Everything went great until it didn't. If you are considering RLE surgery, do your research. It's not what they promised or delivered. The surgery went fine and my eyes healed perfectly BUT I started experiencing blurry vision at all distances shortly thereafter. I was in the office about every two weeks for about 5-1/2 months after surgery. I was told to use 3 different eye drops by 3 different Dr's/techs. None of which did anything to correct the problem. My left eye is so blurry it feels like I have something in it all day long. To make matters worse, parts of my vision that were good before are now blurry. I can read text that I wasn't able to before without readers, however, it's like double vision and I can't see anything with any detail. When I finally got to see Dr Lancaster close to the 6 month mark, he told me my only option was to have one of the multi-focal lenses replaced with a mono focal lens, which he originally talked me out of prior to the surgery - oh and here is the best part - I was going to have to pay for the surgery because it had been six months!! So much for lifetime guarantee. Oh, and the BS they tell you about being to make any necessary corrections to the lenses, if necessary, after the surgery was not true. They never even offered that as a solution. They even sent me to an outside retina specialist who confirmed the blurry vision had nothing to do with my retina. I called three times trying to speak to someone about those results and no one would return my call. Its been over 2 months and crickets. I have been trying to get my medical records from them so I can go somewhere else to get my eyes fixed, but so far they have failed to give them to me. I spoke to someone who said they would email them, they didn't. I've left several messages because they don't answer the phone and I have received zero call backs. If you are willing to spend the 12k for this surgery, I suggest finding someone else because, in this case, you don't get what you pay for. read more

If you are LOOKing into getting Lasik surgery, LOOK NO FURTHER! I came in a month ago and had a consultation with Dr. Forrest and Melissa. Both were incredible! So sweet, patient, and down-to-earth, I was sold instantly with just them alone. I am so impressed, there aren't enough words to describe how amazing SharpeVision is! Dr. Lancaster was my ophthalmologist who performed the procedure. On the day of my surgery, he came in with all the answers I needed, and described the procedure in detail. The procedure only took about 14 minutes, and as soon as I was done, I was able to walk out of the office seeing more than I did before! I got my surgery on Sep 22nd of this year, and am soooo happy with the results! The whole staff was amazing!! Doctor Lancaster was voted one the best surgeons in Austin for a reason! :) During the initial free consultation, the staff was very kind and answered all my questions. We scheduled the surgery for the next month. The day of surgery I was nervous, but both the staff and Dr. Lancaster made me feel at ease, and they answered my remaining questions. The surgery itself was quick, roughly 5 minutes. During the surgery, the doctor explained each machine he would be using, and would count down on the laser time, which helped ease my nerves. Perfect 2020 vision now! I actually have better than 2020 vision post lasik, 2015! The free consultation was very informative and covered any questions I had and more. I learned I was a good candidate for lasik and what factors make up a good lasik candidate. The surgery itself was super quick, roughly 2 minutes in total of actual surgery (1 minute or so per eye). Dr. Lancaster talked me through every step; roughly 30 seconds each was to measure the eye and then 30 seconds for the lasik. Post surgery, my eyes were irritated (this is normal and to be expected) and then 5ish hours post surgery, I could see nearly perfectly without any aid (just a bit of dry eye). A month post surgery, I have no complaints. Every now and then (maybe once a week?) I do need to use artificial tears, but again, this was told to me and they said it should continue to improve over time. I've hyped up the smooth and easy surgery to family and friends, especially those with extreme vision limits (such as -5; my prescription was -1.35 and even then, the change was stellar). Procedure: PRK Date of surgery: 4/7/21 Date of this review: 5/30/21 (~7 weeks post surgery). First off, I want say, this review is absolutely genuine and from my heart. I am absolutely grateful and blessed I found this place and Dr Lancaster. After I got the go-ahead from my ophthalmologist (due to potential glaucoma I have been on watch for past 7+ years), I went ahead and had 4 different consultations for Lasik/PRK, and NONE of other 3 places were as patient or more comforting than here with SharpeVision. I confess, I am one of those patients that will ask a MILLION questions... and why wouldn't I, when I wanted to be absolutely sure I knew exactly what to expect and everything. After all, these are my eyes, and to me, sight is the most important sense. Other doctors/offices were either rushing me, or they almost talked down to me, or didn't give me a good feeling when I asked specific questions about the procedure. NOT HERE.... Dr Forest was extremely patient and treated me with respect, and answered ALL my questions and made me feel at ease. Then I wanted to meet with the Dr Lancaster (the surgeon), and asked if that would be ok. Yes, it is. And they allowed me to meet with him on 1:1, and same thing as with Dr Forest -- Nothing but respect, patience, and answered everything with honesty. I even sent some emails to Dr Lancaster (pre and post surgery), and he personally replied as well. My PRK surgery was on 4/7/21 -- no issues at all, was fairly quick, and was painless. During surgery Dr Lancaster talked me through everything that was about to happen (so no surprises), which I really appreciated. Absolutely everything that they told me what to expect during that first few days and week post surgery happened (it was very comforting knowing it all beforehand). 1 month after my surgery, I met again with Dr Forest, and she informed me my vision was 20/15 (better than 20/20), and that I could even see more improvements in the next 3-6 months, which is mind-blowing to me, since at this point I am already I am seeing things so CRISP, and CLEAR.... it is amazing to say the least. I had worn glasses since I was 3 years old until I was 16 years old and from there I wore both glasses and contacts until I was 23. I was tired of the hassle and struggle of wearing contacts and glasses. They helped me sign up for financing to pay for my procedure which only took 10 minutes and set me up for my surgery. The day of my surgery I was very nervous! I trusted Dr. Sharpe and the up to date technology they had but it's still my eyes and of course I was imagining the worst that could happen to me. The staff and valium helped with my nerves immensely. The procedure was quick, smooth and I only experienced a little bit of discomfort for a few hours after. Once that discomfort went away, I could see! I had never known what having good vision was like until I had my LASIK eye surgery done! it was way better than wearing contacts and glasses. This LONG review comes to you from someone who has been told for the last 8 years by a myriad of optometrists that LASIK was just not going to happen for me. So let me tell you, I have not been able to SEE for 23 YEARS. I'm 31, so that's most of my adolescent and adult life. Dr. Sharpe and his team fixed that in 24 hours. I am a super high anxiety, Type A person for the most part, so besides the fact that every eye doctor thought my eyeballs were shameful (too blind, too bumpy and too scarred from sleeping in my contacts), I couldn't imagine someone going near my eye with a laser. My vision is a -4.75 and -5.50, meaning that if I was in Nightmare on Elm Street and someone stood right in front of me and I had no glasses, I'd be Freddy's first victim. I can't see anything past my hand in front of my face and even that's blurry but I still wasn't sold on LASIK. My husband met Dr. Sharpe during the Summer Cinema at Central Market, meaning he was already good enough to withstand being baked in an oven to watch a 30 year old movie just to meet people. He turned out to genuinely be the nicest guy ever and isn't really selling anything. He wants to help you SEE. I happened to be down the street from the office and popped in for an impromptu consultation-completely FREE. You spend 90 minutes with the team (Rocky, Dr. Patel, Heather and Laura) getting measured, checked and double checked. In between, you have your choice of Starbucks tea and coffee (or hot water and lemon if that's your thing). The whole practice is comfortable with (possibly faux) animal skin dentist chairs and Restoration Hardware couches and plenty of reading material. I had my eyes done the very next day. Dr. Sharpe had given me a booklet to explain but also went over it again that morning. He gives you another eye test just to make sure he's solid on how far he can push your vision. I told him about my anxiety and was rewarded with medication. I didn't even really need it; Dr. Sharpe could lead you blindfolded across an active volcano and you'd be totally confident and calm. Between him and Rocky, it was a contest on who could numb my eyes the best, which was great for me. The actual procedure was not more than two minutes for both eyes. I sat up and looked at the clock. And waved at my husband in the lobby. And saw the cars pass by on Burnet. Minutes before that, I had wrecked a crash tray because I couldn't see it or what was on it. I prepped for the pain of a thousand burning suns afterwards. Dr. Sharpe and Rocky gave me my first round of drops and a home supply of "comfort" drops, which were numbing drops with artificial tears. I used them at the worst burning, right before my nap, which felt more like when you get soap in your eyes and don't want to open them. I napped for 3 hours and woke up seeing EVERYTHING. Pain free, I might add. Follow up was the next morning and I drove myself in sunglasses, purely because I could. Dr. Sharpe does another eye test and I was seeing 20/10 less than 24 hours out. That two steps better than 20/20. If I thought my eyeballs would survive the snot bubble tears withheld, I would have cried until they asked me to leave. I hugged everyone there like they were my family. After that much trust, they truly are. I have asked around with friends and other places are just dabbling in LASIK. They rent their tools (Dr. Sharpe owns his) and can charge up to $6000 for a unmediated, sterile, short experience that leaves you wondering what you really DID pay for. Dr. Sharpe's pricing is about average but he runs specials all the time. You get way more comfort and peace of mind here because everyone is focused on getting you the best result. I also got to donate my old frames to the Lions Club, which is where I refer my family as the school social worker right around the corner from the practice. I'm still in shock about the world I see around me. It's sharp and clear and most of all, RIGHT THERE. So ask me anything. I'll wear the t-shirt and mug and everything. My prescription was -5.25 ("I need my glasses to find my glasses" bad) and I'd run out of contacts. It was time. I chose this place because of Yelp, and because the other place I called couldn't even fit me in for a consult for another two weeks-- I needed this to happen fast, while I still had my courage. I called on a Monday, had a consultation on Wednesday, and had 20/15 vision by Saturday afternoon. Best decision of my life. Nobody was more scared of LASIK than I was. Truth. I've got a thing about eyes, a serious serious thing. Blood draws? Surgery? Natural childbirth? Snakes? Spiders? No big. Touch my eye? Oh HELLLLLL no. I was completely panicked even going in for the consult, and you can't imagine what a basket case I was the day of the surgery. The staff was unbelievably calming, soothing, infinitely reassuring, and super friendly. From the first phone contact on, it felt like every single person there truly cared about my comfort, and I say this as someone who isn't easily placated. Nobody ever seemed frustrated by my anxiety or skittishness, and everyone there was amazing. The procedure itself only took a couple minutes, and Dr. Sharpe -- wow. He was like Valium in human form (not in a "he's boring" way-- he's not! I mean in a "the most calming human being I have ever met in my entire life" way). I went home, took a nap, felt a little stinging, but within six hours of the surgery the discomfort was gone and it was like I just naturally had amazing vision. I had Lasik done one month ago by Dr. Sharpe. I couldn't be more happy. Seriously SharpeVision was a fantastic choice--results, price, patient care, etc! I chose SharpeVision because of the fantastic reviews here on Yelp. Dr. Sharpe has an office in Austin and he splits time with his other office in Seattle. That location has 57 reviews (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sharpevision-modern-lasik-bellevue) as opposed to the 4 here for the Austin location. Dr. Sharpe has done over 60,000 procedures! Dr. Sharpe's bedside manner was very good. He explained the procedure beforehand and answered all my questions. Then during the procedure, he was talking me through it the entire time (The corneal flap part isn't particularly pleasant). Having Dr. Sharpe explain what is going on and countdown made it much better). The cost was less than many of the other doctors in Austin (which was not a deciding factor for me, but was a nice plus). I'm now seeing 20x15 (previous prescription was -1) ! read more
