Had my Gallbladder removed here. The check in , pre op nurses and procedure went well. It's the post op care that I had an issue with. This was the first surgery I had ever had. I had never been under anesthesia or anything. Let's just say when I came out of surgery I was in and out. I would wake up and fall asleep, I'm not too sure if the anesthesia just wasn't wearing off as fast as they thought it would but I did not feel ok. My oxygen kept dropping and I just remember my nurse calling me a "light weight" laughing at me MULTIPLE times. I'm sorry but how unprofessional is that? I remember thinking to myself, what kind of nurse says then when a patient is in a vulnerable state. Honesty, I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and the thought of it still bothers me. That nurse needs some sort of training. It made me not want to get surgery there ever again. Who wants to be mocked and laughed at when they're in recovery? read more

Sometimes the food is great but other times it's just salty especially the soup. I end up throwing it in the trash. It depends who cooks the food. Had sweet potato fries and home made potatoes which was great, had this apple wheat pancake that was healthy and good, had the sandwiches made which I get when I don't like what they offer in the menu. read more

The office seems to change appointments or cancel with me. Also I seem to get white women who are on their period they get rude and a bit nasty. Which would make anyone want to be nasty back. This last appointment I was to have 27 March 2026 was cancelled and the women on the phone was condescending that I made the appointment online WITHOUT a doctors referral. How dare I?! How many times do I have to get the doctors referral just to have a mammogram? I have been going there for the last 2 years. read more

This review is specifically for the Mammogram Unit on the 2nd floor. I scheduled an appointment. Called to confirm that there was no co-pay and they unequivocally told me there wasn't. I show up to be told that my appointment was canceled as their location was not covered by my insurance. NO ONE BOTHERED TO INFORM ME. I wasted most of my afternoon driving all the way and driving back. This is unacceptable customer service and their lack of empathy is pathetic. I would NOT recommend them. This is for imaging center, floor 2. On 12/8/2025, Lindsey, the blond curly hair female, checked us in for my mother's mammogram and dexa scan scheduled at 12:55. After checking in and sat down at 1pm, I realized that the dexa scan was scheduled for 12:55 and the mammogram at 1:25. I approached the front desk to asked if we need to check in for dexa scan because I think we have an appointment for that scan first, then mammogram. Lindsey then asked me, " what time is the dexa scan?" I answered 12:55, she then asked "and what time is it now?" I answered "uhmm 1pm". She then proceed to say with a condescending tone and attitude "yeah, you were late for your appointment". Lindsey and the front desk lady who was standing next to her, could either say, "you are late for your check ins, but I'll check you in for both scans now".. OR "you're late for your scans. We have to reschedule for one of them" That would have been a more professional and respectful thing to say to a patient. My mother has been a patient here for 3 decades. Never once had a horrible interaction like today. I was so confused by her tone, body language and responses. I hope to never see her again. read more

Are you low on iron? Do you need infusions? Well, if you use Sharp Healthcare, chances are you will be going to this Outpatient Pavilion(Also known as the James S. Brown Pavilion. Who is James S. Brown? No clue) If you are going to the Pavilion, turn onto the street name that says Mary Birch, that will lead you right into the parking garage(one hour free and they do mean ONE hour and not a minute more; $4 for anything after that). Watch the corners in the parking garage. Lots of opportunity for an accident. First few levels are almost always full. You'll end up on level 4 or 5. Take the elevator down and go across the round about patient pick-up for Mary Birch and the Pavilion is to the left of the hospital. There is an information desk if you need help. If you're going to the infusion room, it's to the right as you enter the Pavilion and then another right into the actual infusion room, where you will check-in. There are restrooms in there. Appointments run on time. There will be patients there to get infusions of all kinds, including chemotherapy. We are all in one large room with chairs. All the nurses are pretty nice. I had to go 5 separate times and I had 5 separate nurses. Most of them were friendship and efficient, and hit my vein on the first try. Two of five times they had to poke me twice, which is not really fun, but what can ya do? One nurse was committed to trying to make a vein work and they moved the needle around in my arm for 5 minutes and that was the anti-highlight of my day. I was nice and bruised like a banana the day after. I appreciate the commitment, but it's okay to try again. The last nurse I had dang near ripped the IV out of my arm when I was done and blood went flying onto the blanket my arm was propped up on. That was exciting. You will encounter a lot of generally kind people here and you may or may not be bruised like a banana. The end. read more

Had an outpatient surgery the other day and was very impressed from start to finish with the medical skill, professionalism and genuine caring of everyone I came in contact with. From the intake nurse to the discharging nurse, everyone exhibited the highest degree of caring and professionalism. The facility is state of the and run super efficiently. Regarding the Brown outpatient pavilion Imaging. For MONTHS, I tried calling to schedule a mammogram. Previously, that department was the most efficiently ran. HOWEVER, I would call and leave a message, and NO CALL BACK! Then I would call and NO ANSWER!! The voice mail box was FULL. THEN I even went IN PERSON to schedule and then the desk said I MUST call. I wanted to call right there. They refused and said it was a privacy issue! I complained to my primary care Physician. Now today they answered and the background noise was awful. Very difficult to understand the person. I have noticed other inefficiencies that make me rethink my fifty year relationship with Sharp. That is they did away with the resource library. They did away with the wellness massages. It has obviously become about $$$. Very disappointed. read more

I originally was going to a different imaging center but I'm so glad I came here. The process felt so harmonious. I was checked in right away and the waiting room was just so open and comfortable. The comforting experience starts the minute you walk into the building. The ladies at the concierge desk guided me before I even asked. Then when I got to the imaging department the ladies right I way checked me in even though I was a few minutes late. After that I was checked in with billing and that was also a great experience, as the young lady that helped me was very nice. Lastly, the imaging tech was a lovely blonde lady that made me feel right at home. I told her a bit of background as to why I was coming in and she instantly made me feel comfortable and not embarrassed. Definitely will be coming back for any future imaging! read more

So my Mom fell and hit her face really hard, the cut on her wound was pretty deep that we had to send her to the ER to get treated, everyone here were amazing and caring for all the patients, despite the fact it was extremely busy, they were able to take care of my Mom, stitched her up nicely, send her home as fast as they could, the staffs and crews here were nothing but the best at their jobs read more

The absolute worst nightmare at Sharp Outpatient Pavilion yesterday. The care I received while in the operating room was HORRIBLE. The nurses in pre-op & post-op were fantastic!!! My Dr. Cole is amazing. But from the time I arrived inside the OP room I was appalled!!! 1. From my IV line was bad? 2. Anesthesiologist was unnerving in providing patient care. 3. To having to be stuck & told I have bad veins by him. ( already know) 4. While he was trying to access another way; nurse on my left side original IV was playing with the line to get the kink out? 5. Someone who came in ( I guess another Doctor? Never identified himself) Assisted where he was able to get the first line working! 7. When the IV line was ready, I was screaming & convulsing in pain because it was in my hand; medicine was EXTREMELY painful going in. Some nurse was rubbing my hand. I have these procedures every 3-6 months. Will never ever experience this again!!!! read more

I have seen the most passionate and caring nurses here. Obviously not a place you want to "bookmark", but in a sense, the "customer service" is beyond anything I have ever seen. I had to ask her for her name because she the most finniest & sincere person I'ver ever came across with. She was so informative & really made me feel comfortable about getting checked up. I usually hated those vision checks and coming here, but she was so understanding & even remembered me every time I had an appointment. Careful - when they give you a bill and estimate for services they do not include the San Diego Imaging Medical Group doctor's fees who work in their facility. They KNOW their charges will be included but they only state in a very small bottom line that their could be other charge. COULD? No, they know their will be charge. If you are paying cash or have a high deducible, their other many choices with honest provides with upfront costs. I feel very deceived and thought at Sharp facility that Sharp doctors would be carrying for me not an outside service with another bill to pay. read more

Wow looks like everyone else had a totally different experience than I did here. I took my hubs here to have a little butt remodel done a while ago. His crack in his back wasn't working properly. Well finally we scheduled his appt for noon on a weekday. We arrive to an overly chatty front desk lady who is going to check him in. After hearing about every problem she or any of her multiple family and friends have ever had for about 30 minutes or so she sends us to wait in the lobby. My face hurt from smiling and nodding all the while pretending I gave a crap. An hour or so waiting in the lobby goes by, my hubs anxiety is increasing and he is starving to death as he hasn't ate a thing since the previous night per doctors orders. I go up to the desk and ask and Miss Chatty Pants forgot to "check" him in. I almost flip out but he gets called pretty soon after. The Doctor comes out and tells me because we were late (?) that he won't have his procedure for another couple of hours. Huh? We were EARLY!!! The check in lady is the one that was too busy flapping her lips to do her job. I'm seething at this point because I know my poor husband is in a paper gown lying on a hard metal table filled with acute anxiety starving. Ridiculous. Finally they take him in to surgery 4 hours after we arrived. Goes OK. Get the directions and after care from the doctor and we leave. By the way the facility is closed for the day at this point. Everyone had gone home. So all this is pretty annoying but the doctor was really nice. He fit us in even though he was leaving for vacation that night. The rest was just inexcusable. They need to tell their check in person to skip the large talk and do her damn job. I could hear her all day just sucking time. Oh and I almost forgot. When it was time to take off the bandage from my husband's back side we couldn't get it off. Yanked and pulled and wet it down. No good. Finally it came off with a big chunk of his skin. Hideous. I actually changed insurance so I knew I would never have to come here again. With all my man's issues I knew it was a distinct possibility. read more

I visited the imaging center here today. Being a middle aged woman, I need to get a yearly mammogram. And what better time to have than during Breast Cancer Awareness month? Plus, I'm an October baby, so this is my annual birthday present to myself. Now ofcourse, it's not a pleasant thing to have your boobs squished by a machine. But the ladies here are as gentle as can be. They are very friendly and chat with you during the whole process. This makes the experience a whole lot nicer. It only takes about 10 minutes, if even that. So ladies, if you're in your 40s or older and haven't had a mammogram yet this year, please make an appointment today. I have been here 6 times in 3 months for various reasons. I've had several imaging appointments (MRI, x-rays, etc) and two outpatient surgeries. As painful as this may sound, it was made a little more tolerable by how kind and professional every single person has been during every one of my visits. From the people who check you in to the staff who review your insurance and personal information to the nurses and doctors. I have never had a bad experience. Parking can be dicey but they do have a shuttle to take you back and forth to your car. read more

I would give more stars if it wasn't for a ultrasound technician whose name is Sagrario. She was extremely rude to the point I had to ask for another person to do my growth scan for my baby. This Sagrario was harsh with us, she has very bad manners and obviously is not suitable for working with people, she said we couldn't use our phones and then clarified for recording the ultrasound, we asked why and she immediately became defensive and said she could call her manager so we said it's ok, then we politely asked if at least she could turn the monitor so we can see the baby she said "can you let me do the job" so I stopped her and told her she didn't need to be harsh with us and I requested for another person and said goodbye to her. She left the room like a storm and that was it. The rest of the personnel were nice but she cut our time to less than half... read more

I recently had an appointment in the Outpatient Imaging Center on the 2nd floor and I wanted to share my positive experience I had with the staff and express my appreciation. I feel its important to recognize staff when they do an exceptional job in caring for their patients. The first person I encountered was Andrea at the front desk, she greeted me with a smile and she was very kind, right away I felt welcome. The first person you encounter helps set the tone for any appointment you have. The second person I encountered was Lindsey S. in registration, also very kind. She took down my information and the registration process was very smooth. For the procedure, I had the pleasure of meeting Amy the Rad Tech and Dr. Yacullo. They were professional, they took the time and explained the procedure thoroughly, answered any question I had and ensured my comfort during the procedure. I received the "Sharp Experience." I was treated with respect as a customer which is unfortunately rare in this day and age. I was not treated like a number and rushed through the process. I just had surgery here yesterday. I had an Umbilical Hernia Repair done. Everyone I came across was very friendly and helped me stay relaxed. The nurses made sure I was comfortable and were attentive. When the nurse walked me back to my surgery room, he tried talking to me about what I do for a living and about my son. I could tell he was trying to keep my mind off of getting a surgery done. I was nervous and maybe he sensed it. We walked into the hospital room and everyone guided me and told me step by step what was going on and before I knew it, my arm felt cold from the IV and I fell asleep. When I woke up, I woke up in a recovery room and the nurses were very attentive there too. They made sure I was comfortable and offered me drinks and crackers. The nurse explained to me what I needed to do postoperatively and went over all of the paperwork with me very clearly. I had a great experience here and I know if I need another surgery I definitely will come back to this place. read more

I had 2 appointments yesterday at sharps outpatient pavilion. I arrived on time and when I told the concierge my name I was told my appointment was cancelled for testing positive for covid, which was false she then kicked me out of the hospital and said not to blame her she was only passing on the message from my doctor! She said my doctor said I couldn't be in the hospital and my appointment was cancelled because I have covid. This was a lie and they wouldn't let me talk to my doctor. I have never felt so hated in my life so when I called my ride to come back and contacted my doctor was I allowed to go to my appointments. The front desk never apologized for their rude behavior and lies. I am going to find another facility that properly takes care of their patients. read more

Went in for x-rays. Front door greeters are always friendly and helpful. The imaging center is a happy place where they work efficiently to get me checked in. A few minutes later the x-ray tech checks my ID information and verifies the x-rays to do. Clear and easy process. 1 hour later I see the radiologist's assessment on my patient portal. I had surgery Friday June 23. From the moment I walked into the building I was greeted by two lovely girls who showed me to the elevator where I was greeted by the nice woman who checked me into the facility with the a warm smile which made me feel relaxed. I was taken back by Tim and we joked through my nervousness. He was wonderful. Candace and Tina are great! My IV didn't hurt at all and Tina was happy to make me comfortable with a warm blanket. I can't remember much from there on lol. I had the sweet pleasure of nurse Heather. She took great care of me after I woke up and treated me like family. I appreciate Sharp allowing him the use of the far superior N95 mask instead of the thin 3 ply "freebie" procedure mask in the waiting area. I would have to say they were more than welcoming! I had an appointment yesterday at another place called "San Diego Imaging" and for whatever reason they cancelled my appointment and I was really upset since I hardly can get any specific days off and I did just that to get my imagining done but the girl at San Diego Imaging just blew me off and didn't even try to accommodate. I was really upset and felt so defeated and wanted to cry because I did what I could as a patient and it was their fault they couldn't keep my schedule that I had arranged two weeks prior. I called my doctor and explained the situation and told them that I would never want to step back into San Diego Imaging again because they did not want to help me at all after their little flaw. My doctors office gave me the number to Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion and the girl on the phone was more than happy to take me in for a last minute appointment. I was so thrilled and upon arrival the staff from the lady at the first floor greeting desk to everyone at the second level floor were super nice and made me feel so at home and cozy. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. They were such a gem! read more

Well, I finally did it. After putting it off for months, I finally had my tonsils out yesterday. Yep, I sacked up, flew my mom out from Florida and trekked my chicken shit ass to the Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion. Granted, I was passed out with General Anesthesia for most of my experience here... but I can rave about what I do in fact remember....it was almost a dream! I was told to arrive at 6am for a 7:20am surgery. I was the first one admitted. The woman who did all my paperwork was SUPER friendly. Knowing I was nervous, she began chatting me up about her sister and basically anything to get my mind off the fact I was about to go under the knife. Almost immediately, once my paperwork was done I was brought back to the exam room for pre-op. A nurse by the name of Dina was super sweet as she ran my IV and took blood for my labs. She actually had her tonsils taken out by my Dr. a few months ago, so she gave me some insight into what I should really expect, and some tips on how to get through the pain once it was over. She was AWESOME! I barely felt the needle go in, and when I felt a little woozy - YES, I am THAT girl - she was very attentive to make sure I was okay. Every few minutes or so, a nurse would pop in to update me... and then as if the heaven's parted with the room's curtain.... my anesthesiologist walked in. HALLELUJAH! First things first.... forget McDreamy, McSteamy and all the rest... MY Dr. was HOT! As soon as he walked through the door, all of my anxiety about my surgery went out the window and the Eurhythmics "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" ironically began playing in my head.... Talk about a bed side manner! ;-) How could I forget! Let me paint the mental picture of me at this point. I'm not super vain, but when I am in the company of an extremely good looking man... I like to at least try and look my best. Only in this case, I had no make-up on, my hair was in a hair-net hat that looked more like a shower cap, and I was wearing nothing but my "chonies" under a hospital gown....and who could forget the super comfy grannie socks with the tread on the bottom to keep my feet warm! Miss America had Nuthin' on me! Even in the FREEZING hospital... my room got super hot! Pardon the pun because it's true... but my Anesthesiologist - KNOCKED ME OUT! Figuratively speaking of course at that moment... but it wasn't long after that... that it was literally too. I tried really hard to concentrate at that point, but I am not sure I heard everything he was saying over the angels singing... haha - okay, enough with the melodrama, you get the point. Doc, explained he'd be giving me two rounds of anesthesia and during the second, they'd put a breathing tube down my throat- YIKES. Shortly thereafter, they wheeled me into the operating room... All of a sudden, my anxiety came back again... but one more look at the Doc - and I was off in dreamland. They put me up on the operating table, gave me the first part of the anesthesia and I remember one comment to the nurse about how cold it was... and I was TKO'd. Roughly two hours later I awoke in the recovery room with a super sweet and attentive nurse (I think her name was Mary) doting on me to make sure I was okay. She called my mom in, got me some applesauce and water and helped me wake up....giving me more pain medication the whole time. She had to make sure I was comfortable, right? I have a vague recollection of seeing Dr. Hot pass through the recovery room and I am pretty sure he said I did great and passed with flying colors... He may just have still been in my drug induced dream state that HE put me in! I guess I should mention here that I finally did actually see the surgeon who did my operation about this point... I was knocked out in the operating room by the time he got there... so when I stopped by the recovery room, it was nice to know he actually did show up - even though I had the pain to prove it. About 30 minutes later, and about 10:30am I was allowed to get dressed and go home. The nurse gave my mom my after-care instructions and a business card! Dr. Hot's business card! He must want me to Yelp him! Still in shock and awe, the nurse gently wheeled me down the hall, into the elevator and out to the car...where my chariot awaited. And that's about where the dream ends.... Now, I am back to reality. Painfully drinking a lot of ice water, eating enough applesauce to warrant having my own orchard and trying to slurp down some chicken noodle soup on occasion. My throat is swollen, bleeding and painful. It hurts to swallow, I can't talk and sleeping has become a nightmare. In the end though, I know this whole process will be worth it... and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll get to see Dr. Hot again one day... ;-) read more

I have had 2 surgeries this year at the Surgery Center in the Sharp Outpatient Pavilion and have been very pleased with the staff and service. Check-in/registration: My surgeries were both scheduled for 7:20AM, so my check-in time was 5:45AM. I thought I'd be the only one there that early, but surprisingly, both times I was there, there were a number of people waiting to be checked in...so, don't worry if you're not there right at 5:45AM. You are first asked to sit down and then they will call you up to check-in. If you have someone with you, that person will be given a number where they can watch the monitor to see if you are out of surgery. After you check-in, you wait again until you speak to another person for registration. Registration is fairly straightforward, you just need to provide your insurance card and sign a bunch of documents (all on a monitor). Once registration is done, you wait again until a nurse calls you back. Pre-Op: There are individual pre-op rooms for patients. Each room has a TV and reclining chair, so you can relax a bit in your gown before you go into surgery. They give you a blanket and operating room socks, so you can be comfy. While in the room, you'll have multiple people come in: -nurse to set up IV -anesthesiologist to review what you'll be getting -another nurse to ask you what you're being operated on -another nurse to prep you (i.e. give you any tests or clean the area you'll be operated on -your doctor and his nurse -another nurse that will be in the operating room During this time, you'll be asked a number of times who you are and what surgery you'll be having. It's definitely repetitive, but it's better to be safe than sorry! My doctor even had to initial where he'd be operating on. Your personal belongings are put into a bag which is put underneath the bed that you'll be on when you're in the OR. Operating Room: From pre-op, you're rolled into the operating room and will meet the operating staff (if you haven't already met them). The staff I had was great, they were very friendly and were making jokes before my surgery. Then you will go into la la land and hopefully wake up as you are being prepared to go to post-op. The operating room is cold, but they will put extra blankets on you if you need. Post-op: After surgery, you're rolled into the post-op area where another nurse will monitor you and give you some crackers and water. The nurse will then call your ride if you gave them a number before surgery. I heard the nurse speaking to my husband, so they really do call when they say they will. My nurse was very nice and took great care of me while I was recovering. Once you're all ready to go, you are wheeled out to be picked up by your ride. Things to note: -Surgery center should call you a few days before surgery, if they don't call them -Parking is validated, just make sure your ride brings the parking ticket with you -Bring something to read while you're waiting before surgery -Take your time in post-op, you may think you're ready to go, but take it easy, you just had surgery! -Rest when you get home and don't overexert yourself, you just had surgery! My experience in the outpatient center has been very positive. The staff made me very comfortable and were all so nice. I wasn't scared about going into surgery and was confident in the staff and knew my surgery would be successful. The center does call you the next day to see how you are doing and they also send you a card, which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend going to the Outpatient Pavilion if you need outpatient surgery. read more

The recent deaths of Carrie Fisher and George Michael really bothered me. Because I have several of the associated risk factors, I searched for somewhere to get a true medical assessment of my cardiac risk. Sharp rose to the top of the list because of their comprehensive battery of tests for only $199. I had my appointment today and was so impressed with the facilities at the Sharp Outpatient Pavilion, the staff, and how the tests were conducted. Wonderful little touches like offering snacks and water because they knew you'd been fasting before your blood work, and a pillow when lying on the examination table. One of the best medical experiences I've had! Recently had unilateral thyroid removal surgery at this facility. Surgery results were satisfactory (kudos to surgeon) but experience will cause me to not repeat using this facility: Before the procedure I told the Surgeon and Anesthesiologist that I had anxiety about the procedure and requested a pre-op sedative. My request was denied because I had to "walk to the operating room" (guess they don't have wheelchairs?). In the pre op area I sat in a recliner wearing my surgical robe. I walked to operating room #8 passing 7 operating rooms while on the march. Once in the operating room, staff had me lay flat on the operating table, put compression inflatables on the calves and tightly strapped me to the table in varies areas. I was in a near panic mood. When I came out of the anesthesia, I felt like my frontal lob was going to explode and had lost hearing in my right ear! Thankfully my spouse was with me to instruct the nurse to relieve my severe pain with medication. Yesterday my brother had surgery at Scripps Memorial, La Jolla. I was with him. While in the pre op area on a gurney, the anesthesiologist asked my brother if he wanted a sedative for anxiety? While waiting for his surgery, they kept him comfortable with a heated blanket, socks, and head cover. The nurses were friendly and attentive. After the surgery my brother told me that he gave the entire experience 5 stars; wish I could say the same for Sharp. read more
