Stopped at the dollar tree and ended up parking in front of here. It was around lunch, so I came in. There's a large electronic menu on the right wall. I think I also saw a bathroom for customers. Small dining chairs/tables. The menu was a bit overwhelming, so I got 3 whiting fish with fries and bread to go. $8.99. Was ready in about 15+ minutes. I asked for buffalo sauce on the side. This meal was pretty tasty. Fries were good, and I'm not a huge fry person lol. I did start to feel queasy a few hours after eating it. Other than cereal in the morning and the fish, I didn't eat anything else that day Place opened 18 days ago, as I was told. Guy at the register seemed pretty nice. Now this shopping center has another option for food! Free parking lot outfront, shared with other businesses or you can park on the side of the street next to dollar tree if needed

I was feeling Chicago nostalgia and recently came into the knowledge that Washington DC had this Chicago area chain of small, normally, carry out style restaurants. In Chicago they typically have limited seating, if any at all and they are normally located in the hood. Personally, when living in Chicago, I probably only got food from their restaurants once or twice and they were never the first option. With that being said, Chicago is known for their chicken shack restaurants and their Mild sauce smothered (or on the side) wings and fries. Mild sauce is better than DC's mumbo sauce...fight me! I don't care! All of that is said to qualify me leaving my neighborhood to trek to this area of dc that I've never visited in the name of neighborhood exploration and fried chicken with mild sauce. Long story short, I get to the restaurant and order a 5 wings with mild sauce and the clerk asks me what is mild sauce? I was heartbroken. I essentially trekked across town for chicken wings and mumbo sauce which you can find in most any carry out in the city. The fries are good. The chicken was as average as I recall it being in the one on the south side of Chicago that I recall trying. I'll likely never be back over to the area but it'd be fine for a meal every so often if I lived in the area.

I see the restaurants have changed since we've first visited this food hall and flame & cones sits back in the corner where I remembered was once a juice bar. There was only 1 person working and God bless him! He had absolutely no idea what was referencing or talking about so he called his manager to confirm. Found it interesting that the manager of the phone, name Chris also had quite a few questions as well being that Chris Whiting is who issued my vouchers lol Nonetheless after confirming we placed our orders and waiting at the bar in the middle to the establishment. I just opted for a water and unsweetened tea with lemon. From where we were sitting, there was another burger spot in the place that I remembered MUSH to be, & I also placed an order for some fries while we waited. There was a live band playing which some patrons were excited to see. Pretty lively on a Saturday evening. Clean...you have options. From pizza, to burgers, tacos, a seafood restaurant quite a variety. Anyhoo- our pizzas- I was pretty impressed. My veggie pizza was yummy! And the hubs enjoyed his meat lovers "beef" option. The toppings were fresh, the sauce was delicious. I could see us coming back for some yummy pizza! Happy Yelping!

My friend mentioned that he loves Flame & Cones's other location, so I decided to give them a try. I got the Senate pizza which comes with pepperoni and fresh basil. So I was thrilled when one opened up in Hyattsville, not far from where I live. My partner and I have been there many times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it. But we were flabbergasted by our most recent experience. The food is as good as it ever was, but the value just isn't there. We were in on a Wednesday night and noticed a table sign for a special: two large pies and two appetizers for $60, so we ordered that. We each had one drink as well, and split a dessert. The bill came to over double that amount! We have paid less when eating in fine dining establishments. Why was our bill so high? Two main reasons: first because the upcharge for an additional topping is $4 each. I would expect that for fancy meat or cheese, but we only added red onion slices. Onions are one of the cheapest things in the supermarket, and $8 will buy a lot of onions. But I guess that's on us for not noticing that all additional toppings are the same (high!) price. Also, PP automatically adds a 20% charge in lieu of a tip. I have mixed feelings about that (and about the increases in tip culture in general). Our service was fine but not exceptional. Sadly, we will think hard before returning to PP. There are many other good pizza places out there.

My favorite pizza is the Bosco: mushrooms, spinach, onions and recently I ordered the 1/2 pizza with Bianca, a white pizza with mozzarella capers and spinach. The food is incredibly tasty but I do feel like the pizzas are on the small side for the price. I don't have a huge appetite but I could it a 12 inch all on my own. Staff is fine, I wouldn't say anything bad but they also weren't that warm. Great spot for dinner and their outdoor patio suits all seasons.

The day we visited, they had a margherita pizza and a veggie (mozzarella, Italian dandelions, sun-dried tomatoes, whipped goat chevre & hot honey). I'm still not sure what an Italian dandelion is, but it tasted great. But my favorite was the soft-serve, Honey Cardamon Lemon with Pistachios. Inventive and yummy! FYI, you can order the soft-serve when you order your pizza, but pick it up at the end of your meal so it doesn't melt. The food tastes great, but most of all, it's local and family-owned. Definitely in my standard rotation of pizza places. You should definitely get out to Takoma Park and try Red Hound!

Took about 30 minutes for our two pizzas to come out and we enjoyed being outside in the back where they have a few simple picnic tables set up.
