I made an appointment to take my son to Sharkys in Marietta yesterday. I had been to one other one in a different location and LOVED it, so I saw this one was closer to my home, and my son couldn't wait to go because he loved playing on the Xbox at the other one and we had such a good experience. Let me tell you - if I could give this place a -10 stars, I would. We had Clinton. Not only did he RUSH through my sons hair faster than I have ever seen anyone cut someone's hair in my entire life, but he COMPLETELY BUTCHERED IT. I am genuinely not sure if he just didn't care and put zero effort in, or if he truly has no idea how to cut hair. I want to add that I had an appointment at 5:20pm and they were behind, so it was 5:50pm when he finally got to my son, and they were closing in 10 minutes. Because of this, I was standing there watching him hack away at my son's hair carelessly, and rushing through it as fast as possible on top of that, as I mentioned above. As I was standing there, I was watching this happen and was slightly horrified. It was looking worse and worse by the second. But as some parents probably do, you stand there hoping it'll all come together in the end, right? That's what I was thinking anyway. When Clinton said he was done, and I saw the end result, I was just straight up baffled. But, me not being a super confrontational person, I quietly and hesitantly started telling him it didn't look right to me (that was me putting it NICELY). He immediately got flustered and annoyed and asked me what he wanted me to do. I started pointing out all the flaws asking if he could fix this and fix that etc. as nicely as I could put it since I hate awkward situations, and he was getting more and more annoyed. But, the best part? As ANGRY as I am that he was that rude and careless with my son and my son's hair right before EASTER weekend, that's not even what I'm the most mad about. What infuriates me to my core, is how MRS. MITZI came running over asking what's wrong and when I showed her, she said to me, "what's wrong with it?" I was dumbfounded at her response. She was completely gaslighting me. I was as nice as could be to Clinton AND her, until she started just blatantly attacking me. Raising her voice, telling me "EVERYONE CUTS HAIR DIFFERENTLY!!!!" as if I'm some MORON and actually going to believe that. When I tell you that I am OUTRAGED from MRS. MITZI'S behavior is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I have NEVER in my 33 years on this earth been so disrespected, humiliated, and yelled at to the point where I literally broke down in tears in the parking lot, as I have from her in that shop yesterday. She KNEW he messed up. She KNEW he butchered it. And she KNOWS he can't cut hair. As I now know this from the review that was left on here 3 weeks ago from Leah McAlpin about HER son's hair that was done by Clinton. Yet Mrs. Mitzi sat there basically screaming at ME like I did something wrong. Like THEY weren't the ones who made the mistake!!! If they literally would have just been like, "we're so sorry, Clinton is still new and still learning" or whatever the excuse was, just an apology would have made it all better honestly. But to turn on ME like that, when I wasn't even being nasty or raising my voice at the slightest. Not to mention, I'M the one who kept saying I was sorry and repeatedly saying I wasn't trying to cause problems but his hair is a mess. What infuriates me more is how she was acting like I was being nasty to my child or something? I wasn't even saying anything to my child. I was speaking to them about my child's hair. My son is my everything. If he looked scared it was because of the way that woman was yelling at his mother. Mrs. Mitzi, how DARE you act like I was the problem. I will be doing everything I can to post this ALL OVER social media, yelp, and wherever else I can, to spread this like WILDFIRE! I walked out without paying and went right down the sidewalk in the same parking lot to SportClips where I broke down in tears. They took us in, were SO SWEET, and did a TREMENDOUS JOB.

    Sharkeys Kids' cut.

I spent $35+tip on a haircut at Sharkeys on Sat only to spend $25+tip at another barbershop on Mon to fix what Sharkeys did. Plus they say "LGBTQ friendly" but one staff member tried to approach me about my son sitting with his legs crossed and they've second guessed him on more than one occasion when he asked for nail polish. The kids like it but in the interest of fiscal responsibility and emotional safety for my kids, we won't be back. And before management claims to not have a record of our visit as they have for the other negative reviews here, my wife booked the appointment. I have receipts. Literal and figurative.

Happy Eli with his new friend Nikki at Sharkeys in Marietta Ga. Jan 2023

This hair salon for kids is truly awesome. My 4 year-old grandson has previously had horrible visits for a cut from other places. Regular men's barber shops I guess were too rough for him or something as he would flail and twist and cry. But the experience at Sharkeys in Marietta was fabulous! Eli was happy with his Mickey roadster. And Nikki, you were so gentle, you stopped to put on powder when his neck itched, you loosened the collar when he said the cape was too tight, you helped him work through the feeling of the clippers. Nikki, you were just awesome! We will definitely be back for another great cut and experience!

    Patches and uneven fade

My son came back home with multiple patches. And just in uneven "fade". Very unhappy with the overall haircut when he came back home with his dad.

I took my son here for his first hair cut and had a great experience. Took him back a second time and my son even complained that it looked weird. Thought it was a fluke, went back there because his hair grew out and he's got picture day tomorrow at school. Didn't notice it because it was combed over but i brushed it down and this is how it looks..? The whole left side is cut so abruptly, beyond mad

Avoid at all costs! They whisper and talk about customers to each other while the customer is there. Very unprofessional.

From the initial phone call with the owner Valencia , to the staff was a great experience. Valencia…read more, assured me over the phone that my niece's hair and well being would be taken care of . She listened to my concerns and I didn't feel rushed . I expressed to Valencia , the concerns of the braider being child friendly and that I could bring my own braiding hair . She stated that bringing my own hair was absolutely acceptable. Since the makeup of her clientele is children ages 3-18, she assured me the staff would be understanding of my nieces needs. She was so nice over the phone and answered all of my questions. It was very simple to book the appointment with a 25.00 deposit to hold her spot . As the appointment time was near I received reminder text messages until the last 30 minutes to the appointment time. If you set an appointment with Kiddos and forget the date and time , it's definitely your fault . The text messages may have been automated possibly, but regardless it will be your fault for sure . There is an open parking lot and it's relatively small but It wasn't difficult to find parking . The shop is located on a one way street. Therefore beware that same way you came will not be the same direction you will leave . Just for your information ( during this time period) the road adjacent to the shop is under construction as well . I can imagine that causing frustration on a busy time of day . Thankfully , appointment wasn't on a very busy day . When I arrived , there were only two clients which were children of course . I don't think I've ever been to a salon where it's child based. The braiders acknowledge our presence when we walked in and advised me to sign in at the front desk upon arrival. The manager informed me that the assigned braider was on her way . Once she arrived she walked right over to us with a smile . She introduced jerked as Alexis and she took my niece to the back for a shampoo . Typically she's afraid to get her hair shampooed but she was calm and excited to get her hair done. Ms. Alexis , was very nice to her and talked to her the way anyone that's experienced with children should . She addressed me as Auntie since I told her I was her aunt . Which was perfect , so that my niece wouldn't address me by my first name , later on. As a content creator I took video of the experience ( no other kids were recorded ) In fact my nieces face wasn't exposed as well. I asked Ms. Alexis if she was ok with being on film . She obliged. It was an over all great experience! Ms. Alexis was so nice and friendly as the other braiders . We all laughed together and told a few jokes . It was all appropriate around children . They made me feel like we'd been attending the salon for years . I fact there were children who had been coming for hair services for years . The children were so cute . I love children and I think it's nice to have a salon catered just for them . It should be a barber shop only for children . When Ms. Alexis finished her hair. It was so beautiful. She had a pretty blue bow in her hair which was free with a hairstyle. She was photo ready for sure ! She smiled and loved her hair . As we left the other braiders assured her she was pretty in her new hairstyle. I thought that was so nice of them . All of the ladies there who were braiding hair that day were so talented . They really knew their stuff! What touched me the most is seeing fathers bringing their daughters in for hair services. Some carried their little princess in their arms . As a society , we don't give fathers their flowers enough. There's some great dads out there. Shout out to the dads who bring their girls to kiddos !! It was so nice to see. I will be bringing my niece back !!

To be fair, I made a mistake and thought my appointment was at 9:30 when it was actually at 9:00. When Cheron called me at 9:10 I immediately apologized and even offered twice to reschedule if that was easier. Instead she just asked for my ETA in an irritated tone and said she'd see me soon. From the minute I got there the whole appointment felt tense. I asked for a simple trim, some face framing pieces, and something low maintenance since I don't spend a lot of time styling my hair. It didn't feel like a difficult request but I felt like my preferences were an inconvenience. Even the shampoo was so rough it was uncomfortable instead of relaxing. The haircut itself turned out nice but what really shocked me was the finish. I paid $150 and expected at least a basic styling. Instead, my hair was blow dried with her fingers... no round brush, no comb, no straightener, no curls. Nothing. I genuinely couldn't believe that was the finished result. I'm happy I ended up with a decent haircut but the overall experience felt uncomfortable from start to finish and nowhere near the level of service I expected.
