Stopped by for a quick bite and was not disappointed! The Vietnamese coffee was absolutely perfect--rich, bold, and just the right amount of sweetness from the condensed milk. It had that smooth yet strong kick that kept me energized all day. I paired it with their turkey sandwich on Dutch crunch, and wow--so good! The bread had that signature crispy, crackly top with a soft interior, and the turkey was fresh and flavorful. Topped with crisp veggies, creamy mayo, and just the right amount of seasoning, every bite was a delicious mix of crunch and tenderness. Great food, friendly service, and a cozy spot to relax. Definitely coming back for another coffee and sandwich combo!

Cute little hidden gem in Oakland. Private patio area for a chill day at the cafe. Free WiFi and easy street parking! Enjoyed a cafe latte on the patio area. Nicely shaded in case it gets hot! Staff were kind and inviting! Would recommend!

Sometimes, there is nothing better than a good sandwich. When I get that craving, I usually like to go to Autobahn Cafe. Located a good 4-5 blocks away from Jack London Square, it's a nice walk and offers the perfect amount of time to decide what to get. The staff, although rotating a couple of times within these last few years, are always friendly without there being too much pleasantries. They serve very tasty sandwiches, breakfast burritos, pastries, and espresso drinks. I'm not the biggest fan of their dripped coffee, but oh yes for their lattes. They serve their sandwiches with nice quality ingredients and the portions are always just-right, enough to enjoy a beverage and a side of chips.

Shapeshifters Cafe is always my go to whenever I'm in the area. The pastries at are out of this world! I tried the croissant, and it was perfection - flaky, buttery, and perfectly sweet. It's clear that they use high-quality ingredients and put a lot of care into their baking. Their lavender latte is a blend of rich, smooth espresso with the subtle, aromatic hint of lavender was both soothing and invigorating. It's a must-try for any coffee lover looking for something special and unique. Shapeshifters Cafe is a gem that I can't recommend highly enough.

It is a nice place. And it is open early in the morning and good for breakfast. Service was quick, and food came out pretty quickly.

Not a huge fan, they aren't doing bagels anymore - probably to force people to spend more money. Breakfast burritos are a high tortilla ratio. And you'll walk out spending $14. I'll be back for $5 bagel and cream cheese.

I love the Saturday brunch on first Saturdays! The breakfast burritos are great and they usually have yummy specials on Saturday.

Really cool neighborhood cafe in old Victorian building. They make their chais from scratch--steamed tea leaves and all.

My wife and I stopped by Plenty on a Sunday Afternoon for their "Pleny+" semi-monthly,…read moreweekend-only, pop-up, presented by Chef Asuka Uchida. The $57 pre-fixe menu -- which changes every other week, is incredible in value. I don't think there's a better quality set menu in East Bay. Our meal started off with a trio of appetizers: a cured Atlantic mackerel, a lobster mushroom croquette, and a gulf shrimp chawanmushi. For the two of us, the perfectly fried croquette was our favorite item. The mushroom filling inside was such a wonderful punch of umami to start the meal. While I've had a bunch of chawanmushi in my life, this was the first time I've had a cold rendition of the dish. Between the appetizers and the main course, we had a vegetable potage soup. Like the appetizer course, there was also a mushroom incorporated in the dish, tying the meal together. The soup was incredibly complex, with multiple waves of flavor in each bite. For our entree, we had miso pork belly over a bed of rice with an onsen egg. I'm generally not the biggest fan of pork belly because of how fatty it often tastes, but I really enjoyed the preparation here. The pork belly is sliced thinner than you're typical piece of bacon, and the fat from the pork belly has been nicely rendered out so it doesn't coat your mouth with each bite. The onsen egg seemed like it would overwhelm the dish with its richness, but I found that it was a nice complement that went well with the rice underneath the pork belly. The spicy mustard bamboo shoots and the slivered onions helped balance out the richness as well. Last but not least, we had a Kyoho grape parfait for dessert. This was a refreshing way to round out the end of our meal. I loved the creativity of the pepper mascarpone anaglaise and also the texture provided by the almond cookie crumble. I cannot wait to stop by again to try out another one of Chef Asuka Uchida's pre-fixe menu.

Good spot for a healthy lunch in Uptown, but there were some things that were disappointing…read more I came by for lunch with a friend on a Friday afternoon around noon and it was empty when we arrived, though it got busier soon afterwards as the lunch rush hit. At one point I remember looking up and being surprised that most of the tables were occupied. I ordered the eel bowl for $15.75. It was ready around 10 minutes later and looked good, but my first thought was that it was a smaller portion than I expected, especially for the eel, given the price. I had to portion out the eel to make sure it was enough to last for all the rice I had. It's a good thing I wasn't super hungry, as I'm not sure this would've been enough food otherwise to last me until dinner. But the most disappointing part to me was the avocado slices that came with the bowl. The avocado was the hardest I've ever had; I couldn't even chew it. I took one bite and immediately spit it out and didn't touch the rest. As someone who loves the combination of unagi + avocado, it was very disappointing to me that they couldn't find a riper avocado for my bowl.
