Based on the other Yelp reviews, it looks like people either love or hate this place. I'm giving it 5 stars and have been here 3-4 times. Atmosphere... it's divey, in a good way! This is where the locals go and it feels like the Worcester version of Cheers. There are always people of all ages here. It's relaxed, not too loud. Tonight there was a great 90s music playlist on. There are bar seats, booths, high tops. Plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports. I have never had issues with staff or service. My waitress tonight smiled plenty and the food came out quickly even though the restaurant was full. She did everything right, was attentive and polite. My son ordered the NY Strip steak. The thing was huge and would have likely cost $40 elsewhere. Here? $18. I got the lettuce wraps which are technically an appetizer but the portion is big enough for a meal. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I ordered a 3 topping pizza to go and the bar staff or kitchen never bothered to put my order in?? Completely oblivious to common sense and customer service. After wait 45 minutes for a pizza that should take 15-20 minutes to prepare I demanded my money back and left. read more

We went for the first time today for lunch and it was great! I got fried fish and swapped out the fries for asparagus (up charge of $3), no big deal and it was delicious. Husband got Chicken Broccoli Alfredo and enjoyed that, too! Service was quick and friendly. We'll be coming back! read more

The vegetables were fresh and crunchy however, the chicken kinda looks like those grilled chicken strips that you get in the frozen section. It's edible but kind of cold and kind of fake tasty. It's also pretty inexpensive to eat here as they have their $9.99 deal going on on Mondays. Service: our server made sure we got everything, would have appreciated a bit more attentiveness, but still fine. Just because a place serves and you personally drink Guinness, Smithwicks (don't say the W), Jameson, or Murphy's doesn't make you or any place Irish. FYI: Shepherds look after sheep... so to call something Shepherds Pie when made with beef is completely wrong - 'Cottage Pie' is made with Beef and Shepherds Pie with Lamb, but wouldn't expect Americans to know this but certainly would for a supposed Irish owner. Lastly, please don't ever call yourself "Irish" and especially "Irish-American", because it sounds dumb to those from across the pond. Used to be our favorite takeout place as it's nearby and the food is decent (beats fast food). Unfortunately they seem to never answer the phone anymore! It's quite rude as my family and I used to be regulars. Don't even bother calling for takeout. If you really want their food, you're just going to have to be there in person. Excellent entrees and appetizers. Subpar bartenders. My wife and I have been in the past 2 Saturday afternoons on the recommendation of some friends. Both weeks we arrived around 2:00/2:30 so it wasn't super busy. We sat at the bar both times. Bar was at about 2/3 capacity both times, So not crazy busy. Week1: we had a couple appetizers and an entree each. Great buffalo tenders and Irish "potato skins". We followed that up with Prime ribs that were spot on! Bartender was a young blonde girl who just stood around most of the time. Had to flag her down repeatedly to grab another bottled beer. She wasn't very warm/friendly to us either. We chalked it up to being "newbies". Week 2: buffalo tenders again spot on. Followed up with a burger for me and fried clams for my wife. Both excellent. Great fries. Bartender #2. 35-ish brunette. Same story. Just not friendly! Would it kill these girls to smile, check on your meal and come ask if you want a 2nd beer? I can't imagine how long you have to wait for a beer if the place is busy. Everything. The food is terrible. The service is nonexistent and, as I have previously written, when I questioned where my pot roast when all it took was to take the food from a pot to a bowl. Scruffy Murphy's for the win! We came on a Wednesday with my family and it was a great ambiance. Live music and you cannot beat the food prices. My tuna melt was delicious and my parents shared their Wednesday special of fajitas for $12.99. There was so much food that it was more than enough for both of them. The smash and burger was a favorite for my boyfriend as well. This is a very good option if you are looking for some bar food and a fun night. Our waiter was great and attentive. So let's have a rant Earlier this evening I go to meet up my son at Scruffy Muphy's Worcester I sit down at the bar The very polite bartender asks me if I had another person coming. I said yes. He asks if I want 2 menus I said definitely my son is on his way The said bartender brings out 2 set ups and two menus and I order a drink Five minutes go by and my son attempts to sit down in his seat with the menu and setups next to me Suddenly the other Bartender/Manager Steve comes up and tells my son that he can not sit there that the seat is reserved (said son is 25) I then politely said that I was saving that seat for my son.....hence the menus and set ups on the bar Said manager Steve then goes into a tirade about how he is not sitting there and that he doesn't care that the said chair was already set up for a guest My son then suggests that he grab a chair from another table and then the so said Manager Steve then physically pulls the chair that my son is sitting in away from him BTW this is all on their video At this point I try to explain that I have been becoming to said restaurant for 5 years and that I have been a loyal customer Then the Manger/Beer pourerfor life tells me that we haven't been open for 5 years Hmmm 2024 minus 2019 equals 5 I then attempted to apologize to the beer pourer for getting upset. And he proceeded to throw myself and my son out of the restaurant I will never set foot in that establishment. My family has enjoyed going to this restaurant perhaps three or four times the food is not anything fabulous but decent and reasonable pricing in the server is usually super friendly however we went there on Tuesday for their all you can eat tacos it was one of the worst meals I have ever had out there were so many issues with our dining experience The most frustrating part is I have been trying to get a hold of the manager of the restaurant to let him know of his restaurant and I'm most unpleasant experience we had on Tuesday however even finding this managers phone number anywhere is difficult I've had to call four times finally I got a person to speak with me However she said there's no manager here he may be in on Friday I was about to hang up didn't tell me his name was not helpful at all so not happy at all ... If I'm not able to get the manager on the phone tomorrow I will give more details and specifics as to why it was awful and will never go back there again Unless of course this MIA manager speaks with me and is apologetic and reimburse us for food that should not have been served to us completely unacceptable...And subpar across-the-board who's ever cooking and managing that place needs to resign resolve read more

Really pains me to leave this. I live close by and have eaten here, as well as ordered food to go, dozens of times. The service has gotten complacent; and today, was especially rude. No one cares about a long story, but I ordered one thing, received another thing, and then when I asked about it, I was told it was definitely me that was wrong. I never raised my voice, never used any language. In fact, I was taken aback at the level of attitude given how I approached the problem. I ended up getting my money back for that item, but not without new attitude and zero apology or admittance of any wrong doing. I just don't understand why I was treated so poorly over something so easily solvable. Can't go back - and I'm sure no one cares, but at least I got to "tell" the story. read more

Server was slow to acknowledge us, but finally came over and took our drink order. we asked for menus. The place was not busy...maybe 6 patrons....a few at the bar. Prices were reasonable...burger was tiny..it was "lost" in the bun. .flat bread was disappointing...barely warm, little cheese, and squiggles of a dressing that just tasted off. server was less than attentive, seeming bored to be there. We had to try hard to get her attention to order another drink. She did, after we ordered, wipe down the bar area in front of us.. but left the previous patrons dirty glass sitting there...the whole time we were there. Was at Scruffys last night. Long wait for a table but that was to be expected. Once we were seated we sat for quite a while without receiving a menu or asked for a drink. I finally asked one of the waitresses who was our waitress and she said we all are. RUDE . Attitude adjustment needed. My husband got the prime rib and wanted it cook Medium . It was cooked well and was dry. No one every came back to the table to inquire if our food was any good. So needless to say we were very disappointed and will not be back. Also there was no breakdown of our bill so we did not know how much we paid for anything. And the prime rib was very thin ,never seen it served that way.
