Definitely one of the most carefully crafted yoga studios I have ever been to. You sort of feel like you've been transported to somewhere in Southeast Asia. I love that there are heat lamps, blankets, and other accessories for use during the class. Although, the space is epic I didn't really find enjoyment in the class. It was supposed to be a relaxing low impact yoga class focusing on slow movements but I didn't really feel that at all. The instructor was nice but I found her transitions were confusing and sometimes didn't make sense. She wasn't really saying the name of the poses either. To me the instructions felt like I was taking a Pilates class. We were also holding the poses in my opinion way too long to the point I was actually feeling pain. And some poses were really advanced and didn't make me feel relaxed at all. I personally do not like it when there are lyrics in the music when I do yoga. Although it was more mellow indie songs I found it extremely hard to focus and it was kind of loud too. I would prefer just non lyrical relaxing music. At least for the part where we just sit/lay down towards the end. In summary, I don't think I would come back. I am used to donation based yoga around San Diego. If you want more traditional yoga I would just stick to the free classes around town.

The studio is clean and light, and they have a lot of nice equipment to use as far as blocks, bolsters, and blankets. I've been to a variety of types of classes here, but most recently I did a deep healing class taught by Tiffinie. It was pure magic and my body needed that. 75 minutes of slow postures that are held for a little bit longer, mobility exercises, and breathing. Yoga box in Hillcrest is always clean, organized, and has the most friendly staff. They provide mats and towels (free for first time) and $2 thereafter. The room is heated to around 90 degrees and it feels like a warm hug whilst you are working out. Occasionally, the instructors will open the doors to allow fresh air in during the classes. They have cold filtered water as well as a bathroom inside the studio. They have weights and blocks for you to use depending on what class you're taking. There is free parking, but it's shared with other establishments in the plaza, so make sure to get there early enough to secure your spot. They recommend you come 10 Minutes earlier than your scheduled class to settle in. That feeling you get after finishing a tough workout does wonders for the soul! Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

I did not know anything about aquatic bodywork and therapy until I met Sharon Plache. Sharon is a renowned expert in the field, and after a session with her I find it hard to believe that it is not the most popular form of and bodywork and stress relief available to us. As my body glided atop Sharon's warm salt water pool, I experienced a new form of relaxation. It felt as if the stress had completely left my body as I listened to my every breath and experienced the peace of the pool and the environment around it. While I slipped into a state of complete calm Sharon did some very gentle bodywork and light massage. I lost complete sense of time and space until I was guided to the stairs to sit and enjoy a drink of water while I awakened anew. The only experience I can compare it with is one I had while vacationing at the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. I was fortunate enough to take a helicopter tour, during which we were suspended in a canyon surrounded by waterfalls. I like how Sharon's pool therapy facilitates a natural release of stress. I believe we deal with overwhelm everyday. It accumulates in our mind and in our bodies. The freedom to expand in a weightless pool environment also helps with injuries. When I have swelling in a muscle due to over use or an accident, the water is the best surface to move in. I've been getting massages for over 10 years due to chronic neck and back issues, and I can confidently say she's in a league of her own. Every session leaves me walking taller, with noticeably better posture and the effects last for at least a week, which is rare. She is STRONG and maintains consistent deep pressure throughout a full two-hour massage! What really sets her apart is her ability to find knots and adjust her technique on the spot if the muscles don't respond. I've had people just give up before. She's trained in multiple modalities and mixes them up to meet your body's needs. If you live with chronic pain and your body responds positively to massage, you simply must visit her! I leave every appointment feeling so much better, both physically and mentally. I've also had some of my best naps on her massage table.
