's *not* ok to set the tone for your staff and establishment that berating your customers, unprompted, is acceptable.

This is where the locals go and it feels like the Worcester version of Cheers. There are always people of all ages here. It's relaxed, not too loud. Tonight there was a great 90s music playlist on. There are bar seats, booths, high tops. Plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports. I have never had issues with staff or service. My waitress tonight smiled plenty and the food came out quickly even though the restaurant was full. She did everything right, was attentive and polite. My son ordered the NY Strip steak. The thing was huge and would have likely cost $40 elsewhere. Here? $18. I got the lettuce wraps which are technically an appetizer but the portion is big enough for a meal. The menu is extensive, has something for everyone, and there are always specials. Great place for a casual family meal, I'll keep coming back.

We got seated right away, but it was busy for the time (mid afternoon). Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. The French onion soup hit the spot and was some of the best I've ever had. Rich beef broth, tender onions, nice and hot, and of course perfectly melted cheese. We shared a patty melt with onion rings. The patty melt was overdone - we ordered medium but it was beyond well done. Still flavorful but would have preferred it as ordered. They had a large patio which must be nice in the summer. A lot of the photos showed it being in a shopping mall, but those must be old, because it is a standalone restaurant. We will definitely go back when in the area, especially when we want French onion soup!

The burgers certainly didn't seem fresh. We had the appetizer pretzel that was $12 and came out on the big "show-stopping" hook. The bottom was almost burnt, it had no salt on it and absolutely ZERO flavor. The mustard and cheese sauce that they gave you to dip it in was tasteless. I'm pretty sure the cheese sauce was from a can and the mustard was just plain yellow mustard. Gross. The only redeeming thing about the meal was my chili..I'd say that was very good. Everything else was subpar. Service was friendly, but we didn't really require a lot. It was over $100 for four of us to have a light lunch and only one person had an alcoholic beverage. So it's pretty expensive for midgrade pub food. The atmosphere has a cozy vibe and I'm sure when their patio is open, people will enjoy that. But I certainly won't be back anytime soon.
