I had been putting off Lasik for about 5 years and I'm so glad I finally was able to get it done. Dr. Lancaster, Dr. Forrest, Rocky, and Jessie were exceptional! They answered all my questions, accommodated my requests to the best of their abilities, and overall went above and beyond to get me from -4.5/-4.25 to 20/15 vision! It's been over a week since the surgery now and my only regret is not getting the procedure done earlier! Let me preface this review with the fact that I am not even 24 hours post surgery. If you are reading this then chances are you are contemplating getting LASIK and trying to find somewhere to get it done. LOOK NO FURTHER. These folks are the best! My eyes were screwed. Like -6.75 from the day I was born kinda screwed and today I read 3 letters at the 20/15 line! First, let me tell you: I was a baby. No joke, like, "took a stuffed animal with me, nearly panicked when I felt the valium wasn't working, and thought I was walking into my death" kind of baby. I have had two children, 6 surgeries, and watched my insides get taken out and stuffed back in with no problem.... but the thought of being awake and having suction on my eyes freaked me straight the hell out!! If you are like me then you are doing your research. Lots of research. Probably even watched a video of what they do. IT DOESN'T DO YOU ANY GOOD. Honestly. All it did was freak me straight out for what ended up being the easiest, pain free, quickest procedure ever. I do want to emphasize something here though: Through my research I found that I was not scared of the laser itself, but rather the "suction" part that everyone tells you is uncomfortable or painful. No one has really explained what it is or does, so my imagination told me that they put a tiny vacuum on your eye and the pressure you feel is from the vacuum sucking your eyeball up and out of your skull as best it can. This is wrong!! Actually, what it does is apply pressure going down, NOT UP, to get your cornea to raise a little. Put two fingers on your arm spread apart and press down a little and you will see your skin pop up a bit. Same thing here. It truly feels no different than if you put your palm over your eye and pressed down a little firmly. That's it. You do NOT feel the laser , you do NOT feel like your eyeball is being sucked out of your head or "suction" at all, and you do NOT freak out while it's happening. I have a horrible time getting numb (surgeries, dental work, etc.) and while I was nervous as hell and requested (and received!) extra Valium, in the end, it did nothing for me which I totally expected. It takes a whole lot extra to get me where most people get from a standard amount and once I was in the chair, both Dr. Thompson and Rocky walked me through everything and assured me I was doing great- WHICH I WAS!!! When the doc told me the hard part is over I literally said "Really? Was that it? I feel so stupid..." In less than 10 minutes and 3 songs on my iphone later, we were done and I was crying tears of joy from being able to read the clock in the room! Between them and Dr. Pagan they really kept me grounded and while I am sure they were thinking I was crazy with overreaction, I appreciate them all so much. I originally went in here thinking I would have Dr. Sharpe as the surgeon since he's mentioned in all the reviews and sorta questioned whether I should still go here having a different doctor that I couldn't get too much info on (Dr. Jordan Thomson) but this man is truly a rockstar. Most of his career has been in the military so it's difficult to find lots of reviews on him, but don't let that deter you. You are in good hands, and he's amazing. Rocky was sweet enough to put a blanket on me while laying there because a combination of the cold room and nerves had me shivering and that helped tremendously! The facilities are immaculately clean, modern, and comfortable. You will not regret going in here. I had such a GREAT experience with my LASIK. My consultation was fast and effective and they gave me the run down of the process, checked my vision and eye pressure and told me I qualified. They got me into "surgery" a week later and the process was so fast and easy. I was in the office for 1 hour that day and the procedure only took 5 minutes. It's been a year since my LASIK surgery, I waited this long to get another consultation with the lifetime wellness plan, because I wanted to make sure I just wasn't taking longer to recover from LASIK. I was told that for 3 or 4 months my vision might be light sensitive and blurry, I shouldn't drive at night, and would need eye drops frequently throughout the day. I had these side effects in addition to seeing double, and extreme blurriness and dry, itchy eyes. For example, letters on my keyboard have a double image and bright smeared sheen, and this is how I experience everything. I can't recognize faces from a distance. If I look at birds at a distance, I see double images. And all lights still have halos, glare, and streaks. I went in to see if these conditions are correctable, and what happened to my eyes during surgery, but because I can make out the eye chart by looking at whether letters are sharp or curved, and the direction they are facing, their optometrist said I have 20/20 vision and the symptoms I'm experiencing are coincidental or congenital, and not measurable. Before the surgery, I could see and function normally, now I can only work for a short period of time before all the letters streak together and I become fatigued. If I can't find an optometrist or ophthalmologist who will listen to my symptoms and explain what happened to my eyes, I might be like this for the rest of my life. I just had LASIK done on both eyes in December after 23 years of wearing contacts. I'm a huge fan of SharpeVision Modern LASIK! Today is the day after lasic for me with Sharpe. I woke up with 20/20 vision for the 1st time I can ever remember. Have worn glasses since I was 10 and contacts since about 12. I'm 40 now & this seems unreal to wake up seeing great. I'm still in a little bit of a cloudy phase here, kind of like when you accidentally sleeo in contacts and wake up & can see but the sticky hazy contacts make things not as sharp. Since I woke up things are getting clearer & clearer by the hour. I believe it's 20/20 at least because I can see as far or farther as if I had glasses or contacts in right here from my bed already! I wanted to due diligence so I went to Sharpe, then Eye Institute of N Austin & finally Mann Eye. I'll spare my thoughts on the latter & just say that at Sharpe I just felt most comfortable. I believe all 3 would have given me good results but Sharpe in particular is very clean aesthetically when you arrive & throughout your visit. Their people (Rocky, Jesse & Dr Forrest) are so kind, knowledgeable and truly make you feel that they care. Their video explanation is very well done, there are so many chances to ask questions & get answers pre, during & post op. The surgeon, Dr Lancaster, though you probably won't meet him unless you have the surgery is wonderful too! They leave no stone unturned and I would highly recommend them. They even donate your old glasses & contacts to a charity for you if you like on your way out because you won't need them anyways! It's been about 2 months since I've had my eyes done here. I can see so clear and crisp it is absolutely amazing. The process is painless and quick. I would highly recommend this place if you're considering lasik. Only thing is they offer a lifetime warranty if your vision changes in the future. It's a additional $400 or $200 per eye. That just seems kinda like that should be something that would be included in the $3500 price tag. So it's almost like, you've come this far they know you'll go a little farther for the sense of security. And the thought of having to spend $3500 again should your vision change after the procedure seems ridiculous. So, might as well right. Other than that, very professional and courteous staff. I'm writing regarding my experience as a patient during the consultation, I didn't have laser eye surgery done here. When I came in to the consultation on time, I wasn't seen till 20 minutes later. After being briefly examined, I was left in the exam room waiting for the eye doctor. I was told she would come in about 20 minutes. The technician said that she's running late and that she will come in about 20 more minutes. She came in a third time and told me that she will come again in 20 more minutes. The whole time I was waiting and I couldn't properly browse on my phone because my eyes were dilated. I saw the eye doctor 1 hour and 15 mins later. After the eye doctor, I was left again for a few minutes until someone would come in to finish my appointment. I became impatient and went to the front desk saying that I needed to leave. My appointment was supposed to be from 2:30-4 pm. I left close at 4:45 pm. In all my years going to appointments, this was the most unprofessional experience I had. Considering how many good reviews this place got, maybe this was an off day or just the office is disorganized and people don't mind sitting and waiting around. I went to another clinic where I was seen right away and I'll be going forward with them for my laser eye surgery. If I were to get laser eye surgery here, I can imagine waiting for the surgeon for 3 hours. Overall disappointed. read more

I literally had the plan to write this review on my calendar because i was so blown away. Everything about this experience exceeded my expectations! The SharpeVision office is like walking Into a cool, modern, day spa and every person who works there is super welcoming, but not in a fake "we just want your money" kinda way. From the front desk (where Bel and Jess send personal texts regarding your appointments instead of robo-reminders), to each of the Doctors (Bleckman and Lancaster) every staff member seemed super sincere and actually happy to be there. I was really apprehensive about going into a doctor's office/clinic during COVID, but everyone here went above and beyond to maintain safe precautions. I saw everyone regularly using hand sanitizer, which was comforting since I knew they would be so close to my eyes. They had a COVID questionnaire for all clients, everyone wore masks, and social distanced. Every staff member I interacted with I felt really comfortable with, and they were all very professional and friendly. I went in 4 times - for a consultation, initial YAG procedure, ICL procedure, and follow-up. The ICL procedure was done in the morning and literally by the end of the day, I could see nearly perfectly. I was talking on the phone with a friend when I realized I could read the clock all the way in my kitchen, which I couldn't even do with my contacts. They said I may have sensitivity or headache after the procedure, but I literally walked out of their office feeling like normal, just had blurred vision and the teeniest headache I could barely notice. The procedure itself was not painful at all, I barely felt anything happening. I only felt the lens itself sliding around, but it wasn't pain, just an odd feeling of pressure. I was just so terrified, which was the only stressful part, so my own anxiety was the worst part of it all. They gave me a blanket and stress balls to squeeze on which was really helpful. I can get panic attacks / anxiety with health-related issues, but everyone made me feel so comfortable. I've worn glasses/contacts since 2nd grade (I'm 26 now), and the day after my surgery, I woke up for the first time in a lonnng time with perfect vision. The next day at my post-op, they said I was reading at 20/15 (better than 20/20) and I'm just so happy. Four days later and I haven't had any eye pain and if everything continues to recover correctly, this will definitely be the best decision I ever made. Also, they communicated with me by text which was super convenient compared to other places. It's been a week since my LASIK sugery and, I must say, I'm so happy I did it. I went to a couple different places in Austin to kind of "shop around" and each experience differed so much. Sharpevision was my 3rd and final stop. First, maybe other people don't care about this, but ambiance is huge for me. This was place was so clean and modern and it gave me a great vibe and made me excited about the surgery. All of the equipment was clean and new. The two other places I went to were really..outdated. What made me choose Sharpevision was: 1) Pricing, one of the best deals I had seen in town even with the lifetime guarantee. 2) Convenience: the other two places were requiring another eye exam a few days before the actual procedure (which was going to cost me $250) a full day off for the surgery, and a follow up appt the next day. The other two places would not do surgery on Fridays, so I would've had to miss a lot more time at work, which was a HUGE factor for me. I had my LASIK done on friday afternoon after working a half day, then my next day appt was on Saturday. They did all of the measurements at my free consultation. 3) Informative: they sent me home with the informed consent sheet and a ton of information on what to expect and what not to expect in a neat little booklet. They sent my drops to the pharmacy that day (one of the other places I went to needed me to go to a specific pharmacy to get a very expensive eye drop? very weird). The procedure was quick. I wouldn't say painless, but just slightly uncomfortable. Everything I experienced in the days to come was expected since I read my booklet! Within a few days I could barely tell I had LASIK done as my vision had almost normalized. I still have some haziness and dryness, but it's nothing compared to the discomfort I often felt with my contacts. I was really impressed with this place, the staff, the surgeon. I had LASIK at Sharpe vision last spring and I am still not over how amazing it is to finally be able to see without glasses or contacts. Having been extremely nearsighted my entire life I never really get over being able to see so far and so clearly! This is wonderful to me and I am grateful every day for that. However. I was 39 when I had the surgery, and at the time I had perfect vision close up, could see small print others couldn't see, didn't need reading glasses and didn't think I would for a long time yet. After the surgery that changed completely. My close up vision is very fuzzy about ten inches from my face. I was told by the doctors that because of my age it would have happened anyway, but to have it happen so abruptly and permanently was quite a shock. I'd still rather have the far-away vision than the close-up if given the choice, but it would have been nice to know that there was the possibility that I'd have to make that trade off. I was offered the possibility of a corrective procedure if I felt I needed it, but to be honest I didn't have enough trust that the desired result would be achieved to undergo that laser again. I'm not convinced it was my age suddenly catching up with me and that my eyes were not instead over-corrected. To summarize, I am glad I had LASIK done and would absolutely recommend the procedure to others, just not necessarily here. read more

Back in January 2018, I just happened to be grabbing a pint with one of my buddies, fed up with many years of wearing contact lenses, and I was letting him know this was the year I was shopping around for LASIK. After asking him about his LASIK, he said after looking around everywhere is Austin, he highly recommended SharpeVision where they took care of his eyes and how excited he was about his treatment. I am glad he did because Dr. Thomas and his staff did a phenomenal job with my eyes!!! I had my surgery done in April 2018 and I had 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in my dominant eye after day one of my post-op visit. The doctor and staff definitely did their part to fix my eyes, however I highly recommend you follow my advice (below) to prepare your eyes before and post-operation for DRY EYES along with the Dr's recommended instructions: STOCK UP AND TAKE FLAXSEED OIL AND FISH OIL supplements regularly as often as needed. TRUST ME. I wore soft contact lens for over 15 years, honestly I slept with my AirOptics Night n Day contacts all the time, rarely taking them out and I did not realize how bad my dry eyes were until after the surgery. If I knew what I did now, I would have done a better job on my part before the surgery to even better my recovery than what I went thru. I will say, I also spent at least $150 on every eye drop brand and variation out there to try and help with my severe dry eyes to only find that the eye drops only help with the symptoms of dry eyes and not actually fix the underlying causes of dry eye. That's where the flaxseed oil and fish oils come to help you out. I personally do not like the taste of flaxseed oil so I highly recommend softgels: Barlean's LIGNAN important Flax Oil. I also went with high quality fish oil which I feel makes a big a difference in not only your eye health but overall health as well: Nordics Naturals Ultimate Omega 2X. There are a lot of eye drop brands and variations out there, and I probably tried them all to initially "fix" my dry eye before adding supplements, by far my favorite is Systane Balance (dark purple label) and found it the most useful to carry around to help with my dry eyes on the go. About 2 weeks ago my life changed dramatically! I got Lasik done at SharpeVision and I love not having to worry about glasses or contacts daily! If you are even contemplating getting Lasik done you MUST go to SharpeVision. From the moment I called to make my complimentary appointment to going back for a follow-up after my surgery the staff and doctors at SharpeVision were amazing through every step. Laura was very pleasant to talk to and she was great at working with my odd schedule so that I could be seen sooner than later. I was super nervous about getting Lasik done but from the moment I walked into their office I was put to ease. The vibe is SO different from other doctor's offices. Esthetically - walking into their office was like walking into a spa for a massage, for real - it's so laid back, clean, airy, bringing the outdoors inside kinda thing going on...it's super relaxing feeling, not stuffy and cookie cutter like other places. The staff exude the same non-cookie cutter vibe. The staff and doctors are so friendly, communicative, and full of personality, they do a great job putting you to ease. Rocky did the initial eye exam stuff and he was great! So easy to talk to and he explained thoroughly what each machine was checking for and what to expect. Heather met with me before the surgery to give me a detailed rundown of the different eye drops, frequency of use, etc...she was so nice, easy to talk to and was great at easing my nerves before the procedure. During my initial appointment I was given ample amount of information regarding the surgery so that I could make an educated decision I was comfortable with. Dr. Patel was so friendly, informative and was totally present during our appointment; many docs just seem to go through the motions with minimal focus on the patient. Dr. Patel validated my concerns but also encouraged me to think about what life would be like after surgery. She did a great job with educating me on my eyes and what type of procedure would work best for me and why. During the appointment Dr. Patel asked several times if I had any additional questions, assured me that being nervous was normal, and she gave me the whole picture of what to expect before, during and after the surgery. I also got to watch a video Dr. Sharpe made about Lasik which also covered common questions, concerns and the rundown of what to expect. The appointment and video provided lots of pertinent information to help me feel at ease with the procedure and addressed my concerns well. And then there's Dr. Sharpe. Dr. Sharpe has an interesting demeanor - from all my interactions with him, before the surgery and after, I could see that he was genuinely interested in my eye health, my overall wellbeing and my comfort level with the procedure. He was genuine and present during the entire appointment - again, rare nowadays with doctor visits being so rushed. The best part of him is that when he's talking and listening to you - It's like he gets it - he gets that this is not an everyday routine for his patients so he approaches each surgery with genuine interest and concern. His genuine presence and concern really made a difference, especially during surgery because Dr. Sharpe spoke to me the entire time during the surgery telling me what he was going to do, if I was going to feel pressure, what was going to happen next, etc. His calming voice cheering you along makes a world of difference when yes! you are super nervous! My father had Lasik done with Dr. Sharpe and his team and echoed the same compliments I have. Great staff, great doctors and just an amazing place overall.
